Seems like most comedies try to wrap up with some sappy stuff at the end and to me it kinda ruins the flow of the movie. a good examples...

It doesnt usually make me dislike the movie..but I think it's a lil lame.

It is pretty lame, but it's the only way to give any closure.... it's what makes a movie a movie and not a really long sitcom.

although the sappy endings are lame.... it's better than getting out of your seat at the movies and asking yourself, "what the fuck was that".... sappy endings are just usually easy endings.

well, it couls be freeform comedy, much like spun was a comedy, not because it was supposed to be, but because i had a person (or many persons) i know that fit into every chracter in that movie. to me it was funny-- sad, but still funny.
david lynch should direct a comedy.

You're talking about comedy/dramas.
Most comedies incorporate some sort of other drama...not many things can have JUST comedy for 2 hours.
Even from the beginning of 'the comedy' (slap stick, silent comedy) from Buster Keaton to Charlie Chaplin...other plot lines have HAD to exist.
That's why we have stand up comedy videos.
