    ipod s suck

    Okay so i went out and bought me a brand spankin new 40 gig ipod on sunday (yes i do have that much music), after months of anticipation I got off my ass and dished out around $600 for one including some accessories. I excitedly raced home and immediately began overloading it with mp3's. Exactly one day later, not even having a chance to use it besides downloading mp3 on it, the POS froze up. So I promptly returned to Best Buy and exchanged it for another one thinking it to be a defective unit. After getting home and trying it again, within the hour i was back at Best Buy this time getting a full refund. I have to strongly advise anyone against purchasing this over hyped over priced technological garbage. Sure it looks slick and sexy, but the things are just too unreliable. Anyway i guess i m wondering if any ipod owners/users have had any similar experiences, or am i just a curse on technology? After having said all this, I still want one.

    my buddy has the 5 gig model and has absolutely no problems. he's had it for over a year now. he loves it.

    yeah, you're cursed. I've heard nothing but positive reviews.

    Did you check to see if it's plugged in?

    j/k... but then as a long-ago tech support person i can't tell you how many "intractable" problems I solved by plugging the cord in

    yeah, I got a 5gig one and never had a problem... infact, I love it and would trade it in for anything.

    what sucks is I actuall want the 40gig one, but this thread makes me a bit nervous.

    I heard talk aroud the water cooler though that the next generation ipod might have a record funtion with some sort of input... but I might be waaaaay off. either way, that would be dope to use for recording yours or other peeps live gigs.

    I'd be interested in using it for recording field samples, or sneaking a recording of some synths at a studio or Guitar Center store. Would be nice because I could just link it direct to my Mac and dump the samples into the computer.

    yeah i got to be cursed but the guy at best buy said he d seen a lot of them come back, but up until now i heard good things about them too, which is why i m disappointed
