5.18 // TAKEOVER WEDNESDAYS @ HEAVEN //SPECIAL GUEST JIM DAMATO

Last week’s opening night was awesome. Those who made it to Heaven got to see what a great vibe this venue can have with a different crowd and great electronic dance music. They also got to see some sick dancing on Heaven’s spacious wooden dance floor…and the drink specials were nice too!

This week will feature an all-house lineup: Nick from Soma Holiday will open for special guest Jim Damato (see bio below). So come down for some deep, tribal and funky house beats, as well as a live video collage by Optical Grooves to get you through “hump” day and help you get a head start on Memorial Day weekend…

    JIM DAMATO

Growing up just outside of Boston, Jim has been involved in music since the young age of 10 and has always loved music with a beat. By the time he was finished with high school, he'd held lead positions in the school's Jazz, Concert and Marching bands.

Jim got his start DJing in 2000 while living in San Francisco, where he was influenced by house music legends like DJ Dan, Donald Glaude and Miguel Migs. Jim relied heavily on his musical background and soon had regular appearances at clubs like Pow!, Buzz 9 and Morpho, rocking dance floors with his funky blend of West Coast house music.

Believing that anyone and their grandmother can spin records, Jim took his skills to the next level. Taking influences from DJ Swamp, Qbert, DJ Craze and Mike Hoska, Jim has transformed his sets with elements of scratching and turntablism. Now living in Washington DC, he appears regularly at Gua Rapo and has played at Blue Room, Zucchabar, Mantis, Wonderland and the infamous Sundaze pool parties at the Helix Hotel.

After making his first international appearance at 2004's SunJam in Honduras, Jim is returning to SunJam again this year. His mix of funky house and progessive will surely keep the SunJam crowd dancing it way towards dawn.
