Innovating in several styles of electronic music and bringing a live PA recognized as one of the most energetic and creative to be seen, Dirtyphonics is a worldwide phenomenon that you can't ignore.

With an incredible production level, a unique way to mix and blend different genres (electro, drum and bass, dubstep, hip hop, rock...) and a "best newcomers producers" award under their belt, Dirtyphonics is with no doubt one of the most exciting bands in today's electronic scene.
Charly, Thomas, Pitch In and Pho started traveling the world in 2006 with their incomparable live act, combining the efficiency of a DJ set to the spirit and energy of a rock concert. In 2008, the band takes a new scope when "French Fuck" gets signed to Shimon's label (AudioPorn). After its release, the 12" climbs the charts to reach the first place and stays number one for a couple of weeks, bringing them immediately forefront of the scene.
Smash Gordon certainly lives up to his name. After a freak accident where a large tank of dangerous, destructive chemicals accidentally spilled on his head, Smash was born into a world of violence, anger, and fury. Smash Gordon is known for his inability to sleep, his infinite passion for throwing large objects, inhaling small children, and smashing every single aspect of his life into small pieces. Because of this Smash Gordon is a danger to himself and everyone around him.

Smash is kept in high security behind 7 inch thick titanium bars when not performing. Even the simple presence of a hater will send him into a furious rage, causing club banger after club banger to rain endlessly upon a concertgoers gentle face. Smash has performed on stage with the likes of POTD, Deadmau5, Kill the Noise, AC Slater, Rusko, Dieselboy, Bare, and countless, countless other names. You enjoy dancing, he enjoys blowing things to pieces, and leaving nothing but rubble.
This San Jose native has been taking over stages across the states for the last two years with a high energy stage presence and bass infused sets he is crushing the dance floor with each banger he drops you. Before he was 18 Getter had already grabbed multiple releases on some underground labels: Ultragore, Prime Audio, and Chronos. What he is best known for, are his signature guttural basses he has in his tunes.
Getter is currently being supported by the biggest names in the EDM scene. Rusko, Flux Pavilion, Datsik, Borgore, Inspector Dubplate, Funtcase, and Downlink are just a few or the producers that have been supporting Getter with his music. 2012 will definitely be an epic year for this young producer, and he is NOT stopping anytime soon!

3D Productions Presents: ULTRABASS! Now EVERY Wednesday!!!

FEATURING:

*GRIDLOK (Drum & Bass / Project Fifty-One Recordings)

A true pioneer of the Drum and Bass sound, Gridlok remains one of the most highly regarded artists in the industry. With a discography spanning over a decade and featuring classics such as ‘Moodswings’, ‘Bottomfeeder’, and ‘Standing Room Only’, it’s little wonder that the Gridlok name has become synonymous with timeless Drum and Bass.

Involved with music from an early age, Ryan Powell aka Gridlok picked up a variety of instruments, but it was after experimenting with a cheap radio shack microphone paired with a 4-track tape recorder that he soon found himself in the murky world of production. Now with the use of a computer and an E-mu sampler along with an ever-changing combination of analogue gear and production techniques, this West Coast producer has led by example, constantly exploring new ways of injecting emotion and attitude into his art.

The grimy uncompromising style that Gridlok has developed forms the foundation for his glittering career, gaining him the attention of his peers with household names such as Shy FX, Pendulum, and Dom and Roland lining up to work with the American producer. Acknowledged by artists in and out of Drum and Bass, Gridlok has put his spin on other genres, remixing for the likes of electronica giant Josh Wink and house legend Sasha. Gridlok’s original music and remixes have also branched into other media, with his work appearing in titles such as Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution and MTV’s Challenge series. Covering a wide spectrum within Drum and Bass, Gridlok’s versatile production has allowed him to release on a diverse range of labels, spanning from Ram Records and Playaz to Commercial Suicide and Moving Shadow, whilst maintaining his signature sound.

In 2003 Gridlok continued to forge his own path, launching the Project 51 Recordings imprint. Designed as an avenue for underground cutting edge music, Project 51 has featured gritty no-nonsense tracks from heavyweights such as Optiv, Hive, The Upbeats, as well as Gridlok himself.

After recording the ground-breaking ‘Welcome to Violence’ album on Violence Recordings in 2005 with Hive, Keaton, and Echo, Gridlok began work on the first full-length album for Project 51 Recordings. The result was ‘Break the System’, a record that represented a seminal work for the dark side of Drum and Bass. Featuring an all-star line up of the scene’s brightest stars such as Pendulum, Tech Itch, and Dieselboy, ‘Break the System’ further pushed the boundaries of DnB, and provided the groundwork for American producers to get heard around the globe.

While Project 51 was growing from strength to strength, Gridlok kept close ties to Violence Recordings. Building the Violence imprint into a musical powerhouse, it went on to release some of the most influential Drum and Bass records to ever come out of the Americas. Released in 2006 and a joint project between Hive and Gridlok along with Break, D-Bridge, and Silent Witness, ‘Standing Room Only’ was inevitably one of the biggest anthems of the year, and remains a classic still being heard today.

In 2009 Gridlok put into practice all that he had learned, releasing what he considers to be his first true solo album. A collection of 13 dark, unsettling solo cuts, ‘Void’ represented a milestone in Gridlok’s career, and one in which he reached new levels of creativity and originality. Highly acclaimed in the Drum and Bass scene and beyond, ‘Void’ also saw Gridlok’s brand of DnB acknowledged by the rest of the world, with MTV licensing and regularly playing 9 of the CD’s 13 tracks on the world’s most-watched music channel.

Last year was one of the producing veteran’s biggest years to date, with a host of varied releases on Drum and Bass’s hottest labels. After dropping collaborations with Blokhe4d on Bad Taste and Hospital Records, next came the release of the Playaz anthem “Tru Born Playaz”, a call to arms featuring MC Fats and Prolix. In addition to huge joint projects, Gridlok also kept up his solo productions, dropping the stripped-back ‘Enemies of the State’ on Commercial Suicide as well as unleashing the paranoia-inducing ‘Insecticide’ on his own P51 imprint. The creepiest track of 2011, the cold blooded, fidgety sounds of ‘Insecticide’ found their way into raves across the world, showing Gridlok’s innate ability to set the trend and stay ahead of the curve.

2012 has already given us more first-class production from the West Coast’s finest export, kicking off the year hard with the massive ‘Poisonous’, a venomous joint effort with Prolix. Heavily supported by Radio 1’s Bailey and already smashing up clubs worldwide, ‘Poisonous’ is merely the start of a year that promises to be another exciting chapter in Ryan Powell’s illustrious career. Now with ‘The American Dream’ project forthcoming on P51, more releases on Playaz ready to drop, and a tour de force with Noisia and The Upbeats in the pipeline, Gridlok continues to innovate - pushing the envelope whilst staying true to his craft.

*MAYHEM (Drum & Bass/Dubstep / SLR/Vision/Ram Records/SubHuman)

Chart topping, dance floor rocking, and taste making come naturally to Atlanta based producer, DJ, label executive and promoter Mayhem. With over 15 years in the studio and 13 years on the decks, he has garnered the attention of the heavyweights in every genre of his focus. Rooted heavily in Drum & Bass music, and with a discerning ear, 28 year old Mayhem found himself making big moves from an early age. From releasing records for Andy C, TeeBee, Dieselboy, Noisia, and Black Sun Empire to DJing across the world for massive crowds in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and beyond; he has warranted a reputation for diversity and quality control. Collaborating with and developing artists such as Noisia, Le Castle Vania, Phace, Evol Intent, Sinthetix, Gein and Gridlok amongst many others, his production soared to new heights with "Exodus (featuring the legendary KRS-1)", "Moonway Renegade", and "Choke" with Noisia. Boundless inspiration pushed Mayhem to pursue Dubstep in it's formidable years, immediately signing with the reputable Subway Records, as well as Indie/Electro under the moniker Rrrump. As of late his focus has been brought back to home on the forefront a movement combining southern Rap music with Dubstep collaborating with long time friend Heroes + Villains. His club nights Transit, Fuck Yesss, Heavy, Tambor Y Bajo, Atlanta Dubstep and Haute Mess have helped reshape Atlanta's nightlife. No matter the genre, you are guaranteed a diverse set with attention to detail and a healthy respect for dynamics and balance. This is Mayhem.
Since 2001 she has released a consistent stream of well received mix compilations and a slew of well charting original and group productions and remixes of many genres: drum & bass, 2 step, breaks, fidget house, electro, dubstep and even moombahcore. She is now most known for helming the Play Me Records and Play Me Too brands. 2011 saw her produce and co-headline the US portion of the groundbreaking Play Me Records Bass Monster Tour with FS & Cyberoptics, which received a tremendous Stateside response and was sponsored by Beatport. The tour spawned a #2 charting hit of the same name ("Bass Monster") by Reid & FS as well as their "Pussy Weed Money" Remix of "Die Famous" for Burn the Fire which also clocked in at #2. The success of the US portion of the tour has resulted in an upcoming Play Me Bass Monster Europe Tour, which will lead the brand and Speed to Europe in 2012 with Dubsidia, The Unik and Tha Trickaz.
In just over 2 years, Play Me Records and Play Me Too have indisputably taken the Beatport charts by storm, with a string of #1, top 10s, and nearly every release charting in the top 100. They have broken more new artists than any other label of its kind, helping to launch the careers of artists like Cyberoptics, FS, J. Rabbit, Run DMT, Twist, Bassex, Dubsidia, and Bare, to name just a few. 2010 saw Play Me Records voted Dubstep Label of the Year by Beatport and Symphonic Distribution.
Reid got her start in the New York City underground working behind the counter at the legendary Breakbeat Science record store. A chance trip to the UK in the summer of '97 led to her love affair with 2 step and speed garage. As one of the first US DJs to champion these genres (which morphed into todays's fidget house and dubstep), both Reid and Play Me's steady climb come as no surprise to those who know her history. Soon after she began DJing full time she was holding residencies with Stuck on Earth, Direct Drive & Camouflage while in college at the School of Visual Arts. Producing tracks for and with likes of Ming & FS and Le Tigre came along soon after, along with involvement in a seminal series of parties that introduced artists like Deekline, MJ Cole, & Stanton Warriors to the NYC underground. Signing to Breakbeat Science's label in 2001, she released her first mix "Resonance" to much critical acclaim, and successfully followed it up with 2003's "Life After Dark." On subsequent tours with Om artists Ming & FS and Colette, and on her own CD release tours, she has honed her precise genre mashing mixing skills and developed a synergy with her crowds that is unmatched. Those who have listened to her mixes or seen her live agree, whether controlling the floor, in the studio, or behind the decks, Reid pushes the music forward every step she takes.
ORIGINAL SIN (Drum & Bass / Dubstep / Playaz Recordings / Image Muzik)

While some of you may not be 100% familiar with the name Original Sin, all will become clear when you realise that this is the new production alias of none other than Adam Tindall, one half of the undisputed kings of Jump Up Drum & Bass, G Dub. If you consider yourself a fan of Drum & Bass then undoubtedly you will have heard of G Dub, the Geordie duo who have been destroying raves with their inimitable blend of rig mashing beats for over half a decade, and it's thanks to this tireless reputation for crafting straight up club bangers that Adam has become renowned for his outstanding studio skills.

Born and bred in Newcastle, Adam was initially drawn to Drum & Bass by the diverse sounds and inspirational production values collectively provided by some of the scene's most respected names. Albums such as the incredible 'Platinum Breakz' compilation from the Metalheadz camp, and Grooverider's legendary 'Prototype Years' album sucked him in and started him on a journey that would see him rise to the very top of the Drum & Bass scene. His love for the music grew and grew until the desire to become more actively involved in the scene took hold and he took up DJing shortly before enrolling himself at Music College.

Dedicating all of his spare time to honing his craft, Adam met up with Jake at college, and that's where the infamous Generation Dub was forged. However, it wasn't long before the pair realised that Music College, far from teaching them the skills required to create the kind of beats their musical heroes had inspired them with, was actually a pointless pursuit and they both decided to quit to concentrate on their music at home.

Adam already had a reputation as an excellent local DJ around Newcastle, including at his own Area 51 events. Using his DJing as an opportunity to road test his tracks and to give them to visiting headliners for feedback, Adam quickly started to get encouragement from the bigger names in the scene, and it wasn't long before none other than DJ SS snapped up two of G Dub's early productions for his Reformed imprint.

'Ghost Busters' and 'Monster Sound' were well received, and with this new impetus spurring them on the pair knuckled down in the studio, creating a succession of dancefloor killers that cemented their reputation as one of the hottest new acts around; their reworking of Total Science's classic 'Champion Sound' and 'Body Snatchers' on Formation in particular marked G Dub as a name to watch.

Of course the successive deal with DJ Hype & Pascal's immense Ganja imprint proved to be the making of the G Dub franchise, as Adam and Jake's studio let off more anthems than an Olympic Games opening ceremony and tracks such as 'Tink Ya Bad?', 'Warp Speed' 'Forever' and 'Beast City' have collectively smashed up more dancefloors than a specialist nightclub demolition team.

From now on however, G Dub is no more and Original Sin is the future for Adam. The ridiculously heavy 'Don't Be Silly' and his remix of Shy FX's classic Ebony Dubsters track 'Rah' have gone a long way to stamping his individual mark on the Drum & Bass scene, and there's no signs of slowing down. As a result of these massive tracks that have been smashing down dancefloors like a scorned noise abatement officer, Original Sin's DJ bookings have gone through the roof and Adam is working hard in the studio to ensure that his new alias has even more success than his previous incarnation. With skills like his, we're expecting huge things!
::: BIOSPHERE | MARCO CAROLA :::

Marco Carola is the recognized global ambassador of Italian techno. It's a position he treats with the utmost care and respect—and one that stands him among the hallowed company of contemporary techno's leading practitioners. Hailing from Napoli in the south of the country, Marco was among a small group of DJs and promoters who quite literally built the city's scene from scratch back in the early-'90s. In 1995's First Planet EP he became the first Neopolitan artist to commit techno to vinyl, paving the way for an entire generation of producers. These days Marco is a mainstay of Richie Hawtin's Minus and Plus 8 labels, who, much like Marco himself, are one of the driving forces behind techno's permeation of the worldwide dance scene.

Napoli, 1993, and the enduring flame of the Italo house sound had begun to smolder. The young DJ Marco Carola had at this point been spinning house music for a number of years— but as commercial club music began to assert a stranglehold over Italy, and the hopelessly insular media of the country's north continues to shun the south, a change is afoot. Fuelled by a groundswell of local DJs, clubbers and promoters; visits from DJs like Richie Hawtin and Jeff Mills; and Napoli's long held propensity for underground music, the city's techno scene enters into its embryonic stage. Marco along with friends Davide Squillace, Gaetano Parisio, Danilo Vigorito, Rino Cerrone and Random Noize are at the vanguard of this early movement, and with no one outside of the city to take cues from, the Neopolitan scene becomes a force unto itself.

If they're doing their job properly every DJ will have a calling card, and as Marco puts it, he was "born" with a three-deck style of mixing. This fast and furious approach also lent itself to use of a sampler, which would later provide the grounding for Marco's work as a producer. By 1995 he had amassed a considerable body of music, but with no indigenous labels to put-out his creations, Marco was forced to take matters into his own hands. Design Music was set up with a humble aim: for people to experience the music of Marco Carola. But as sales on its initial release, First Planet, entered into the tens of thousands and Sven Vath became an ardent early supporter, it was clear Design, and by extension Carola, were set for far bigger things.

Aiding this ascent was Marco's concise approach to the release of music. The remainder of the '90s saw him establish the Zenit, Question and One Thousand labels—all with a clear musical aim, and, in the case of the latter, a defined number of releases. In 1998 he relocated to Frankfurt in order to further his advancement in the burgeoning techno scene. This new home base unlocked myriad opportunities for him to export his now famous three-deck style to clubs across the globe, although by 2001 he was already seeking a fresh challenge and thusly moved on to the electronic music stronghold of London. In retrospect the year proved to be pivotal. Marco released his second album, Open System (following on from 1998's The 1000 Collection), to widespread critical acclaim. Key German publication Groove deemed its multifarious, texturally rich approach to broken beats, techno and electronica worthy of their album of the year accolade.

Renewal: for a 20-year veteran such as Marco, shedding your creative skin and following your instincts are fundamental means of remaining relevant. By 2004 he had reached a plateau of sorts, and was torn. The harder techno sound he'd been pushing for so many years had elevated him to the scene's top tier, but inside he harboured a burning desire for musical upheaval; a lust for refinement, to slow things down and get back to the groove. Now residing back in Napoli, Marco began a process of reinvention, starting with a focus on bookings at smaller clubs with more underground sensibilities that better suited his new, more considered style and offered the opportunity to hone it over the course of longer, extended sessions. Domestic Minimal Noise was set-up as a bridge between the Marco Carola of old and new, evidenced by the label's pacey yet undoubtedly funk-fuelled output.

The encapsulation of this transformation came a couple of years later, however, as Marco reneged on his stance of not recording mix CDs (he always felt his three-deck, club-ready style was inappropriate for the form) and agreed to contribute to London club fabric's seminal mix series. Fabric 31 was a lesson in sleek, future-facing minimalism. The disc introduced Marco to an entirely new audience and clearly illustrated an artist revelling in a fresh creative perspective.

2007's Apena would also prove to be hugely significant. The release heralded his first collaboration with Richie Hawtin's Plus 8/Minus stable. This family environment has since established a platform from which Marco has been encouraged to express himself with unbridled creative freedom. The most widely recognized example of this was 2008's undeniable earworm "Bloody Cash" which garnered Plus 8 with one of that year's biggest techno tracks. Both Minus and Plus 8 have continued to host his 12-inch productions at regular intervals (Plus One, Plus Two and Walking Dog to name a few), and in 2M Marco has been granted his own sub-label (strictly limited to 2000 copies per release) to curate as he sees fit.
Ibiza has become more and more of a key destination for Marco through the years, and in 2010 this was solidified by his residency at Cocoon's Monday night Amnesia sessions. Party ringleader Sven Vath showed further faith in Marco by asking him to mix Cocoon's Party Animals CD alongside Nick Curly, building on the foundations laid down by Marco's double-disc Time Warp 2009 mix, which married the deeper house end of his range with his now trademark groove-ridden techno.

When it came to following up Open System Marco knew it must be with something exceptional. "I've been working like crazy on Play It Loud," he says on the travail behind his latest full-length. "I've never been working like this, not even when I was a kid and I wanted to be known!" The resulting album is the perfect amalgamation of Marco's DJ and production sensibilities. Play It Loud's 18 tracks are presented in mix form and explore what proved for Marco to be a highly fertile middle-ground between home listening and the dancefloor—a reduced tempo and complete creative license from Minus allowed Marco to burrow deeper into his sound than ever before. "I always try to do something new," he says. "When I produce, or when I DJ, I don't really think about where I want to go musically, I just start to feel."

Originally named DJ Icee, he had to change his name because a local Orlando ice cream manufacturing company by the same name threatened to sue him. was born in Florida. Known for marrying the diverse strands of Chicago Hip house and English break-beat house, he rose to prominence DJing for the now defunct Orlando club The Edge, a position he held from 1991 to 1996. In 1993, he created his own label, Zone, named in honor of the UK labels O-Zone and D-Zone. In 2000, CMJ New Music Monthly described him as "an expert in funky, sped-up hip-hop", and by 2001, Billboard was listing him along with Crystal Method, DJ Micro and Überzone as "perennial figure in the burgeoning funky breaks underground scene."
AK1200 (Drum & Bass / Big Riddim Recordings/Boombox Audio)

The longest running D&B DJ in the USA. Member of the infamous Planet of the Drums crew. Founder of Big Riddim Recordings. Dave, AK1200, has been a driving force within Drum and Bass culture in America since its inception. From his legendary mix CD's to his extensive list of high profile remixes and original tunes, he has maintained a presence within the scene for more than 20 years. For lack of a better term, AK is a "classically" trained DJ, mixing live for each crowd. Every set is unique and completely dependent on what gets the best reaction from the floor that night.

In a time where the EDM scene has completely reinvented itself, AK1200's explosive sets have been spreading the fever to a whole new fan base. These new fans, hungrier than ever for the absolute best in electronic music, are steadily looking not for their house, but for their home. Once they hear "the one" set that changes everything, they will have found it. AK1200 plays those sets, trust! And D&B will become your home, it always does.

AK, alongside Bill Hamel, and Meaux Green have recently formed a new project titled 2against1. Under this moniker expect a constant surge of electrifying d&b tunes aimed straight for the neck, and when they hit, they gonna hurt. AK1200 and 2against1. that's two names you best get to know, cos shits about to go down.
ABOUT OUR GUESTS

ANTHONY COLLINS
-The young DJ/producer ANTHONY COLLINS has proved to be the rising star on the French house and techno scene. In a brief period, he has accumulated signings to cutting-edge labels, and has performed at some of the world's most notorious after-hours parties.More recently, as production success has pushed the his name further, an increase in DJ sets have followed in Ibiza, Macarena, Barcelona, Berlin, Circo Loco, and at the end club in London. Anthony describes his style as a mix of house, techno and deep tech-house. Not being a DJ who puts one hit record after another, his DJ sets benefit from always blending meticulously chosen tracks with a real artistic reason to it.Best of all, Anthony Collins production skills have reached another level and the bar is constantly being raised with each and every track. Europe's finest record labels have not been slow to pick up on this. Anthony Collins will be showcasing his distinct sounds all over the world this year, but honors us with a guest apperance at his debut to SUNGLASS SUNDAYS here in our nations capital.

DAN GHENACIA
- Is the undisputed kingpin of the Paris techno scene, one of France’s hottest DJ exports and is the man who founded and ran for 7 years the critically and popularly adored Freak N Chic that sadly closed down a few months ago because of an unexpected dispute between the financial partners. Not bad going for a man who admits he once refused to listen to “anything other than 120bpm deep house” and was told once as a teenager that he wasn’t “cool enough” to go raving!
How times change! Dan’s love affair with music ignited when he spent a year in California, soaking up early West Coast house and psychedelia. Dan parleyed this passion into a record selling business on his return to Paris, but as a true fan of the music he didn’t just want to peddle vinyl – he wanted to play it. The next few years of Dan’s career flashed past in a whirl of light, sound and notoriety as he helmed a notorious after-party at Batofar. It made his name in Paris and started to generate a buzz around Europe, where he was increasingly travelling. But – at the height of its success – Dan pulled the plug. “People were really unhappy,” he recalls, but he had new challenges to meet.
Quitting a successful night can break an average DJ – but it can make a great one, and Dan used his new-found freedom to accelerate his career, stamping his distinctive intelligent-techno-meets-deep-house sound on influential clubs like Fabric and The End in London, Tenax in Italy, and Space and DC10 in Ibiza.
Always averse to peer pressure, Dan avoided Ibiza for years – until DC10 won him over – and he quickly scored a coveted residency there. “I was afraid Ibiza was going to be cheesy,” he grins. This caution about chasing “the next big thing” is apparent in Dan’s work – and it’s the trait that has enabled him to effortlessly ascend to the dance music A-list without ever compromising his style. Both as a DJ and producer, and as a label’s head, Dan unfailingly stands for quality over quantity, substance over style, and, well, freakiness over mere chic. His Freak n’Chic label had been running for seven years and
through his long-standing residency at Circoloco in DC10 and years of subsequent touring, the Ghenacia gospel has spread far and wide. Discovering artists such as Dyed Soundorom, Djebali, Anthony Collins and even releasing the debut Jamie Jones EP, Dan knows good music and continues to deliver it. This year brings a compilation The sound of the city: Paris to be out in May, as well as the launch of a new label alongside his buddies Shonky & Dyed Soundorom and new material coming out on others labels.
Now, with a new Paris studio to help give vent to his creativity Dan is looking forward to doing more production work; ‘Who stole the freaks’ is the first EP Dan engineered by himself and only his second solo release on the label and shows him to be an accomplished master of his skill. Indeed the acclaimed ‘Globe’ EP that followed shortly after on Crosstown Rebels ...
And with the bookings pouring in, Pulp Freaktion winter series @ Rex club, a summer Residency @ Underground Batofar and still the infamous Monday sessions at DC10 in Ibiza, expect even greater things from Dan as he continues to pursue his unique musical vision !

To some, it must seem like this young electronic producer came out of nowhere this year, but those in the know have been following Emancipator since he self-released his first album, "Soon It Will Be Cold Enough," at the age of 19 in 2006. His agile melodies layered over headnodic, immaculately-produced beats captivated fans across the internet and across the world. "Soon It Will Be Cold Enough" was picked up by Japanese super-producer Nujabes, pressed in Japan and sold 5,000 copies in the first six months. Emancipator landed a Puma sponsorship, gave an interview to Rolling Stone Japan, and even had his song "Maps" played at the Beijing Olympics.

His latest album "Safe In The Steep Cliffs" blends new instrumentation and organic samples with the signature Emancipator style of clean production, silky melodies and addictive drums. Dense layers of choirs, horns, American folk instruments such as the banjo and mandolin, violin and some distinct Asian influences make for a playful but refined album built out of intricate tracks listeners can enjoy on as many levels as they want. Dance to it, chill out to it, immerse your mind in it.

Dabrye (an alias of Ann Arbor's Tadd Mullinix) is best known for creating head-nodding beats with saw-tooth bass lines and a keen eye to forward-thinking production. With support from both the hip-hop underground and the electronic music press, he has earned a place in URB's Next 100 and XLR8R's Top 100 albums, among other accolades. Dabrye's trilogy began with One/Three in

2001, which was followed by the Instrmntl mini-album for Scott Herren's (Prefuse 73) Eastern Developments label. Both releases earned glowing reviews for their handmade rhythmic style and minimalist execution. 2006's Two/Three LP steps up the beatmaking ingenuity and spotlights Mullinix's favorite underground MCs, including Doom, J Dilla, Vast Aire, and Wildchild to create a major statement for the new Hip-Hop sound of Detroit.
