I'm just starting to get in to singletrack, looking at getting a bike in the next couple of weeks. Don't know of anyone riding trials, but I saw a guy messing around on a trials bike at College Park bikes the other weekend.

Might want to check out www.more-mtb.org and see if anyone talking about it.

Basic trail riding. Climbs, downhill, small obstacles. Nothing crazy, I'm just starting out.

It's fun, but I sucked at it and sold my Hoffman a few years ago.

I never got to ride in Baltimore, but College Park is like a street playground.

My roommates do trials. Mostly street stuff.

There was a trials comp in richmond last year around august that my roommate and I went to so I could take pics of him competing.

Personally, even though I like trials, I don't have the patience to focus on it, so all I can really do is stuff I learned a few years ago: trackstands and some sidehops.

i think this is my model. if not, it's looks pretty much the same. i hate when people say, "hey, nice bmx." it's not a bmx. it's a trials bike. it looks nothing like a bmx. the rear tire is like, twice as thick and the front gear is tiny, compared to the bmx front gear. also, my Monty has a teeny tiny seat, and most times, i ride without it. i get a lot of funny looks. lol. oh well. trials riding is fun.

hey, man, lemme know about those trials comps. i may be interested in that again. i really need to get back on the bike.

and dude, a track stand is hard, yo. it's not little stuff, man. if you can do a good three-minute track stand, then you can do trials no problem.

yea, i learned how to trackstand many years ago, using the old school hans rey vhs tape with him teaching that monkey how to do trials.

i initially learned it out of convenience, so i didn't have to put my feet down at stop signs and stop lights when riding around the streets.

but it's saved me alot of times when i go ride at bike parks that have alot of skinny north shore bridges. at spots where i brake too hard and i don't have any more momentum to keep my balance, so i do a quick track stand then lock my brakes and rock back and forth and let go on the forward motion to get going again.

ah.. north shore bridge.. that's what I fell off of and hurt my shoulder.. of course the one I fell off of wasn't that high. I'm still quite a noob.
