    9/20 - Mosaic - JAY TRIPWIRE & MAZI w/LOGO

    9/20 - JAY TRIPWIRE & MAZI
    with opening DJ LOGO

    Jay Tripwire

Celebrating over 50 releases with over a hundred thousand records sold on some of the finest labels underground house music has to offer, with his music featured on commercially released mix CD's by artists such as Slam, Nick Warren & Danny Howells, Chris Fortier,George Morel,Tyler Stadius, Onionz & Joeski, and charted by everyone from John Digweed to Terry Francis to Fred Everything, Jay's music has a vast range of appeal, crossing the boundaries between deep house and tech house, even pulling progressive DJ's into playing house.

Jay has played in numerous cities across the globe at some of the finest clubs the world has to offer such as regular apearances at Fabric, Subterrain@The End,Blond@AKA, Propoganda in Moscow, Bedrock@Heaven, The Bomb, System, OTV, Ottozutz and beyond from Moscow to Japan, and London to Barcelona.

Jay has recently joined forces with Chicago's heavyweight Mazi (Audio Soul Project, Studio Nova) to form a duo by the name of "The Clones". They have had numerous successful gigs already, and have begun production together under the Clones moniker, with their first release set to drop on Jay's Spaced Out imprint after WMC 2004.

We know there are plenty of choices out there, but when it comes to naughty basslines and dirty grooves there's only one name: Jay Tripwire.

    Mazi

At the core of everything Mazi Namvar aka Audio Soul Project does is a restless drive to innovate. Whether he's behind the decks, crafting music in the studio, or working on his own Gourmet Recordings label, Mazi's goal is the same: to keep challenging boundaries and perceptions. It's a risky proposition in a dance music culture saturated with the similar, but simply put, if Mazi's done it before, he's not going to do it again.

This relentlessly forward-thinking approach has focused Mazi throughout his ten-plus years of making dance music. He's released over 150 productions and remixes, and DJ'ed in every corner of the world, but his sound is constantly evolving, a creative process that shows no signs of slowing down. While he spent part of 2004 assessing where he was musically, he's begun 2006 with a renewed fever for his music, and with a slate of ambitious projects on the horizon.

DJing has always been Mazi's first passion, and his recent sets have been particularly inspired. Listen to Mazi behind the decks these days and you'll hear a survey of dance music's extreme cutting-edge labels and tracks. His record bag is packed with a furious collision of 303 acid lines; searing synthesizers; thick, punchy drum kits; new wave-inspired vocals; and tracky, jacked-up house and techno. His sound touches on the electronic house style that has put labels like Brique Rouge, Crosstown Rebels, Poker Flat, Get Physical, Freak n' Chic and Mazi's own Gourmet at the forefront of the underground labels that have been burning up the industry.

His next major project will be the second Audio Soul Project album, the follow up to 2001's acclaimed "Community", a collection of deep dance floor material that featured Mazi working alongside poets, vocalists, musicians and other producers. For Audio Soul Project's next album, tentatively named 'The New Disguise', Mazi plans to form a core group and write music together as a unit, rather than the more open-ended approach from the previous album. From there, a live act will be developed to complement the studio work.

Make sure to come to Mosaic early, as I'll be warming up the decks from 9:00–11:00ish, spinning a mixed bag of the sexiest, funkiest, techiest, juiciest House nuggets you could possibly want.

Yeah, this night is going to be fun.
These guys play/produce music that is pretty different from what most of our other Thursday night guests play, so it'll be a nice change of pace.

I'll definitely be leaning more toward the Deep Tech House, Minimal Techno, and Tech House side of things, when it comes time to set the mood for these guys.

Might have to buy a few new tunes for this one :ponder:

Yeah, Mosaic is a really nice place.
And the sound is a DJ's wet dream.
Even though the cover is only 5 clams, make sure to either get there early or hit up the guest list e-mail to avoid paying it.

    See you there!
