7.18 [Sat] Dub & Dubstep from Sewer City @ Chief Ike's

Sewer City presents a premiere sonic social event featuring the mixed music of dub and dubstep at Chief Ike’s Mambo Room in Adams Morgan.



This will be the first in a series of hosted events featuring atypical styles of electronic, dance, and local music. Sewer City invites you to disengage from DC’s street scene and sink deep below.

Dub music began in the mid 1970’s. Generating sound from instrumental reggae, dub incorporates heavy delays, echoes, and vocal effects that give the music a solid syncopated beat, hypnotic effect, and ghostly sound. Dub continues to evolve electronically and has become one of the pillars of dance music culture.

Dubstep recently rose to the forefront of electronic music. Incorporating the 2-step rhythms of UK garage culture, dubstep builds on the syncopation of electronic dub music, incorporating shuffled rhythms, dropped beats, and sub-base rumbles not common in 4 to the floor dance music.

Sewer City Dub/Dubstep will be at Chief Ike’s Mambo Room on Saturday night, July 18th, at 9:00 p.m. Chief Ike’s Mambo Room is located at 1725 Columbia Road NW, in Adams Morgan. Admission is free.
