Pet Shop Boy Rescues Abandoned Kittin

Neil Tennant from the Pet Shop Boys singled out Miss Kittin’s track Rippin Kittin as one of his all time favourite tunes this week, and urged music fans to track down the track if possible.

“It’s a haunting electro tune from a couple of years ago, with Miss Kittin innocently asking her mother if she can go out because ‘I feel like taking a life’,” he told the Standard.

“It should have been number one for three weeks but I think the Columbine massacre happened at the same time so it was not promoted.”

The ex-electroclash star turned much more serious techno type also stepped into the media world this week to promote her upcoming debut artist album I Com with a typically robust explanation of her approach to DJing.

“If I don’t have fun myself, I’m not able to please people,” she said.

“DJing must be, in a way, something selfish. I shout it loud: I don’t do it for the people, I never pretended to educate the audience.”

The track was on that electroclash comp that was included with an issue of Muzik magazine a while back. It is a good song.

Did Neil say this during Sunday's radio show? It does not seem like the kind of thing he would say in a print interview.

I put that track on my last mix, the Golden boy and Mrs. Kittin club mix matter of fact. I just love the lyrics- Mommy, can I go out and kill tonight- Sounds like an old Misfits song.
