This was announced last week, should be released before the end of the year.

Besides the audio engine being upgraded, I think the best new features are..
Multiple Automation Lanes for producers

Nudge buttons for DJ. (Huge for anyone who dj's with live)

The new Spectrum Analyzer looks cool, along with Native Side Chaining.
Can't wait till this is released!!!

Live is a lot easier to learn then Logic or Cubase, IMO.. It might not have all the fancy features that logic does, but it's defiantly not lacking the essentials to make a good track.

don't think they are doing the free upgrade this time around, although I could be wrong... I've gotten a ton of emails from these guys, and haven't seen anything that makes me think it's free :(
Oh well, they do a great job, normally worth the money for the changes they make.

it seems they copied Reason's REX editor/slicer and Guru's (the VSTi) drum machine.

Does it include a tutorial on how to rock out like Daft Punk?

It's mainly for beatmatching from CDs to Live so you can make pitch bends. Before you would have to change the entire tempo of the arragment.. It was possible but tricky to learn.

'Live is all you need'-perhaps this is what the Beatles would say if they were at the peak of their musical careers right now?
Seriously, I can honestly say I've tried damn near every major sequencer out there, and I just can't look back now. Live cuts all the bullshit out of the process. No matter what genre or lack of genre's youre making, IMO.
I wish they would implement 5.1 support tho!!!! Can't wait for the native beatslicing + REX functionality.

i think the GUI of the sequencer blows for production. And it can't manipulate audio in nearly the ways Cubase can. Live is a great tool to add on to the studio but i would never use it as my prime sequencer.
