At the core of everything Mazi Namvar aka Audio Soul Project does is a restless drive to innovate. Whether he's behind the decks, crafting music in the studio, or working on his own Gourmet Recordings label, Mazi's goal is the same: to keep challenging boundaries and perceptions. It's a risky proposition in a dance music culture saturated with the similar, but simply put, if Mazi's done it before, he's not going to do it again. <br><br>
This relentlessly forward-thinking approach has focused Mazi throughout his ten-plus years of making dance music. He's released over 150 productions and remixes, and DJ'ed in every corner of the world, but his sound is constantly evolving, a creative process that shows no signs of slowing down. While he spent part of 2004 assessing where he was musically, he's begun 2006 with a renewed fever for his music, and with a slate of ambitious projects on the horizon.<br><br>
DJing has always been Mazi's first passion, and his recent sets have been particularly inspired. Yo, Stinkmitt are touring again and playing on mi roof at Club Five on Saturday.

If you haven’t heard of Stinkmitt, they are 2 fine ladies from Vancouver who do there thing live in a special dirty way. They rock that hip-hop/electro-clash vibe with a bit a soul and swerve.
Ill be opening up with a set of jiggy music, and radio remixes for the masses. The ladies will put on a little show, and then we will be playing electro-clash and B-more to close the night out. Betty Ford will get on the decks with me, and Lady P, will be freestyling and mcing so that the night is closed out right.

Just arrived back home.. A great Night at Five.... From pregaming at Fuddruckers (that had to be a first) to all the great sets by 2RIP, EDAN & HOPE , MAZI.. That was one hot non-stop dancing night right up till 5am. An amazing set by MAZI with some of the meanest hardest bass beats, to make me move right till the end... I'm glad you brought him to DC. Hope he comes back real Sooon!!!!!!!!!!!

The cool thing was Erikkah was running the lights for them alot of the night.. She didnt create them but they were under her control..lol It is really cool what they have done with the projectors and that scrim or whatever it is above the dance floor.

I walked into Club Five at about 9:55 and was supposed to start playing at 10pm. As I'm going up the stairs I hear hip hop bumping. I'm thinknig "they must be doing a soundcheck without me."

I get up to the dancefloor and the place is packed, I'm the only white guy, and some dude is going to town on the turntables. I'm thinking "Is this really Saturday night??" So I get in the booth and ask him if it was a private party & he mentions that it's a wedding reception. I'm thinking to myself "okay i need to start playing at 10pm.... but if i do i'm going to clear the venue"

We were able to get everything straightened out though. Really fun times & I thank Edan again for having me out. You know to keep me in mind the next time you do an event, sir!

I have really had a blast listening to Mazi and watchinghim work in the booth. I did not know him before tonight, as soon as i came home i downloaded the set he has on my space. He is far more electro/techno (dont quote me on this as I am Genre Challenged) than i usually listen too but I am absolutely loving the shit out of his music I havent stopped bouncing since he started. Mazi has played a couple of time in Baltimore in the past (Sonar -- once at the old Canton Square location and once at the current locale -- both a few years ago), and he will be at Mosaic on 9/20, with Jay Tripwire. He is a wicked producer, as well.
