I know when I haven't been eating healthy enough, because my stomach starts to feel real gross for days.. And apparently the last two days haven't been good for me, because I just feel generally nauseous. [I didn't eat anything on Sunday, because I got a 24 hour stomach bug, and spent 12 hours puking..fun.]

So can some people throw me some healthy meals and snacks.. puh-lease?

I'm also, for the millionth time, trying to cut out soda in my diet. I think I've figured out a way.. I found a Lipton's Citrus Ice Green Tea that I like, which will help with the caffeine, and I figured if I feel I need something carbonated I can pick up some flavored water from Sam's club.

I've just started working out at the gym the last two weeks and have dropped 4lbs, and would love to keep it up. But I get bored with the same recipes over and over again.. so if someone could give me some fresh ideas, that would be most awesome.

:bounce:

But for lunch I am having organic Southwestern Chicken Soup, and some french bread with hummus. :yummy:

You might wanna compare the nutrition label on that with a soda...chances are since it's pre-bottled by lipton they probably have the same sugar content.

Actually yeah, check this out:

My suggestion would be to make yourself a big vat of iced green tea and sweeten it with honey or splenda. You basically just make a really strong batch of green tea and then pour it down over ice and mix in a little water. It's pretty tasty.

Either that or switch to diet  Just remember that diet soda can increase your appetite to keep that in check.

I cut out soda about 10 years ago, but still drink iced tea. For several years it was like 1~2 Snapple Lemon ice teas a day, but I stopped drinking those so much (maybe 1~2 a week, if that?), and now I usually drink the Honest Tea bottles (honesttea.com), usually 1 a day, if at all.

Honest tea is the bomb. I love that stuff.

Cutting out soda is the best thing you can do for yourself. It eliminates so much sugar from your diet. That stuff is not good for you.

I use raw sugar (not refined) or honey to sweeten things if need be. Refined sugar is the oppressor!

If you need a caffeeine fix, sugar free redbull. only 10 calories per can.

honey & oat nature valley granola bars
soy crisps (i like caramel, ranch, apple cinnamon, & bbq)
celery w/ peanut butter (but watch how much peanut butter you use)
veggies (w/low fat ranch)

also, watch your portions. Not only is it WHAT you eat, but how much. It's okay to enjoy things you love as long as you do it moderately.

My snack today has been a handful of almonds and caffeinated green tea. The only time I drink soda is if my stomach is killing me and I have some Ginger Ale, other than that, a splash of Diet Coke in a mixed drink and I rarely have soda with my liquor.

I eat a lot of veggies and fruit for snacks, as do my kids. I keep cut up and ready to go fruit for us. Plus we have a snack drawer or healthy sugar free snacks. Smooshed Fruit (organic fruit leather), baby carrots dipped in homemade hummous, vegan cream cheese and cucumber tea sandwiches with a dash of dill, plus baked goods (I bake a lot). We also eat peanut butter filled pretzels a lot and plain soy yogurt with granola and fruit. Junk food for us is organic tortilla chips with homemade organic salsa. I make popcorn for us sometimes too (on the stove) and add nuts and dried fruit to it with brown rice syrup for Native Popcorn Balls.

As for meals, you should look into reducing your caffiene and dairy. Dairy can pack on sooo much weight. My husband (who is not vegan or a full veggie, he eats fish) started eating vegan like me a month or so ago and has lost a lot of weight. All that cheese and ice cream was just killing him.

We eat a lot of raw veggies for meals in the summer. Right now our peas are blooming so lots of raw garden peas and salad with radishes. We are eating soooo much salad right now, I just make a different dressing for it.

Last night we had Spicy Peanut and Kale Pasta which sounded weird but tasted great. IT was so healthy and there was no bad fat in it. THe recipe is enough for two people. I made pesto from basil in the garden for the kids with fresh peas tossed in with the pasta.

1 15 oz can of ground tomatoes (I ground up a can with my food processor)
2 cups of chopped kale
2 tbsp of peanut butter
1 tsp of sambal oelek (or other sweet/spicy Asian sauce)

simmer the kale and tomatoes until kale is soft, about 6 minutes. Add peanut butter and sambal oelek, cook another minute or two. Serve over pasta ( I used spinach linguine).

Good luck! I know I feel like crap if I eat conventional or unhealthy food. I hate that feeling.

Wow. Thanks!

I rarely eat dairy. The extent of it is if I make pasta, and do an alfredo sauce or something. And if I make something like black bean and chicken enchiladas, I'll sprinkle cheese on top.

We do not eat red meat. We stick to chicken, fish, and pork. [I was a vegetarian for years, but I have extremely low blood pressure, and not having enough protein just really screws me up.]

But I've been making sure my shopping trips are much healthier.. I go through these periods were I'm just mentally exhausted, and tend to lean towards the easy/unhealthy stuff. But I'm really making sure that's going to change.

Yesterday I got good healthy snacks - hummus, bagel chips, multi-grain chips, etc. I made homemade fried rice for dinner with chicken.

Instead of getting soda, I found some Emporium Green Tea - something with Pomegranite and another with Clemetine. I actually checked the sugar content, and it's 16 grams less as far as sugar is concerned. Got two cases of bottled water too.

So yeah.. making sure to stay on the healthy track.

Now if only my kids would get over their colds so I could get back into the gym. Kiddie watch wont take them if they're even a lil' bit sick.

So yesterday while at the grocery store, I picked up a little cooking booklet called "Easy Organic Cooking." I've been browsing over the recipes this morning, and it looks soooooo yummy!

I just wish we had a store that sold strictly organic stuff. Of course, that's going to change once we move up North.. at least I hope so.

Hummus has lots of oil.

which will typically lower your cholesterol, and will keep you feeling full longer. Just don't overdo the portions.

Unsaturated fats like in olive oil and nuts are typically good for dieters for those reasons.
