    New website

So many of us have so much potentail. That dude who spilled beer on you at Buzz last week could be sitting on a track that could just blow you mind. With a bassline so good it would make you vomit !!! What are you feeling on a site devoted to EDM file sharing.

aren't there already numerous sites that provide this service?

No kidding. Is this "sharing sharing" or is it like mp3.com, just without the extreme sucking sound that goes with it?

Sounds like a good idea! Count me in.

As long as it isn't like DJ Central where people have to give their email to listen to music then its all good.

ps: DJ Central sucks! (how ironic because that site is on my signature, but not for long, when i get my other website up and running i'm out like French house, peace!)

Yea that's the idea. I can't stand mp3.com they took a good concept and didn't regulate it with people who know what they're talking about. I've tried searching for EDM on there several times and I can't lie i have found a few good artists and tracks. But it was like pulling teeth. I'm really down to showcase talent and progression :sadblue: with much more focus and what it means to you... us.

Of course we'd branch off and have all of the usual goodies like forums, calendars, news. But I want to see this do a little more besides "promising" promotion to a bunch of kooters with Acid 2.0. The true goal is to try to make this go further than the DC Bmore metro area. Because I know that some little asiain kid is sitting at his alienware right now somewhere in Kentucky with a track that will fuckin blow my mind :FUBAR: and I want you to hear it too.

The next thing I want some input on is the method of file sharing. I have four options off the top of my head.

    1. All music must be full tracks and free to all
    2. Get a solid clip of the music then contact the producer for the rest
    3. Let us regulate who gets what music by deciding fairly who's most dedicated to the cause.
    4. Artist's choice

We'll probably poll this at a later date*

Keep talkin tell me what you think

    :hmm:

It's funny you bring this up. I was considering starting the same exact thing for psytrance/breaks/ambient artists, but then a friend pointed me to http://www.electronicscene.com/ which is kind of what I had in mind.

Like someone said already, there's tons of sites out there, some lame some almost perfect. Just gotta decide if your ambitions will make your idea stand out from the crowd that's there already.

Exactly. That's why I'm asking for what other people want to see.

The biggest problem that I see is sifting through the crap. Most well known talented producers want to keep their stuff to themselves. You can't blame them. Even some of the most popular djs have lost their drive for variety, overplaying tracks and running many of them into the ground, digging their grave and shitting on it. Which is why I propose that we focus it on a true P2P site. We as the webmasters will stay out of the file sharing end.

We'll keep to reviewing and following a most frequently played track top 10 kinda deal. This forces us to "talk" to each other and form connections... friendships. Which is what this whole thing is all about.

You could have tracks on the site as a lo-fi version so people can check them out, but its not really good enough quality for others to download and play them out and/or bootleg (like if it is your own personal remix of a popular artist or something that would be easily bottlegged, if anything you should white label it yourself ;)

So as a producer you can get exposure for your tracks, and exclusivety of having your tracks for yourself.

    just a thought ;)

Webhosting is so inexpensive now days, if you are gonna produce or even post demos, you might as well build your own site. You would be able to market yourself better anyway and you wouldn't have to jocky for position on a site similar to dj central or shomething.

Or, if money is that tight gather $1-$2 from cru members, every month, and do a colletive site with you and your cru.
