thank you stumble:

even if some of the posts are ignorant(10 grams of protein a day for bodybuilding? wtf), there is a shitload of info on how to lift AND go vegan.
goooooooodbye 18 ounces of chicken a day + whey shakes.

Good luck with that. One of my gym buds said ever since he went vegetarian he sleeps better, lifts more, has more energy, and is slightly faster than he was before, though he does have lots of dreams with hamburgers and sirloins in starring roles!
He eats fish for protein.

...Eating fish ==> not a vegetarian.
At best, that would classify as "semi-vegetarian", and the name should say enough.
Also, there's a big diff between going vegan and going vegetarian.

Pescetarian would probably be the best word for it. I hate when people say they're vegetarians and technically they're not. Like it gives them extra kudos or something.

looking in to it. so far i just eat poultry and veggies, some fish too(i.e. sushi) and dairy(milk, whey protein). I do want to cut poultry and dairy out, not too sure about fish though, as i have recently discovered the joys of sushi.
Been wanting to do this for a while, just couldn't find the info i needed on working out and being a vegan(or pescetarian as it were if i can't quit the sushi).

Quiet with your fancy terms, woman.
I actually just called it what I remembered from back in high school and junior high, and I'm pretty sure that none of us knew the correct word.

Why do you want to eliminate the poultry and dairy? I know there are lots of reasons out there, but I want to know what yours are.

was shown a video recently of how chickens are raised and kept. I could go organic, but fuck it, that shit gets expensive after a while.
also for health as well...i get really sluggish if i eat too much in the way of grains AND meats overall...except for the fish.

Okay but what about dairy? (although if you don't really eat dairy now, that won't be much of an issue to "stop" eating, anyway...)

yeah, factory chicken production is pretty foul.
:rimshot:
fish and pulses (beans, lentils) are a good replacement for the protein and other nutrients. and they are similarly low in saturated fat.

'free range' chickens are treated not that much better than 'regular' chickens. so you would be spending extra money to support the same purpose.

Fine, he's a pescaterian. He's still stronger and faster than when he was eating red meat.
Me, I'd just get skinnier. Red meat's what keeps most of the meat on my bones!

Awesome site! I am a vegan and run, I will have to peruse it.
We load up on vegan proteins. I made homemade super protein vegan ribs on the grill for hubby's b-day yesterday. Today I made cinnamon red lentil tomato sauce on pasta with roasted cashews. It totally is possible to load up on protein while living vegan :)

more power to ya
I'm not trying to stir up an vegetarianism discussion here, just stating a rhetorical mental meandering more than anything: I've always wondered why people give a flying fuck about how things are treated that literally have brains the size of peanuts...

but hey, if vegans don't have issues with getting enough protein, kind of makes you wonder about those 200g recommendations.
