"If I just eat this pretzel, and cup of yogurt and drink water the rest of the day, I'll lose more weight"
Achtung! You will NOT, your body needs steady meals throughout the day to keep your metabolism going strong.

Seriously though, I wish some women who think this would rethink this, because if they took the weights some of them would be smokin, lookin all toned, sweaty, tanned :freakout: sigh I need to get laid. :twatpunch:

I found this nugget in one of the links provided..
1. Weight Overload: Lifting too much weight can injure muscles and create incorrect (read ineffective) alignment of the spine. According to Parsons, one of the biggest offenders is the seated cable row, an exercise where the person sits on a bench and pulls a handle attached to a low pulley toward their midsection. "I see a large percentage of people bobbing back and forth using their unprotected lower back as the work horse," he says. The problem? They're using momentum to carry them through the exercise instead of a properly aligned spine and strong core muscles.
That's one of the things I see all the time and have to smirk to myself.. I didn't add it to the other thread where people were bitching about other people's gym habits, but I'll have to throw one in here.

:delirious: oh god, haha
Lifting too much weight != Having horrendous form
I have buddies that front squat 500 with perfect backs/spines/ligaments, but the douche trying to curl 150 by air fucking the bar while whipping his shoulders up is definitely prone for injury

Definitely.
Some people do use progressive overload on purpose, with band tension, etc, but for most guys, just like you said a total gym pet peeve...the people swinging their backs on the cable rows or the lat pulldowns, rocking their legs back and forth on the pullups, lifting their torso up straight on the bent over rows, using leg drive on the standing calf raises, the list goes on....haha

well I have a question here since I see this suggested all the time in Men's Health/and Fitness.
Why do cardio after lifting?
Wouldn't you be able to use more energy/burn more calories if you did cardio first and then lifted? It just seems weird to see them suggest cardio after doing some heavy squats, putting your muscles in an anaerobic state, then trying to get them in to an aerobic one..

My personal trainer says it has to do with using (I forget the word he said- lycogeine or something that sounds like that maybe? lol) in your muscles and if you do cardio first you wont be as productive while lifting.
<--no expert
(figure out when/where we are grillin tomorrow and call me brutha- Im off to the gym now actually)

shoot one reason for doing cardio after lifting and not vice-versa is because its kinda wierd trying to lift while ur soaked in sweat and then getting sweat everywhere in a public facility or even at home.
ps. one thing i hate about this online articles is that it sends the message that only women care about or are trying to get/stay in shape. Lots of guys are doing the same this as well.
Of course I do real mens health, and subscribe to askmen.com

oh course ur gonna sweat no matter wat, cuz thats just wat a good work out will do to u. but i was referring to the torrential down pour that happens when u run for 3 miles/30 minutes
