Dumb Dan vs. Stardust - Music Sounds Higher (J Styles Edit)

I put this together at work yesterday so I'd have a decent mash up of Stardust to play. There are a few tweaks I'd like to do to this still but I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to hook the efx-1000 up to finish it. Until then I'd like to get your opinions on this. It's a pretty basic mash up, nothing spectcular, but I love the groove.

    Instrumental: Dumb Dan - Higher
Acapella: Stardust - Music Sounds Better

    Any feedback is much appreciated.

maybe it's just me, but the stardust vocal just doesnt sound right with this tune. like the tone of the voice and the synths of the song clash. (maybe just to me tho)

    i dunno.

what i want is an extended remix of music sounds better that gives me more flexibility to mix it in and out. and more dynamics - the synth repeating every fucking time makes it a little rough sometimes. just the percussion for a while would be great. but thats always a problem with bangalter productions - same with so much love to give, crazy sick song but gets super old and the overwhelming synths are tough to mix.

the best part of the original IMO is when the deep bass drops in like 64 measures into the song. sick.

    i dunno.

I don't think the keys clashed or anything like that - at least it didn't sound like that to me. To me it sounded fine in parts, but other verses of the vocal didn't really go with the bassline (maybe rhythmically?)

Justin, what did you do for this edit? How different is it from the Dumb Dan boot?

as far as the music goes, in this version it's untouched. i've been working on a new version today, rearranging parts of the song song and tweaking the vocal alot more. i'm really not trying to take any credit on the production side. i just figure since i'm still working on bettering my production, it'll keep me going if i do the occasional mashup or fun track so at least i'm making stuff i can still play.

this entire mix was done in cool edit pro, i'm planning on redoing it all in ableton next. i know cep pretty well, which is why i did it there first. next is banging my head trying to do things in ableton.

Not bad at all, but I feel what was said above about the vocals. I'm not sure that it clashes in terms of tones, but it does seem to lose some of the flow of the vocal in parts. Let me know when you run it through ableton b/c I'd love to hear what you end up with.
