I'm starting out with just the posts from the girlie shiat thread, but will eventually add in the links to other threads that have been started over time with wedding info - questions, suggestions, etc...

Unless there someone wants me to pull every post dealing with weddings - I'm going to stick to the more substantive ones (ie - unless there is real content, I'm going to ignore it).

Starting out with some general categories, hopefully it will make it easier...

Dresses:
Is it time for makeovers yet???

In other news, my wedding dress has arrived!!! :eee:

I took a look at it and it actually looks a little too big now since I've lost some weight (thanks stress!). But we know a really good tailor who can take care of it.

And just for future reference, if any of yallz get married down the road, I wouldn't recommend David's Bridal to anyone. I got my dress there, and it's very nice, but their service sucks. And I mean sucks. You have been warned. :)

I'm also about 95+% set on this dress, going to take my mom & the women in Chris' life with me this weekend to look at it:

Rest of the train cause it's so damn long:

(Yes - that's me wearing the dress, which is about 4 sizes too big, in the pictures - the dress was either clipped or held by the woman when we took pictures)

Venues:
What places are you looking at?

My reception was at Top of the Town in Arlington. It was great.#1 choice = The Mayflower Hotel (http://marriott.com/hotels/event-planning/wedding-planning/wassh-renaissance-mayflower-hotel/)
#2 choice = The Army-Navy Club (http://www.armynavyclub.org/)

Neither have really good pics of the rooms we're looking at thought :sadpanda:

We're pretty much set on the Mayflower - it's just a matter of signing a contract with them, but if for some odd reason it's not going to work out there, we'll probably go to the Army-Navy Club.

Mayflower pictures: http://marriott.com/hotels/hotel-photos.mi?marshaCode=wassh&pageID=HWFPC

We'd have the ceremony in the Chinese room, cocktails in the Cabinet room and the reception in the State Room

Bridesmaids Dresses:
I'll try to find a pic, but for now I can describe [my bridesmaids dresses].

They're black, tea-length, scoop neck, capped sleeve, and they have some sparkly on them. They're super cute.

I was going to order them in red, but I wasn't sure if they'd match the exact shade of red that the sash around my waist and the color of the vests/ties for the groomsmen will be. So I went the safe route and ordered black. Their bouquets will be red, and I'm going to see if I can find jewelry with touches of red for them. They'll match the groomsmen well, since their jacket/pance will be black.

The good thing about ordering black dresses (imo) is that they can definitely wear them again if they want. I'm a good bride, hehe.

I think I did a good job in picking them out. I wanted something not super-duper formal (so they could wear them again), but at the same time be something that would be appropriate to wear to a nice party or a night out on the town.

And I wanted them to be not hideous. I've heard of some people getting super ugly dresses so that the bridesmaids don't one-up the bride, but that's silly. It IS my (and James') day, so they'll be focusing on us. I want everyone to look nice.

And wearing an ugly dress imo wouldn't be good for pictures. :D

I've heard that too. My dresses were very formal, but everyone wanted to keep theirs. Unfortunatly they didn't pay for them, so I said no. lol. I've been reselling them. Those sound nice. :)

I picked sage green for my wedding color, and somehow my mom snuck baby pink in there as the secondary color. I'm not sure how that happend...

I paid for my bridesmaid's dresses too. I got a really good deal on them though, so I'm definitely letting them keep them. I guess it's my way of saying thanks for being in my wedding. :)

Our colors are red and white, but I was unsure if the red dresses would match my sash and red accent pieces, along with the groom/groomsmen's vests and ties. I got my dress/accessories at David's Bridal, and the mens are getting their tuxes from After Hours, so the reds will match identically. I got my bridesmaid dresses from another company, none of the stuff they had at David's really appealed to me that much for some reason. The chickies will have red flowers and stuff though.

I think it will look quite nice in pictures and stuff.

Here they are, I got them in black:

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o221/LizCoul/bridesmaidsdresses.jpg

I wish I coulda found a larger pic, but oh well.

I like them. They're simple, but they have a touch of fanciness with the sparklies. And our wedding is during the afternoon, so I think I can get away with not having super duper uber formal dresses. And I'll be sure to post pics once the wedding's actually happened, so you can get an even better idea of what they look like.

I think the photo is kinda cheesey though, with the way they posed the models and whatnot, haha. :D

Bridesmaids Gifts:
I got my bridesmaids silver dangle earrings and each a different piece of customzed jewelry from Blue Nile. 1 locket, 1 white gold 18k band (maid of honor, I have the same ring), 1 heart pendant, and a heart tag bracelet. All engraved.

Most of the wedding parties I have been in have given me jewlery. The guys always get the good shit, so when I was in Mary's wedding I talked her into getting me a flask like the groomsmen, instead of another charm bracelet or whatever. I rarely wear the jewlery I got at the other weddings but I use that flask all the time. :D

Kristen/Breaks P gave all of her bridesmaid's Louis Vuitton change purses. I shed a tear. It was my very first piece of "designer" anything.

I need to buy gifts for my wedding attendants. I have 3 of them.

Any suggestions? Married wimmins? Former bridesmaids? Bueller?

Last wedding I was in, the bride gave us all necklaces & earrings so we would match.

I was thinking about treating my bridesmaids to mani/pedi & getting their makeup done at a top notch salon the day of the wedding - is that cheating? Cause then they don't really get a "gift" exactly - just to save money & still get spoiled while getting ready...

Let me know what you end up doing - I'm gonna have to figure that out eventually....

It depends on the girls. I have a bunch of jewlery and charm bracelets that I got, which I never use because I am not a jewlery girl. The best bridesmaid gift I got was a flask, given to me by the lovely Mary Anarchy.

I was thinking of something along the lines of that. Prolly a charm bracelet or a necklace or something. I also bought their dresses, but I don't wanna be like "well, I bought your dress, thanks!" That just seems...I dunno. I'm just trying to be nice I guess

I've seen a lot of cute stuff on bluenile.com. I'm going to look that their stuff more when I get home today.

I'm getting my hair/makeup professionally done, and I'm letting them do what they want with their hair/makeup. My bridesmaids have good taste and I trust they won't show up looking like they just stepped out of a trailer park, haha.

I'm just trying to find something that they can enjoy for more than just the wedding day, ya know?

I got all my bridesmaids jewelry. They all had matching earrings. My maid of honor had a matching white gold band to the one I wore on my right hand. 1 bridesmaid had a locket with her initials engraved into it, one had a mini hollow heart tag style necklace, and one had a bracelet.

Did you go to the one inn Rockville?

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding last year, had to get my dress from David's Bridal - had a size 4 fit me PERFECTLY (the dress looked like it was handmade for me) off the shelf and the woman tried to make me by a 6 and have it altered back down because "You don't know how much weight you're going to gain before the wedding" (which was less than 4 months away)

I've heard nothing but horror stories about David's Bridal

Yup. That's the one. And now they're trying to get me to do my dress alterations there. HA. Not going to happen. We've got a tailor who's way more experience and more affordable.

I love my dress and all, but seriously. Fuck them. I regret going there in the first place.

Tip for Open Bar:

Buy the alcohol yourself, don't have a company bring it for you. You can return it if you pre-arrange as such from an ABC store. We did that, and it saved us a lot of money.

They both loved it. I also tried on another one (first salon claimed to have the dress, which would've saved us a trip to Hagerstown, but they fibbed - I tried on some there & then we RAN up to the original store, getting there 3 minutes before they closed):

It's much simpler, but the accenting on the waist is SO flattering.

I think this is a really pretty dress.

My favorite celebrity dress that I've seen recently is Christina Aguilera's dress, but I'm sucking at finding a pic right now.

Some of the places we've talked to won't let us do this. Or if they will, we would have to pay for the day liquor license ourselves - it's not expensive, but it's an additional cost people should keep in mind...

I liked it too - it looked REALLY good on me. But it's MUCH simpler than the other dress I love (see way above). I can just see myself walking down the aisle on my dad's arm, back on Chris' & dancing with Chris, etc in the first dress - I put it on & could visualize the whole wedding. The second one, not as much.

I'm sure that the experience also had something to do with it - when I put the top one on, I was the only bride in the salon, had lots of personalized attention, wasn't rushed, had lots of mirrors to see every angle, etc. At the second place, there were 2 or 3 other brides all sharing 1 set of mirrors, the shop also carried prom dresses & was being over run by high schoolers looking for dresses/tuxs for prom, the woman who was helping me was helping a couple of other people as well. And the lighting was just overhead fluorescent lights - the other salon had more appropriate lighting (can't remember exactly what it was - but it more closely resembled the lighting where our ceremony will be)

I plan to try them both on again (hopefully at the same store :cross:) before buying one.

as for other things wedding related....right now we are working on getting out our save the dates, and i would love to get y'alls thoughts on those.

personally i didn't even know about those until i got one for my sister's wedding. on the plus side i feel like sending them out will allow us to wait a little longer before worrying about the invitations. and of course they will benefit the few people that are actually travelling. (plus since our wedding is on a friday we can let people know that they might have to take off work, although i doubt many people will actually request the day until much later...like when the invitations go out.)

on the negative side they will add to our rising costs. and i worry about the guest list possibly changing.....since our guest list is like 75% friends, there isn't that obligation like with family. who knows who we will be hanging out with in october!

so yeah.....i would love anyones personal opinion on this, because i am not getting anywhere. lol.

Jessi - you're having a rock star wedding aren't you?

lol......yes and no i guess.

no, because my wedding is going to be pretty low key. we are having the ceremony outside at brookside gardens. so there won't be alot of decorating or fanciness....just outdoorsy gardens. we probably won't even have lots of chairs set up and what not because we only rented the space for about an hour. and the reception is pretty low-key too....we rented out a small room + the bar at hotel topaz. so there won't be much decorating or fanciness there either because it's already done up really nice.

yes, because we both have small families and therefore we have zero need to cater to anyone but ourselves. so we are getting married by cam-1. and we are having jesse tittsworth do all of our own music. (downtempo/ industrial/ underground hiphop and old skool hiphop.) and we DID get our cake from the ace of cakes guy which is pretty rockstar. plus we will have all of the usual suspects that we hang around with, being thier usual crazy selves. (which might be less rockstar and more nut-job....we will see.)

either way i can't freakin wait!!! :jessi::jessi::jessi:

I don't think it's in the plan for us to send them out either (unless, like you, we end up getting married on a Friday night) - I plan to let most of the people who will have to travel know personally (phone, email - whatever) just as a heads up.

If you're worried about cost & the invite list isn't *too* big to do this relatively easy, you might want to consider doing the same thing. I mean, honestly, once we have a date - I'm probably going to tell most of my friends/family the date & place out of excitement - they can write it down or not & then we'll send out the invites for the "official" notice.

I'm about to do some save the date cards myself. I've done some internet research and the hot thing to do is magnet save the date cards. Since I'm doing it DIY, I have found people on the internet and my coworker has also done it DIY.

I'll use my graphic design stuff to make the card and magnet designs.
The parts you need are as follows:
business card magnet Avery sheets from Office Depot of something
Cards to hold the magnet come from Michaels.

The magnet would have a design with the names of the bride and groom, a request to save the date, the actual date so it stands out (some put a pic of a calendar with the date in bold), list the city, and note that formal invitations are to follow.

If you're doing a big shing dig, then you might not want to DIY.

You usually send Save the date cards 4-6 months in advance of the wedding and the invites go out 2 months in advance.

but perhaps i will snag that graphic anyways and find another use for it....:ponder:

Definitly send out Save the Dates. Weddings, even on off nights, book up during the summer, and if you want people at yours, let them know first. You can do them cheap yourself, there's no need for there to even be any graphics.

I'm going to my stylist on 5/19 and I'm gonna ask her about doing the burgundy extensions, like what the best way to do it would be.

Jessi- I LOVE your dress. LOVE IT. Did you get the bridesmaid dresses from David's? We(I'm a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding next week) tried those on and it was one of my faves but they only came in black or pink at the Sprinfield location :( We went with these in Peridot..

I think this is a really pretty dress.

My favorite celebrity dress that I've seen recently is Christina Aguilera's dress, but I'm sucking at finding a pic right now.

Did you see the ring too?

And Matti and I are planning on doing the flier idea too, for our invites.

My husband and I were married in Northern VA Nov 26, 2005. I moved here from Canada and had ordered my dress before I came down, I chose one that laced up the back instead of buttons or a zipper so it could be fitted better since my mom was bringing it with her.
I let my mom and sis (Matron and Maid of Honor) choose their own dresses, my mom made my sisters. I found a gorgeous dress for my daughter, and spent 3 hours taking the tulle apart and pulling burgundy rose petals out to replace them with red ones, and i made her a red satin sash for it. We also made her a wreath for her hair. Our colors were red and gold, my dress was light gold with red satin laces up the back and a red satin panel in front. My moms dress was gold crepe, my sisters red satin, and my daughters white tulle with red petals and a red satin sash. The guys wore black Tuxxes with Gold vests and ties. My sons had Black tuxxes with black vests and bowties.

We sent out save the date cards, printed on plain white card stock with double hearts on it. Then we printed our own invitations on embossed card stock with gold entwined heards on it. We bought all the card stock at A.C. Moore. We just got a save the date magnet from a friend and its sooo pretty, i thought it was a great idea!

I decorated our wine glasses, and cake serving set myself (Glue guns and silk flowers FTW!). My mom, sis and I did the set up at the reception hall. We spoke to someone at walmart for the wedding cake, as we couldnt find a baker who was able to do our order within 30 days of the wedding. The cake was beautiful. We were really suprised. The flowers were done by The Flower Gallery in Manassas (Absolutely gorgeous!! Great service!), and we donated the alter arrangements to the hospital after the wedding. Other than that we used red and gold balloons and streamers to decorate the rest of the space.

I would NOT recommend using "The Pros" for DJ service. Everything up to the wedding was fine, the customer service was ok. Then the night of the wedding, the DJ was 2.5 hrs late, we had no dinner music, the dance started late, he didnt have 1/2 of the music we had requested and wouldnt play anything people could / would dance to. The volume was way too loud for the venue. Everyone left early and we told him to shut it down 2 hrs earlier than we had paid for. We expressed our concerns to the company and got no where. After 6 months of harassing them we gave up. We were really upset.

We gave the girls all matching jewelry (they are jewelry people) and the guys... hmm ok my husband cant remember what we gave them doh! lol.

I love the pics of the dresses you guys have posted, and I love the idea of burgundy hair extensions. That will be soooo pretty!

I'm curious as to what you guys are thinking of for cakes. I was facinated with all the cake options when we started looking. However, we didn't want to spend money on one, so I had a friend make it.

Ours was chocolate strawberry shortcake on the bottom layer, dark german chocolate in the middle layer, and white chocolate raspberry on the top. The entire thing was sage green with white lace, and had cascading pink and white flowers coming down one side. (Real flowers.)

Yeah, I def am not feeling the slip thing at the afterparty. The train on the long dress is ok, but I don't really like any train that much. Maybe i'm too practical-minded when it comes to these things, but think of how dirty the train must get! ew. and I wouldn't like the feeling of having to drag all that cotton/whatever around behind me.

the front of her long formal dress is gorgeous. if there are pics of that on the internet, they've been well hidden!

I'm curious as to what you guys are thinking of for cakes.

james and i went with duff from "ace of cakes".

not only was he a super-awesome dude, but he also took our original idea and made it ten times better!! i would love to share some of the details but james and i swore that we wouldn't discuss it with anyone, since we both think that it will be the highlight of the night. all i will tell you is that we definitely went with "fun" over "fancy".

as for the cake itself, we had to make it vegan so that everyone could eat it. since there are going to be 2 main parts to it we each picked a flavor. he went with carrot and i went with vannilla. (both were SO good.)

oh man...i am getting so hungry just thinking about it!!

I took my wedding dress to a regular tailor, whom I trust much more than the people at David's.

When is your sister's wedding? If you can wait a couple weeks to get your dress back I would STRONGLY recommend Dandy Custom Tailor in Lakeforest mall. Yeah, I know, it's Lakeforest mall. But the little chinese man who does the alterations is freaking awesome. He makes suits from scratch, and he took in a LOT of my dad's suits after he lost a ton of weight. And that's where I took my dress too.

Good luck to yas.

Thanks Laura!

That's probably a really crappy one - but I was busy & couldn't look too hard. Almost all bridal shops carry them, and most lingerie places should as well. Every place I've tried on dresses so far has given me one to use since I always "forget" to bring a strapless bra with me (I don't have a good low back one yet and don't want to bother with a regular one when I can just use one of theirs)

Jill's right - they're pretty damn uncomfortable, and hard to breath in - but they hold your tummy in, boobs up & allow you to show off your back...

I can't wait to buy a wedding dress.

I know I want the neckline to be just off the shoulder (like the disney sleeping beauty dress, except without long sleeves and not as exaggerated/pointy) and the A-line skirt with a semi-long train.

http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/MCG/PFD1617~Sleeping-Beauty-Disney-Posters.jpg

and I want it to have some sort of blue in it. be it the embroidery, or some sort of sash that goes long in the back with the train, or maybe even the whole train being blue somehow. I think either dark blue or more of a peri winkle blue. I can't decide.

I have a feeling though, since I have such a specific type of dress I want, I'm gonna have a hard time finding "the one". :sadblue:

my mom has a cousin who makes wedding dresses, but she lives in NC, so I would have to go down there a ton of times.

I figure, when my time comes, I will look around a bit and maybe go try on some stuff at some stores, but I have a feeling that in the end I'm going to have to get it custom made.

I guess, with the trying things on before hand, it will give me some more specific ideas of things like material and possible embroidery when I go to draw the dress for the dress maker.

I'm not very uber girly, but my dress sort of is. And I like it. The bodice is beaded, and the skirt is ruffly and made of organza. When it was delivered the train was longer than I remembered, but I didn't mind. I have a super long red sash that I'll be tying around my waist, as our colors are red/white/black. I should get it back from the tailor this week! :eee:

It's easier than you think. I've seen dresses with exactly the things you've mentioned.

at the boutique I went to my mom said "she wants it to split in the front, split in the back, have embroidery that comes up in a v in the front, and wrap a symmetrical across the waist but not too obviously".

They found the dress with in 3 minutes.

I really like the Jasmine Collection, btw.

They came out this year - http://www.disneybridal.com/

I can't wait to buy a wedding dress.

I know I want the neckline to be just off the shoulder (like the disney sleeping beauty dress, except without long sleeves and not as exaggerated/pointy) and the A-line skirt with a semi-long train.

http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/MCG/PFD1617%7ESleeping-Beauty-Disney-Posters.jpg

and I want it to have some sort of blue in it. be it the embroidery, or some sort of sash that goes long in the back with the train, or maybe even the whole train being blue somehow. I think either dark blue or more of a peri winkle blue. I can't decide.

I have a feeling though, since I have such a specific type of dress I want, I'm gonna have a hard time finding "the one". :sadblue:

tailor i am using -

Hamza Simrick.
He operates an excellent alterations business out of his design shop. He knows his stuff having worked on Savile Row and for Burberry (the real one!). He's located in Arlington at 574 South 23rd Street.

Amanda, I also vote for #3 of the first post.

this thread is making me crazy with wishful thinking about the dress.

I drew a picture of my future dress today in my statistics class. it's a pretty good drawing (I can draw clothes pretty well, but nothing else, I don't know why). So, until I can find a dress that is almost identical and only needing a few changes, I am going to have to have it made from scratch. Any dress browsing I will do is just for additional ideas and figuring out the exact fabric I want.

Also, since whenever I get married I want it to be in the winter time, I am also going to have a hooded cape type thing, with faux fur around the edges and the same blue embroidery around the shoulder area as on my dress.

something similar to this, but floor length and a bigger hood (sort of like the old lord of the rings elf capes had):

I actually don't want a corset dress, as much as I love corsets. I want my hair to be half down and really long with big curls down my back, so I don't want the back of the dress to require any attention.

anyway, I found a bunch of dresses that match my ideal except for the neckline and the color of the embroidery. It might be the best thing if I could someday just get the whole dress and just have to change those specific things.

Is it weird to not be into a wedding gown as much as you girls seem to be? I just want something that looks good and doesn't cost nearly as much as most wedding gowns cost. In fact, I think I'm looking for dresses that are specifically not wedding gowns for the price factor. You add "wedding" to anything and the price gets jacked up like crazy. I know a few people that have either used white brides maids dresses or other dresses that were white.

Now you'll get to deal with all the other stuff. Weeeeeeeeeeeee.

Can you tell I just want all this planning junx to be over with? James and I got our marriage license yesterday, and I jokingly told him we should just pay an extra $25 to get married right there on the spot. We're both so ready for all this to be done with. :D

congrats!!

that was the biggest cause of stress for me....'cause we actually had stuff planned for the date that we wanted, but didn't have a venue!!

and congrats on getting the place that you wanted. thats awesome. :)

Thanks! :D

Yeah - since neither of us felt strongly about a date, it made finding the place much easier & less stressful.

The nice thing about the Mayflower - they're taking care of the food & drinks, we can elect to have them do the cake instead of the dessert that's included in the package, they have an inhouse florist (if we use her, she'll try to incorperate our wedding theme into the flowers in the lobby for that week - not sure what her pricing is though, so don't know if we'll actually use her - but it's an option) - so while we'll have to make decisions on all those things, it will be/can be simpler than having to coordinate with different people.

all you fancy "i got a date" ladies need to pick me a date!

i originally wanted March 15th, it is the Sat before Easter. But it was fucking freezing that day. So i decided I wanted the first weekend of April. That weekend it snowed. I considered 4/20, but nah. So now I dont know. One option is June 14th. It is the day after my bday. June 13th is a Friday next year. I was thinking it would be cool to have all my family there for my bday too. It would also add some credibility to the "birthday month" thing I always try to pull off. Plus I can guarentee that for the rest of my life, i WILL get an anniversary and a bday present. No combining.

Yeah - it was hard figuring out a date... I wanted a spring/summer wedding, but Chris & I don't really have any "important" dates in either of those seasons - so I was going to settle for picking a random date (which I felt "meh" about doing) - then I realized that our 2.5 year anniversary will be on a Friday in May next year, which covered my seasonal preference & also provided a reason for picking that date as opposed to any other.

If you're looking for an '08 date - 06/07/08 (June 7th) is a Saturday  (The minimum food/drink gurantee for the Mayflower is $5,000 + 30% tax/tip cheaper if you go with a Friday or a Sunday vs. Saturday - which is why we're going with a Friday - it brings the ultimate total down from $30,000+ to ~$24,000 for the food, drinks & location)

i am kinda building my own venue. (more on that later, perhaps)

its either going to be awesome or super awesome. we'll see. (i am full of hope)

it does mean, i can pick whatever date i want.

(ps - i finally narrowed by photographer choices to 2 - http://www.greggibson.com/weddings/portfolio/portfolio1.html or http://www.michellefrankfurter.com/)

june 14th sounds like it would be good for you.

the only thing that i would worry about though is the heat. you are planning an outdoor wedding, correct?? with all of this crazy weather we have been having i would be worried about it being to humid. not only would that be uncomfortable but it would also screw with things like make-up and whatnot.

kinda outdoors. it could be ACed and it will be at sunset and into the night.

i am really scared about the heat. the only reason i was thinking june vs may is that it would be easier for people traveling with kids if the wedding is during summer vacation.

a big part of me wants a winter wedding though, but then i would need to make a lot of changes. perhaps fall is best.

the other thing i am trying to work out is the Puerto Rico part. There is no way in hell i am even going to Puerto Rico unless is it Dec or Jan. The island is fucking hot. So i was concidering a Nov wedding here and Dec in Puerto Rico. But that is so far away!

One bridal show I was at, someone (think it was Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa) was doing samples with airbrushed make up - I believe they said it was waterproof & possibly even sweatproof? I don't remember - anyone who knows more about it, feel free to correct me.

Don't put your birthday and anniversary together. You'll start getting combined presents from people.

although how many people give gifts for anniversaries any more any ways?

I think just your spouse - although I know some people who give their parents an anniversary gift. But if it's a mile stone anniversary (50 years) & you're having a party, people usually give you stuff.

I thought about getting married 3 days after my birthday since Chris' birthday is 3 days before Valentine's day & putting him in the same position I'm in trying to come up with 2 gifts

my wedding is 9 days before my birthday.

but this is awesome because (like amanda said) this will just help the logevity of the celebration....especially since halloween is right in the middle.

If you don't know if it's good or bad, does it matter? (Or are you trying to please relatives?)

As for putting together a wedding for this fall - as long as you can find vendors for the day you want, you can definately pull it together - my friend planned hers in under 4 months & from your posts in this thread, it sounds like you're further along with planning than she was 4 months out.

I know that if I were to try and get married during Lent, I'd be told to hold off till after the season has passed.

I don't think it matters for people who aren't too closely tied to a particular church and religion. What about the rest of the family though?

I think the biggest reason it takes most people about a year to plan is because of having to reserve reception locations so far in advance.

Since you are in control of your reception location availability, I think it's definitely possible to do it in 6 months.

the men-part of the equation said no. the groom as well as my bride's-man.

they say if i want it to be "not hot" to go back to doing it in March or April.

blah. dates suck. the one other advantage of doing it in June and having a big back yard would be that I can grow a lot of my own flowers.
