It seems they've put a lot into it though...website etc. and probably won't change. Just interesting that "it's back" after a hiatus. It appears like they've either taken a hiatus from the entire scene, not having noticed the other PULSE parties, or are trying to tap into something that's gaining momentum. Both of which are lame.

I think you're being a bit presumptuous with your post. It's not a fact that everyone would know about Pulse at Be Bar and just because someone didn't know about it doesn't mean they aren't a part of the "scene".

Truth be told, this is the first time I've ever heard of Pulse at Be Bar. I can definitely say that the promoter isn't trying to "tap into something that's gaining momentum" by using the same name that your party is.

The "Pulse" name was definitely something J-punch was using long before this Febuary so in contrast maybe the promoters of the Be Bar Pulse should have possibly realized that there was an event of the same name in the recent past and they are the ones who are confusing people.

i used to call parties "warm" and "rendezvous" but didn't get a lawyer when those names were used. there's kind of a limited universe of names out there. sort of how all radio stations have to pick from a few dozen names - "the frog" "the arrow" "Q10x" or whatever.

I doubt that you're trying to squeeze in on 88's Pulse name, but it's definitely not cool to be having two events with the same name! I can't say I've been here in the area and on the board for any longer than a year and a half, but in that time, Pulse @ Spank or anywhere else has never come across my attention. Should 88 have to dug back into the past history of DC to find this out? That's kinda silly. After a year and a half, things like that don't really count.

I can understand a tiff over this, but hopefully people can get this figured out without any bad blood brewing! But two regularly occurring events with the same name, in the same city, on the same board just doesn't seem kosher.
