FS Version 2 is $600, 1.5 is in my price range. I was wondering about your reviews of the 1.5 version.
I have an HP laptop 2.4Ghz. Whats my latency gonna be like? Would you buy it?

YOur latency depends on things like your soundcard as wel as PRocessor, RAM & HDD Speeds. If you run your Laptop off of the batteries, then chances are, your default settings will slow down the PRocessor to save powre.

Actually the scratch amp is a soundcard, so it has nothing to do with the latency.
I have a 2.6ghz Dell, 256MB memory, and a pretty new HD and I have -zero- problems with latency with 1.5. However, the sound reproduction for scratching is not as good as it was in 1.0, and I'm wondering if they've taken steps to fix that in 2.0. Obviously I would buy it as I have 1.5. Now, there are a lot of people who are hopping on the Serrato Scratch (by Rane) bandwagon and you might want to check into that as well. Also, do you know if there's a way to upgrade from 1.5 to 2.0? I might want to check the new software out.. and also an option for you then would be to buy 1.5 now and upgrade later.

I remember when I played with final scratch. The laptop shouldn't be connected to a power supply. It should be run off the battery when using during a gig

Actually it should never run off the battery during a gig. It says that in the manual. Powering the Scratch Amp will wear out most laptop batteries in about a half hour, regardless of the power settings, which is not nearly enough for a gig.
Some model of laptop power adapter will create a grounding loop, like the Dell Inspiron that I have, but the solution to that is actually very simple: Just rip the ground off the end of the plug. It's that 3rd prong.
