So I know this isn't only Chick Shit but I figured since it spun out of a Chick Shit Thread, why not
Are you a plant person? I need some advice if so.
I totally missed this. My mom is a plant person, she helps me out with everything. I try and absorb as much as I can.
I can't wait for my patio garden, I went plant shopping with my mom last weekend. The line up so far is:
Strawberries, tobasco peppers, tomatoes, oregano, basil, chives, lilies and a beautiful creeping flower that I can't remember the name of right now. I'm going to my mom's place to plant them this weekend.
Does anyone else garden during the warmer months?

Not when I had them at my parents' house. I honestly think the pots were overfilled last year and that we didn't pick good things to put out on the patio. If you remember, the first planter died because of too much direct sun, well that won't happen this year. And the last of my plants died in the fall when I gave up on them

Ahh, no I don't recall that. Thanks for refreshing my memory though.
I've got 3 pots out there which are blooming wonderfully at the moment - I love sitting out on the balcony after work

I need to know some good out door plants that are good for low sunlight. I'd like to get some stuff started on the patio, but we barely get any sun.

Shit and your plants were still bright green in fucking November. My hats off to you. What's your secret?

Do you want plants that you can use or plants that just look pretty?

I've got a few small rose bushes that I'm taking care of until I move. Then I plant them in my mother's garden
I've also got some purple aster and black-eyed susans that aren't in-bloom yet.

I don't do flowers (although I am trying this year) but I do have a kick ass herb garden (mostly perenial), a nice shade/rock garden started with the kids AND a HUGE vegetable garden where we are growing enough food for two families.
It's soo much work, I am doing yard work every single day either in my yard or the garden.
I am growing lettuce, spinach, baby spinach, mesclun salad mixes, seven different types of salad, carrots, corn, peas, cucumbers, squash, peppers, tomatoes, beans, lots of greens (mustard, tatsoi, pac choy, swiss chard, kale) and brassicas (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussel sprouts). Oh onions and potatoes too.
I am hoping to tackle the flower bed running alongside the house and sidewalk but it might not happen this year.

Fascinating! (re: the topic and responses in general)
I think I'd have the best luck with a cactus. Except that I'm a horrid klutz and would likely hurt myself over and over.
Okay, but in all seriousness, the only things I've ever had a real interest in are bonsai and roses. Eventually I'll do the plant thing, just hasn't been a priority.
