I will start using Peapod.com tomorrow to do my grocery shopping, and I cannot wait! However, while I have my breakfast and dinner foods already listed. I need ideas for healthy snacks and lunches.

You know, that "in-between meals" food, I can't seem to come up with plenty of ideas to keep the variety fresh. So if you have a good in between major meals idea that is healthy as well as tasty let me know. I'll add it to my peapod grocery list.

Thanks! :raveon:

Almonds are a great in-between food.

As far as lunches go, I normally make sandwiches and a small salad. I'm also a big fan of leftovers. =]

Yeah actually when I make dinner, I make dinner for two people since it will be my lunch the next day. I guess I need food to snack on in-between meals more so than actual lunch ideas.

That is, unless you have a great lunch idea you want to share that's good. I am all for new recipes.

I know it's healthier to eat a few small meals instead of three big ones, but I find that if you put food into your meals that have a little fat in them, you won't be hungry in between meals. In the morning I try to have a hardboiled egg with my breakfast and avocados, nuts and cheese dispersed through my meals throughout the day. (I don't even like cheese that much, I force myself to eat it because of the fat content and the calcium). The trick is to not go overboard with the fatty foods, just have a little with each meal so it helps you feel satiated until your next meal.

The idea is that if you eat less food more often it speeds up your metabolism, keeps your motor running faster.

Yep, I have 3 major meals and 2 minors each day.

7am - lean turkey with cheese egg whites omelet with weight control oatmeal
10:30am - yoguart, fruit, or beef jerky and peanuts (something to that nature)
12:30pm - lunch, whatever I made for dinner.
2pm-south beach diet bar with 10g protein, more beef jerky or peanuts
6:30pm dinner / dessert

Hummus and pita is my favorite snack. I hear you can also dip veggies in it if you are so inclined.

Also, cheese.

Cuccumbers and hummus is awesome too.

I buy a lot of dried fruit/trail mix since it essentially never goes bad. Corn chips, while not super healthy, are at least made only of corn, salt, and oil. Likewise triscuits are whole wheat and salt for the most part.

Depends on what time of day you put your order in, but you select your delivery time, usually at least one day out. I order over the weekend and get my stuff delivered in the morning on a weekday between 7 and 9.

Definitely eat breakfast in the morning but don't overdue caffeine intake because, it will cause a blood sugar drop and this will make you eat more sugar/starches to feel full.

I am on the go so during the week I grab an apple or banana on my way out or a handful of almonds on the weekend I have an egg beater omlet with peppers and low-fat veggie slices

I also carry alot of those ziploc container the small cup size ones that people use for dip and what not and the double section containers that way I can snack throughout the day but it's healthy stuff
Stuff I put in the containers:
-Roma Tomatoes, Basil and mozzarella with light virgin olive oil
-Sliced Avocado and light virgin olive oil
- Spring greens, pine nuts, craisins and on the small side light raspberry vinagarette
-Snap peas and roasted almonds..no butter just steamed and plain, pinch of salt
- Tuna fish w/o mayo, w/ dill weed, celery seed,, sliced carrot and celery..on the other side banana peppers
-Fresh berries and on the smaller side organic vanilla yogurt
-1 cup whole wheat pasta and olive oil/pepper and oregano or fresh basil
-Pine nuts, roasted almonds, unsalted peanuts or walnuts (small container)
- Peanut butter and apples
-Strawberries, watermelon or cantalope, pineapple or black cherries, grapes or sliced pear (not the concentrated/canned kind)

Instead of sandwich bags I use the small snack bags, I go by portion and this is my treat for the day whether it is 3 coco villa sticks, 7 honey-wheat pretzel sticks, 15 pita chips, 25 gummy bears or a fruit/nut bar or a cliff-bar or 5 trader joe's ginger snap cookies

I have one soda a week, but it's a baby can and I dilute it with water..soda is entirely too sweet
I avoid too many juices, I'd rather have a natural smoothie sans the sugar added
I drink alot of water and green tea w/o sugar..tea in general is my choice, you feel fuller when you drink these two with a meal
I limit my coffee intake to 2-3 cups per week on the days I really need it

Our new favourite is sunflower seed butter. Soooo frickin good. With apples and celery.

Actually I have so much pak choi from the garden we have been eating it like celery too and it is really yummy!

I have been working on a vegan veggie dip with a white bean base but it still needs tweaking. You are welcome to play with it if you want. Just let me know and I will find my notes. Pureed white beans with artichokes and black olives... mmmm Lots of protein and good fats.
