p.s. wtf is bassline house?
Bassline House is also known as "UK SPEED GARAGE". There are now bassline house parties all over the world poppin' up...it has made a BIG come-back in most European countries and starting to really move upwards in the US market as well. THE BIG difference between UK Speed Garage and BASSLINE? the beats per min. -- uk speed garage is usually played at a breakbeat tempo and cut to final that way -- around 135-140 or so bpm. IF you buy BASSLINE HOUSE Track? It will be right at HOUSE tempo...128-130 bmp. Means a bigger HUGE bassline. Stuff that will lift the needles right off the rekkids. :) OH...and it is almost always cut onto vinyl. You won't see any UK guys using CDs for this genre.
Hmmm...it is also known as 4x4 garage.
If that doesn't answer it...& you wanna hear a mix I did for radio, you can go to my MySpace site and click on the link on the page to listen:

I guess I would describe it as a big synthy bassline with a shuffling beat -- not breakbeat, but 4x4. Usually done with RnB or some HIp-hop or oldskool vox -- but not always.
I won't be spinning speedgarage the whole time though...:) I am going to bring a few things to spin in, as when I open early there will be mostly hip-hop crowd there from downstairs...you know...to work up to house, and it is fun to throw on...or maybe I will throw some on late just for fun. We will see.
:) I mostly produce house tracks...and use cds a lot more than vinyl these days...so that will be most of my set. :):onethumb:

listened. sounds like straight/funky techno.
definitely doesn't have the shuffle step feel of 2 step... definitely a four on the floor bump with big garage bass lines and anthem vocals... really fun party stuff as far as I'm concerned...

So if fellow dj's don't even know what "bassline" house is, how is it supposed to be a draw for regular club-goers, the people who pay the overhead? I just mean in terms of promotion/flyer material (e.g., listing "Bassline House"), I'm not talking about what it actually sounds like or what the night is like.
p.s. I am truly just curious. NO attitude or whatever is intended.
I guess the same way that people became familiar with dub step when no one had ever heard of it... :shrug:/:elad:
Bassline House parties have been going on in the UK for years now. It's about time the US caught up, IMO...

bassline house is not the main focus of the promotion. the lounge atmosphere of this three level club is.

"bassline house" is the dumbest name for a genre ever since every single dance song in the world has a bassline. im going to invent a new genre called "hi hat trance". how about "kickdrum techno".

i feel you on that one but nowadays for the EDM savvy, just saying house doesnt describe enough and the tunes can be completely on different spectrums. There are so many sub genres of genres and so on. It sounds to me like a fusion of funky house, slowed dubby techno and slowed speed garage with the nu skool proggy house feel to it... oops now im guilty..

it may not be a name that makes a lot of sense to most anyone, but I'm sure you realize there's a tactical reasoning behind calling what is essentially UK Speed Garage something different. Ostensibly, Garage/2step is generally regarded as the gangsta rap of the UK and in line with this parallel events that feature this genre in the UK are generally filled with thugs, knifings, muggings, and a variety of other equally fun happenings. To separate themselves from this scene, Speed Garage producers/performers in the UK decided to change the name to distance themselves from these issues and avoid confusion.
