I just revamped my comp. I noticed when I was trasfering my files back from my external that I lost a good deal of tracks, really just from a two week span or so. They were all from beatport and i know they have all the tracks you've d/l in your library. Does anyone know how much it would cost to get those back, they have the redownload option but I'm not sure how that works. Any help would be stellar.

generally the redownload option is only available to you w/in 48 hours to assist if a download doesn't complete properly...
I think after that, most, if not all, digital download sites charge you full price to repurchase the tracks...

No, just E-mail them and tell them what happened. They (at least used to be) very customer service friendly. I lost a lot of tracks a few years back and I told them what they were and they made them available for me to download again.

I have had similar results with their customer service with this issue.

was your order over $200?
No it was like $60. It worked fine like 2 days later but I didn't get to play the songs at the gig I was buying them for. It's no biggie but it did frustrate me they never emailed me back and they have no customer service phone number. The beatport forum is quite handy though.

I asked cause I know they have (or had) some sort of odd credit card limit where it would decline you if your order was over $200... problem is that it didn't really let you know... I learned this the hard way once... had to call in a favor to find out what was up...

it was explained to me that this was a measure put in place on account of some sort of credit card fraud going on... not really sure what's that about...
on a completely tangential note... I was just happy to notice that the Sleaze chart for October is listed as one of the featured "electrohouse" charts!!!

we're doing monthly charts on there now...
this month was a combined chart, but we're going to start making it so that we rotate every month and have a different member featured... not sure if we'll do another combined chart once every four months or just keep the rotation on a one to one basis... but we've got a while before we have to make that decision ;)

infectedskazi-
Were you still missing any tracks? I don't mind clearing out your download library and reauthorizing the ones you haven't already recieved.
If it makes it any easier for you you can simply forward any invoices with missing tracks highlighted and we'll get it sorted.
Judson Myers-
If you could send me your account information (username, email address) I can look into what sorts of problems you are running into with our payment system.
Please feel free to contact me at michael.lomboy@beatport.com if anyone has any other questions or concerns.

you can direct link to a specific release...
don't know that you can do it for a track... but that should narrow you down far enough for most purposes?

The release number is right on the page with the track. But yeah, you can email yourself the info as well. You only need the release number; you can leave off the portion after the number with the track artists name.

Is anyone else havin issues with login on Beatport?
A few days ago I got a message saying I had to change my password due to Beatport getting a new login system. When I followed the link they sent me, it just went to the homepage. Where clearly there was not anywhere to change the password... I tried this several times with the same result. I tried re-requesting the cahnge password link to be sent to my email but again got the same result.
Only today when I started again fresh by re-re-rere-requesting the change password link, was I able change my password and login.

another unreleated beatport question
how do you direct link to the beatport page with your releases
you used to be able to do something like this
http://www.beatport.com/mojo+jones
and it would take you to your release page (but does not work anymore)
just takes you to the main beatport page
anyone know the new way to direct link to your release page????
stormryder
2007-11-13, 10:38 AM
See the second page of the thread. You link to it by release number.
Go to your release, click on the email a link to yourself functionality, then post that link.
Also, talk with Beatport themselves, as they have some way of embedding all your releases into a web page (a lot of myspace profiles of artists have this).

I emailed Customer Service the other day about a track download that failed (off the new AIR downloading tool, some weird file error because there was a strange symbol in the file name) but haven't got a response. Can you get me any assistance with that?

Sent a PM. It's a really weird error. I've now got this Windows folder that I can't access, delete, etc. I've been reading up on ways to try and do it, but honestly haven't bother with it for the moment. I think it's all because it titled the folder "Misc." (with the period). Normally that's not an issue with Windows, but it's probably an Adobe AIR problem.
BeatportMikeL
2007-11-13, 01:06 PM
It's actually the way AIR and Windows deal with file naming / conventions.
If you want to remove / gain access to that folder you can do so by changing it's extended filename from the command line.
Here is an example (Windows XP):
Inaccessible folder
C:\Documents and Settings\[user folder]\Desktop\Beatport Music\Misc.
-Open Windows Explorer (Windows Key + E)
-Navigate to one level above the inaccessible folder (C:\Documents and Settings\[user folder]\Desktop\Beatport Music)
-Start a console (Windows Key + R, Type "cmd" and run)
-The console should look something like
C:\Documents and Settings\[user folder]\Desktop\Beatport Music>(if it doesn't just type "cd C:\Documents and Settings\[user folder]\Desktop\Beatport Music")
-From here you are going to type "dir/w/x" and hit enter which will display your folder contents plus their short names.
You'll notice that the short name for your hidden folder is something like MISC~1
-To fix that you will need to type "rename MISC~1 MISC" which renames the folder to MISC
-You can do whatever you want with that folder now inside of Windows
(You won't have to do this for much longer as the latest build of the Downloader seems to have resolved this issue)

Thanks. That's actually handy knowledge. I searched the internet high and low trying to figure it out. I had figured you could do it from the command line, but had no idea that the short file name for the "Misc." directory was different from it's actual name. That actually resolved everything too, because I can access the track in there now. I'm RDP'd into my home computer from work, so I'll check the track when I get home.

yup got it thanks! you da man
is there a standard format that one can use to set this up if you want to direct link to a label or to a certain release for any promo stuff on message boards or email etc
is there a standard format or is different for each one you want to setup
thanks!

The easiest way to get a direct link to a release is through the "Send to a Friend" feature as it will auto generate a link for you.
We are building a tool to make this easier for all other types of linking to the site and hope to have it available soon.
For the semi technical savvy you can monitor the POSTDATA being passed back and forth in their browser to extract the IDs for charts/artists/tracks/releases/labels/etc and modify existing calls with the new information. It's one method but definately not something we want to force people to do.
