this is a perfect example of what i talk about when i say there are no limits to how powerful twitter can be.

twitter is not about what you had for lunch.

shade: so Blip.FM will posts songs you are playing in Ableton Live or Traktor or Serato live to the twitter feed from the club?

no, but the article doesn't say anything about integration with ableton or serato either.

honestly any of these apps will link up with just about any kind of software you get out there with a minimum of effort. it's the idea behind it that needs to be new, which is why i kinda have to scoff at hawtin "creating" this.

blip integrates with twitter, facebook, ping.fm, pownce, tumbler, etc. and there are apps to link it with your winamp, wmp, itunes, whatever. same difference - just plug in whatever software you're using to play your tunes.

that's exactly what's awesome about twitter. it's so open and so basic that you can basically plug anything into an incredibly vast and immediate network of thousands/millions/etc.

it works by uploading song metadata through Traktor Pro’s inbuilt broadcasting functionality.

Track details are automatically posted to Richie Hawtin’s Twitter account every 30 seconds

all they did was write a couple bots and automated processes... that's it.

once again - why twitter is so awesome.

I am assuming the integration will be automatic because otherwise its worthless. And perhaps the details wont be revealed till its out due to competitive reasons. I doubt any DJ wants to punch in the names of songs as they are cued. I am sure the app he's "creating" integrates with DJ software, as opposed to a standard music player. So yes, he is creating this app since there doesn't exist one currently

edit: ok just read the article. I wish Ableton did this too

also i have to add that he gets a great big frown and glare from the social media community for not releasing this app publicly. very anti-twitter of him.

you can pretty safely bet that it will soon enough. whether ableton writes the add on or somebody else does it, it's all very basic and simple to do.
