Aight. We've all heard em in Drum n Bass tracks.
Pendulum
SPOR
Ewun
Subfocus...
WHERE DO I GET SAMPLES LIKE THAT!?
My shit comes out all fuzzy and distorted, and yes in a BAD way, when i try to drop samples down an octave or more...sometimes even just a half step or two makes the sample shit...
BESIDES SPENDING MONEY on boxes, keybords, synthesizers and the like, anyone know of "A Poor Man's Remdey"?
thanks, appreciate ya!

don't try and do it all with one synth
it's all about layering. layer a few bass synths that hit hard at their frequency ranges. meaning.....
vst 1 - sub bass
vst 2 - mid-low bass
vst 3 - texture (not necessarily bass-y at all)

also when you use these multiple synths to create that sound (I beleive your wanting a reese) create a bus track and load a compressor onto the bus track, and route all your bass synths tracks' send's (pre-fade) to that bus track and compress them together.
...and keep experimenting....you might just find something new that you like!

what are you using for your sounds

ACID Express...freeware. I don't have the capabilities you guys are talkin about st this time, and can't add effects onto my tracks. It's $70 for the upgrade, but things like rent and groceries always get in the way. lol.
I'll keep those all in mind though THANKS!!.
Also, i DLd my new samples from http://www.drumnbass.be/downloads.html
a rather rescourceful site. The Breaks and Dave Akuma drum packs are awesome, but their bass selection is kinda low.
Any other suggestions? Freeware, etc..
Clean preferably..lol.

Id save up and invest in a proper sequencing program like Cubase SX vs. dumping any more money into Acid.
just my .02

also make sure you're eq'ing properly. you have to make room for all those tracks... :) if you don't need a certain sound in frequencies that others should shine in then eq a few db back.

Yeah, been toying with the eqs. i think im going to have to mute all the tracks and solo each one after i get the main body done, filter them through my mixer one at a time and then rebuild.
just thinkin about it makes me not want to make music anymore.lol.
cuz we all know that some traacks need some umph while others dont.

yeah. It's not that i get burned out, or blocked..it's just all the damned work that has to go into it.
Im a point and click kinda dude. I like being able to work on a track for a day and have a finished product. Jam session style.

thats not the way to go.
gotta have patience.
i'm currently working on a track with some fuzzy distorted bass.....(think: three faces)
trust, it takes time to get what you want.
experimentation also.
like said above though, get a proper sequencing program.
also, hardware makes it 10,000x as easy to fuck with the sounds.....well, hardware + software. im not just talking a midi controller though.
we got a couple of grooveboxes (mc808, mc909, & mpc4000) and i dunno how i lived without them.
its been way smoother since those were dropped into our lives.
