Dance while you drink then it won't matter, you'll be burning those calories and reducing risk of a hangover the next day.

Bacardi & Diet Cola, like the commerical says.
Vanilla vodka & diet cola.
Vodka and sugar free redbull, only has a couple calories I think.

I like Bacardi Lemon and Club soda with a lemon and lime.

Not all liquor is calorie free. Rum has sugar.

zero calorie liqours only count the sugars and the like...alcohol still has a caloric content.

for me, it's guinness...120 calories PER PINT and a whole slew of vitamins, protein(8grams per pint) and simple carbs. It's why it fills you up faster than light beers...i can drink like 20 light beers, but 6+ guinness is pushing it.

Ok, there's 4 places to get calories:

Fat
Carbohydrates
Protein
Alcohol

Just because a certain alcoholic beverage doesnt have sugar, does not mean it does not have any calories.

There was a thread about it on bodybuilding.com - the consensus was that liquor (straight up) was probably the best way to go, because you would probably end up consuming less. I love me some guiness though, so I can't disagree with ya!

i mean calories burn, and so do hydrocarbons, but i thought calories came from burning sugars.

in retrospect however calories are calculated by lost weight of the substance after oxidation.
so i guess calories applies.

Yeah, that is absolutely true. We'd all be much healthier if we just ate good, un-saturated with sodium, no presevatives, no aspertamiabrotidiumasteyanate whatever sweetners, etc.. and did what would as a whole make us feel better: Eat right and exercise.

But, realisitically if someone wants to cut something out of part of their drinking diet, and isn't going to turn into a "health nut", I think that's better than doing nothing. You're going to get calories either way, and it's going to slow your metabolism, so removing some of the carbs isn't a bad idea.

Any dry beer is a good bet. If you like Guiness, go that route. But anything that isn't too "malty" will be low calorie, such as a dry stout.

For instance, Guiness has 126 calories (for a 12oz bottle), compared to Miller High Life which has 143 calories. High Life is a sweet beer (more sugar), and will thus be higher in calories. Guiness and High Life have the same alcohol content. You're less likely to drink several bottles (or pub draft cans) of Guiness too, unlike High Life. "Light" beers, which almost uniformly suck, usually come in around 110 calories, but they often have less alcohol. Reducing calories is often accomplished by reducing alcohol instead of reducing sugar, as reducing sugars in the beer will make it unbalanced in flavor.

So in addition to Guiness, other dry Irish stouts should be low alcohol, as are other dark beers that aren't too sweet. Also IPAs that are hoppy but not extremely alcoholic would be a good bet.

Of course the real solution is to not worry about it and just do sit-ups on alternate days that you drink. =)

Tequila would be a good bet too. A high-quality tequila such as Don Julio or Cabo Wabo Anejo has about 65 calories per 1 oz shot. At 40% alcohol, that would be equivalent to drinking a 3.3% ABV beer. So for tequila, you get more alcohol per calorie than even low-calorie beers.

So sip fine tequila.

What's this "sip" you speak of?

sipping can be done quickly or slowly. the point of a sip is to extract as much flavor as possible from the liquid. with good tequila (or whisky or wine) this is a necessity.

Go for quality over quantity. All alcoholic beverages have calories, so choose a beer or liquor that makes you feel good, and make it worth it. You can easily balance a night of solid partying by putting in extra gym time and shaving excess calories off of the surrounding days. Speaking of food, if you eat less the day you're drinking, it should take less alcohol to get you to your...destination, or what have you.
