I've decided to make my FitDay.com journal public. If anyone else is using that website, and would like to post their URL, do it here.

Well it's been almost a week, and I feel great. My weight has fluctuated a lot (within 5lbs) but as of right now I'm still pretty close to where I started. I won't get discouraged though, because I know the evil that is the scale. I will keep pushing on, because I know that I am eating much healthier, getting my metabolic rate up, etc. Forward!!!

I had one splurge which probably set me back a little... my caloric intake for the day was normal, but one meal was well over my range. I thought I had planned far enough ahead to make a hike up Old Rag mountain over the weekend, but I ended up being one meal short, so we stopped somewhere to eat. I ordered something healthy, but later found out it had far too many calories. I made up for it later in the day, but it still wasn't an ideal circumstance.

Also, I'm contemplating an EC stack to get things jump started.

Checking in, down 10 lbs from where I started, down 15 lbs from my average weight. I'm actually finding this easy, which I think is good because I expect some hard work when I plateau -- which is inevitable. For now, it's fun to sit back, eat right, exercise and bask in the results. It takes lots of patience, the first week I didn't get much in terms of results and I can see how a lot of people would get discouraged and give up. I miss drinking beer, but last weekend when I splurged and drank beer (it was a mini vacation) I found myself not really missing it. The negative effects of this program are that I'm smoking more than usual, to make up for not drinking... but I've quit that before so I'm not too worried about it. I'm in 3 weddings this year and I've already been fitted for a few, I think I'll have to go back a month before the ceremony to get refitted... lol.

Need to be better about writting down my stuff in that instead of the notebook I keep in my purse. Will share next week.

Cool, my only suggestion would be that I wouldn't really include the day-to-day activities such as walking around the office, because that should have been calculated when you set your average daily activity based on your lifestyle, which is then factored into your basal metabolic rate.

Personally, I only add activities that go above and beyond the typical daily stuff.

ya the long walk was out of the norm... which is why i put it that day, the other day was just to see what it did :D

Regardless, it shouldn't matter unless you change your diet based on your activity, but if you aim for the same caloric intake everyday, it shouldn't matter. ;-)

This is the only progress pic that I can post that I'm not too embarassed to post... maybe in a few weeks (or months) I'll actually be fit enough to consider the front side... lol.

Just an update that I'm very close to halfway to my goal. So far, I find the amount of effort required to do it is not so bad... I feel like crap whenever I go off my diet, so it's preferrable to remain focused on it, and I feel like crap whenever I consume alcohol, to the point where I don't miss it so much. All it takes is patience, willpower, and sticking to your routine (getting to the gym, eating right, counting calories, sticking to your # of meals per day). It took a lot of adjustment at first, but now it's hard to stray from it.

Still right about halfway, I lost another 2lbs, but I definitely hit a plateau the last few weeks. That was expected though with all of the vacations and splurges that accompanied them. Ocean City twice, and Vegas = Lots of Beer.

I'm officially down 20lbs though, and I feel great. 20 more and I will have reached my first goal. From there, I may go on a bulk and try to get huge ;-).

Fuck yeah. I haven't even started researching it yet, but I'm assuming the idea is to eat "clean" and massive amounts of calories, with lots of exercise. I have a couple of buddies that use the gear but I don't think I'm going to go that route ;-)

Also, I've upped my protein intake a lot. Before I was getting about 200-250 grams per day, now I'm getting 300-360 grams per day. I switched up how I make my shakes, before it was two scoops of shake mix, and 8oz of milk. Now it's 3 scoops and 8 oz of water. Took a little getting used to, but now I can drink them fine, each shake has 360cal and 72g of protein. Niiiice.

Nah, gear I think is justified when you've spent a solid 3-4+ years training at 110%, you know how to diet right, you've put in your work, and you're at a point where you may want to compete (for example, you've gotten a squat/bench/dead total up to around 550/330/600, and that might be lowballing it, or that you've gotten your physique to a point where a natural BBing show could be feasible), in whatever kind of a competition that may be. Gear is totally safe when done right and as long as you know how it works and how to properly PCT it. But it really should be the kind of thing to jump on when every other method has been worked at for years and years and you know you're a dedicated person.

On the subject of bulking, I can't find the link right now (need to hop on the train in a few) but Christian Thibadeau has a great article on t-nation.com about clean bulking, where it's not about pounding down a fuckload of food for a few months, putting on 30-40lbs and some padding and then shaving 20lbs off of that to be lean, but instead how to slowly and steadily add LBM while keeping a low BF%. Pretty cool read

Cool - I'll have to look for that in a few months when I'm ready... ;-)
