    Denon DN-X800 Mixer

I'm all but set to pull the trigger on this bad boy as it has almost everything that I want (SPDIF In/Out, being chief on my list). The singular thing that is keeping me from doing so is that the mixer does not have an integrated sampler/effects engine. I thought briefly about the DN-X1500 which DOES have a sampler, but closer inspection revealed that the damned thing only had a single SPDIF Output and all analog ins... So, my question is two-fold:

    1. What is a good add-on sampler that I could get for the 800 that would have SPDIF In/Out (keeping things digital throughout is key) for a "reasonable" cost?

    2. If I were to purchase CD decks later that have integrated samplers, could I loop vinyl output through those samplers and use them instead of a standalone?

    Thanks all!

IMO Id go with the one without the effects on it. Especially if you are after sound quality.

Im not sure about the effects add on but I know Pioneer makes a semi-ok one that Ive played with before. If your goin high end Id look into single function rack-mounted effects.

and Im not positive but I am pretty sure you cant loop your phono signal thru your CD player effects.

If you want an add on sampler check out http://store.yahoo.com/topdjgear/redsocydjlos.html

It is a simple straigtforward sampler...similiar to what you find on either the Pioneer cdj800 and the djm 600 mixer.

oh and you know there is always the Pioneer EFX 500 that has all the same ampler/effects capabilities of the djm 600 mixer.

I think you may have trouble finding a sampler/effects unit with s/pidf...although I know that is not new technology, it has always been something used on higer end/studio equipment. The introduction of it to the "mainstream" so to speak is pretty recent. It may take a bit of research.

Thanks for the input, guys... This will help me immensely in figuring out what I need to do... I suppose I'm safe going for the 800 and worrying about the sampler as an add-on.
