HIVE [ Violence | Metalheadz | Renegade Hardware ] - SF
Hive, born and raised in Washington D.C. and now San Francisco resident, is on the tip of everybody's lips. As a DJ, he is seamless as masterful on the decks as he is in the studio. Hive set up his own imprint VIOLENCE RECORDINGS to international acclaim, after remixing projects on A-list labels such as Moving Shadow and Tech Itch Recordings - not forgetting the monster remix of Bad Company's 'Mass Hysteria'. Most recently the exciting and highly skilled producer and DJ, responsible for banging out anthem after anthem, has profiled himself well amongst drum and bass' best with tunes such as 'THE PLAGUE' (alongside Keaton), 'NEO', and of course 'BRING IT ON', undoubtedly one of the most heavily rotated tunes of 2003. Be sure to pick up Hive's newest release 'LAST CALL' on True Playaz' latest EP and stop through tonight, as Hive takes to the 1's and 2's yet again on the powerful Avalon Sound System housed Club Five.
LOGISTICS [ Hospital | Brand Nu | Advanced ] - UK **DEBUT USA TOUR**
At 22 years old, Matt Gresham aka LOGISTICS is the youngest member of the Hospital family. He's only been making tunes for a couple of years but has exploded onto the scene in the last few months with his epic soundscapes and dubbed-out b-lines. Matt recently left his graphic design course at Goldsmiths in London to take on producing full time; a wise move with DJs like GROOVERIDER and BRYAN GEE busting his dubs left, right and centre! Matt's also got tracks forthcoming on LIQUID V, INNERGROUND and CIA, and he's collaborated with his brother NU:TONE for their NU:LOGIC project, the results of which can be heard on the WEAPONS OF MASS CREATION LP in the shape of 7" jazz-step nugget On and On. Replay is available now on the Weapons of Mass Creation LP/CD + 12" sampler (nhs68). Together drops on the Future Sound of Cambridge EP. The Spacejam EP drops Novermber 29th on Hospital Records.
CARLO [ 4twenty4 | Listen to Reason Records ] - DC
Is recognized as one of DC's best drum n' bass DJs. His sound and talent have paved the way for him to showcase his skills in some of DC's most legendary venues, such as Fever and Buzz, playing with such favorites as Bad Company, Kenny Ken and Stakka and Skynet. Lately, Carlo has been busy in the 4twenty4 studio producing some truly incredible drum n' bass music. Carlo's production includes deep moving basslines, smooth melodic vocals, and an overall intensity that is impossible to withstand!
BOBBY JAE [ Upfront | Five ] - DC
Mastering the sultry, sexy sounds of DC drum and bass, Bobby Jae never fails with his impeccable mixing and top-notch selection. With collaborations in the studio and a new CD in the works, Bobby is taking soulful drum and bass to a level of its own. If you haven't already, make sure to get your copy of Perpetual Motion tonight which was 1 of 7 mixes recognized in URB magazine's Mix-It Best.
ILLY MC [ Phylum | Substitution ] - PHI
With a lust for music, and a thirst to innovate, Illy's interest in emceeing began at the age of 13. Having a rooted hip-hop background and an avid love for jungle/drum and bass, proved a positive combination: shaping a style that aims to push US drum and bass emcees to the forefront. On the production side, Illy delivers quality tracks ranging from catchy dance floor killers, to melodic, vibing jams. With a release set for Phylum recordings, and an arsenal of tracks in rotation, his production is sure to keep the crowd moving.
