BAILEY [ 1XTRA | Metalheadz ] - UK

Over the past few years Bailey has gone from strength to strength which was confirmed when he was picked by BBC 1Xtra to be part of their starting line-up with his own show every Sunday night from 10pm-12am for which after only being on air one year he was awarded ‘Best Radio Show’ at the prestigious Knowledge Magazine Awards (2003). Other achievements include a whole host of mix compilations for the likes of Ministry Of Sound, Black Label (France), BreakBeat Science (USA) and Knowledge Magazine. Although first and foremost a DJ: It’s also important to note Bailey’s capacity as a producer, which has seen him commissioned to do remixes for the likes of Roni Size & A Guy Called Gerald whilst gaining interest from Metalheadz: label boss Goldie in particular; with whom he has a release scheduled for the early part of 2006. Bailey has also set up his very own imprint: Intasound for the most part due to all the quality music that he’s sent to play on his BBC 1Xtra show.

Since signing to Hospital in 2003 Nu:Tone has come through the ranks to become one of the most highly respected producers in the scene, with everyone from LTJ Bukem to Dillinja busting his tunes. Nu:Tone’s remix’s are always guaranteed to please – whether it’s the retro soul of his Spreadlove anthem or the junglist wobble of his Strictly Social Re-rub.

His debut album “BRAVE NU WORLD” dropped in 2005 with all of the Drum & Bass' hierarchy supporting it. DJs Norman Jay M.B.E and Tom Middleton also made Nu:Tone a favourite of their eclectic sets. Off the back of this success Nu:Tone has taken his DJing all over the world spreading hospital love from the USA to Asia to Australia. Somehow he has also found the time to remix Alice Russell, Quantic and produce a track for Jenna G.

The mc was cool for like the first 40mins or so.. then when nutone got on the decks he should of stopped.. he foccin sounded like dj clue throughout his entire set.. it was straight up annoying... "hey hey", "dj dj dj".. for the love of god let the man play his music... I was hoping someone would mute his mic... but everyone seemed to not mind it.. but thats my opinion, and i just wanted to let it out... I'm glad the event wasn't like 50 dollars.. i would of gladly paid that much to see nu:tone, but if that mc was spittin crap out during his set i'd want my money back...

I didn't realize they turned up the volume for Bailey. The volume for the rest of the sets was just right. Only time I wore my hearing protection is when I was taking pics right infront of the bassbin stack.

hitoizers made me feel like i just got turntables again. smooth operations. the sabre joint she opened with was probably one of my favs. thanks to bobby for allowing me to sneak in a few tunes w/her.

bobby went pretty big with what he played, and i know i heard that forthcoming icicle tune on critical in there somewhere. goddamn that shit is dope.

nu:tone had a good balance of his signature sound, with quality dancefloor material. i know eric popped a stiffy when he heard the original casino royale. a fancy stiffy.
