:yikes: Fabio & Photek - No Joke

    * Not since the first release on the label back in the day has the
Photek name graced a release on his own label, now here are two at once,
and both on opposite sides of the drum & bass spectrum.
    * Starting with `No Joke', a smooth roller with the dynamic, signature
Photek bass. This is a very special tune as it lays to rest 12 years of
talking and makes reality the idea of Photek & Fabio composing a track
together. Los Angeles vocalist Chiara announces `this aint no joke bro, we
got this game locked' as the undercurrent of bass and beats rolls to mini
crescendos over and over in hypnotic fashion.
    Photek - Baltimore
    * Locking onto a different game completely, Photek goes in for the kill with
possibly the hardest track he's ever written. The apocolyptic `Baltimore' -
pure seething reeces cut through over consistently pounding pressure beats,
in a call & response that lead to wave after wave of devastation. Bass
pulses suck the air out of the room in their bombardment, a dark babylonic
pronouncement of `real heavy' emerges in the breakdowns and then the carnage
continues - Savage and unrelenting darkside.
    * This release is going to suprise a few people and shows an artist pushing
the boundaries in production scope and arrangement, more will follow
including the launch of a new sister label, Tekdbz, to introduce dubplate
favourites, experimental ideas and introduce new artists.

PPRO11VS is due for release in October 2004

Figured I'd give everyone the press release on this release...and give the samples to it as well.....ENJOY ALL!!!!

not really feeling this one, heard a lot of his forthcoming tunes @ sonar when he played and this is a bit on the weak side. =\

You know, I think I'd take 'Man Down' over "Baltimore' - and the flip w/ 'No Joke' - not bad, reminds me a little bit of the earlier, more minimal style photek - but I dunno - this one felt a little too simple...I almost wanted to hear a slow wobble in the background to give this one some more texture I guess...
