    Adam Freeland - Fabriclive 16

Anyone pick up Adam Freeland - Fabriclive 16 his newest release. It just came out this week. Gotta say I am pretty disappointed. Freeland has been my favorite DJ for some time and this is really taking a step down.
Too many stupid remixes of pop songs. No good flow of dark, yet dancable breaks. And most of the tracks are ones that I've seen Freeland play live alot, or that are on all his live sets. Surely not the groundbreaking effort of Coastal Breaks II.
Anyone else picked up this release? What do you guys think??

I haven't heard it yet. However, I have noticed that trend of of a lot of my former favorite breaks djs moving toward the cheesy crowd pleasing tunes.

That is a lot of the reason I've turned more toward techy beats as of late, I'm not down with the cheese I'm hearing.

I'd play pop-remixes too for a commercial cd release... it's when that starts happening live that you have to worry.

actually i think you should do just the opposite. the die hard fans will buy the cd and want the "underground" tracks. when one is playing out, not everyone there is exactly die hard fan of the dj, therefore play some more commercial stuff to get a good reaction.

the die hard fans are already going to see you live.... which is bigger money? touring, or a buck or two per cd sale?
i guarantee that EDM cd sales are lucky to break 100K these days.

I agree completely. And Freeland when at Nation played a ton of pop tracks. I'll tell you the highs in "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from the guitars were ear piercing, plus that White Stripes song. Don't get me wrong though, I LUVED most of his set!
Although, at Ultra Music in March, it played all straight up breaks tracks. I hope he hasn't taken a permanent turn for the worse. I mean that man could find some dope breaks. "On Tour" was the most recent CD before this and that was great.

That's unfair! You can't tell me you're considering shifting from breaks just because Adam Freeland is suckin'? What about all the other bad ass DJs like Hyper, Chris Carter, Future Funk Squad, Koma & Bones, even Rennie!

Don't lose hope just because the "pretty boy" is starting to show is true colors!

And remember! 00bliss is still all about the REAL BREAKBEATS.

Oh you know we are on the same page about that. I have always given you and Travis props for coming correct and not indulging the crowd with cheese.

Perhaps I haven't done by due diligence on keeping up with the breaks releases. I think I started when i was in NYC last summer, went to 3 different record stores, and listened to all the new breaks releases for a few hours. I was listening to the same labels I always bought, and they just weren't clicking with me.

Perhaps if there was more quality international breaks dj's being featured playing inspiring and ground breaking tracks, (not cheese) i would feel different.

There just aren't enough Jathans, Travis's, Future Funk Squads, Chris Carters, and BLIM's around unfortunatley. le sigh.

I am enjoying the radio stream on oobliss.com at this time while working. It's good stuff.

    What happened to bunchapunks.com?
