Suggestions on getting a "clear" face and actually keeping it that way? Foods, products? No makeup, don't like wearing it.

I don't have a huge problem but I will clear up for a while then go back. I switch products and try new, but they only work for a lil bit and here comes the erruption.

jynx.

I wouldnt' go with cleansers either, at least not cleansers that you normally don't use. It only made it worse for me.

another tip; If you have long hair wear it up when you have a breakout. The oils from your hair can also affect the areas around your cheeks.

The everyday minerals stuff I orderred actually helps keep my face clear. I put it on in the morning, and it feels like nothing. It draws the excess oil away from my skin. I just blot with those blotter papers you can get from clean and clear, and I've noticed a serious reduction in clogged pores.

I drink water alot during the day and try to avoid a soda but i do have it now and then. I clean my phone off at work all the time too.

been thinking about the pro active thing but im not sure cuz what if that stops working too?

I go half and half on the hair thing. its up at work alot and now since its summer its up most of the time.

i have even gone as far as washing my face twice a day now with neutrogena (seemed to be the only thing that actually worked).

I dont have a serious acne problem but it seems that on certain spots of my face will break out with one or two really big fuckers. I can't stand it and lately its been making me feel ugh.

i notice it happens when i stress out too.

Your skin really is a reflection of healthy you are and your diet that is what I have learned over the years, I have really good skin, I have flaws but I really don't need to cover them because they make me, ME
I don't need to wear make-up but choose to, I don't wear tons of it because, I'm a classic beauty and don't really need it. Since I quit smoking over almost 2 years ago my skin is alot better

Cleanser:
-Clean & Clear orange burst (night)
-Neutragena mild cleanser (day)/ Witch Hazel toner
-Neutragena make-up removing cleanser pads (for those nights I come in from a late-night and want to just sleep, I keep them by my bed in reach)
- St Yves Apricot scrub (every 2-3 days not everyday)

Under Make-up:
- When I do break out: Silver tube Salystic Acid on-spot treatment Clean & Clear..it will minimize the size and make dissapear (sometimes I put a bandaide on top of the spot overnight and it works..this is if you get acne every once in a blue moon). I also slick this on when I am going to work out
-Vitamin E caplets I take them (you will see a difference in your complexion in a month), folic (you have to wait 1 year for results hair/skin/nails), Vitamin B12
- Bare essentuals vitamin complex
-non-comodegenic oil free sunscreen
-Smashbox photo-finish (smoothes skin, contains grapeseed oil it's good for skin tone and anti-aging and makes make-up look flawless)

Make-up:
-concealer: only for under eye circles and times in winter when skin around nose gets irritated from cold season, use a brush not fingertips or the stick itself..it will look too heavy

- Bare essentuals transluscent mineral veil w/ kabuki brush
-Bare essentual warmth (during spring and summer to add color when I start to tan)

- As far as Eye make-up I rarely use this unless I am going out and it's MAC

- MAC pro-longwear lipstick..the only way this comes off is if you eat greasy food

I was just sick so maybe thats why i got this damn flare up.

I was in the make up isle the other day trying to decide whether or not to get concealer. I hate wearing makeup.

im sorry, im not too much of a girly girl and i appreciate all the advice.

There might be a chance that you are allergic to the talc or some dye they use in the product if you buy make-up from a drugstore/grocery aisle and this probably gave you a reaction

It's better that you use something that is a powder rather than creams, liquids and powder lasts all day and doesn't get that dewy smeared look.

I am also a big fan of tinted moisturizers, that way I can go sans the powder (I use this at the beach, gym, kickboxing etc...when I know I'm going to sweat or go swimming/surfing make-up is pointless in these cases)

I don't know if this has happened with anyone else - but when I was younger, I was using a face wash that dried my face out too much, which got my skin producing more oils & I would break out. When I switched to a milder cleanser, it stopped being a problem. Once you find a cleanser that works for you - stick with it.

Also - if you find that you rest your head/face in your hands a lot - that tends to cause break outs. Make sure you wash your hands often & try to break the habit, it'll make a difference (assuming that you do have your hands near your face a lot)

Going to go out this weekend and try a different cleanser for my face.

If you use a mask, how often should you use that a week? and does that even help?

Well, I have kinda oily skin but not really. So I use Ivory soap to dry out my skin and then I have some acre crap from biore. It has the exfoliating beady things. I get a zit every now and again. And yes, I use toothpaste on forming zits.

Birth Control!!!
Best thing I have ever ever found for my skin.
Apricot scrub 2x a week = also the shit.

And I know it sounds kind of odd, being as your breaking out, but MOISTURIZE!!! Plus it's just great for your skin anyway. Try a lightweight one, Clean & Clear makes an awesome mattifying one, so no more shinyness!!!

Holy shit! When did I become such a girl!?!?!?! :noway:

Hell yeah that works! (Forgot about that one!)
Dries it up really well, but don't leave it on too too long, cause then it just kinda burns. :nono:

*making notes* All of the advice is great!

i'm on my third type of birth control and out of all of them i have tried, not one of them has done anything to my skin.

Oh man! That sucks! Sorry to hear that.
Birth control does kinda suck for the having to try out like 20 till you find the 'right one' but it's oh so worth it when you do!

Make sure you wash your body AFTER you use conditioner.
And I haven't personally tried it, but I hear that Neutrogena makes a pretty kickin' body wash for that kinda thing.

that works... and makes sense... i always wait till last to rinse out the conditioner, so maybe i should rinse that out first and then do da scrubbin... hmmmm *light over head*

I truly really would not recommend masks the peel-off, heating-thermal polish kind, clay or mud mask..they clog pores and potentially dry out skin they aren't meant for all skin types and contain alot of ingredients that might irritate or cause an allergic reaction.

I do recommend Collagen seaweed/vitamin tonic "spa" cloth masks that you place over your face and massage to help maintain moisture. I do this once a week..my skin is glowing afterwards

yea, most definatly make sure you wash after conditioning. especially if you have long hair. i do my hair first then wash and it takes so long to wash. used to be in and out back in the day but now its like 10 mins. every now and then ill have a small break out in the summer but i used my face wash on my shoulders and it worked. wish it would work on my face like that...lol.

now, is there an easy way to prevent "blackheads"? i know about not touching your face and washing your phone, etc...

careful with the proactive.

i tried it and my face dried out to the point where it was cracking and painful. and i was using the lotion and everything!!

from what i understand proactive is for people with serious skin problems and it's usually to strong for those who are just trying to do away with the occasional breakout.
