Euphoric Productions presents....Break it Down Friday, January 12, 2007. Richmond Va. @ ODC, 10pm-6am, 18+up.
Bassbin Twins Live!
Marine Parade/Belgian Breaks/Skint/Southern Fried Records, San Fransisco, Ca.
Bassbin Twins were born in Los Angeles, moved to Belgium, and are now based in San Francisco. Started in 1992 simply because of a "love for the beats", they've recorded for Skint, Belgian Breaks, Southern Fried, and others, as well as their own numerous one off indpendent releases.
A live Bassbin Twins show is a remix of all their favorite music. Their innovative tunes range from breaks to house to drum 'n bass. Anything and everything can get woven into the mix. Eclectic in nature, the connection lies in the unique rub they put on each track.
Monk from Rabbit in the Moon
Hallucination records, Djmonk.com, Hallucination.com, Tampa. Fla.
One of the most versatile djs around, Monk is known for his unique dj sets ranging from his traditional hardbangin' house -vs- funky breaks style with a touch of drum & bass & hip hop, to a deeper "Dark Side Of The Monk" set that leans toward a darker tech-house meets tribal & disco house style. If Monk can't make yo' booty move, yo' booty must be dead. Voted in BPM magazine as receiving the "most fan email nominations" in the country and one of Americas Favorite DJs - March 2003, Monk has forged his place in the underground dance community. A forefather of the Hallucination-Generation, originator, innovator, guaranteed to rock tha party, Monk continues to freak the funk week in & week out headlining shows across the nation.
Hallucination on Film
On a Vision Impossible Inc.Tampa, Fla.
What started with Monk, as a means to provide visuals for the stage show of Rabbit In The Moon, and Hallucination Special events, with 16mm film loops.. with help from film pro' Don Knight and early cohort AARON DIXON... filming custom clips, visual samples, and chaos, has now turned into a nationwide visual hailstorm with the help of some outside influences and friends in the industry (Factory Visuals / EBN / OVT Visuals Chicago / Lloyd Alvarez at 'Shake). Now with the help of VJ/ARTIST Berkeley Meyer, Hallucination On Film takes special event videography to the next level of production. Berkeley now the touring VJ for MONK & JACKAL & HYDE, adds a new dimension to next level video production. Armed to the teeth with visual weapons, slaughtering minds one by one, "Visual Armageddon" style, H.O.F. provides a visual soundtrack for the New World Order:

whats the venue like? :mj1:

The Venue is hot. It has three levels. The first level is where you enter, full bar, dancefloor, private booths to the side dj booth right over the crowd. Then the next two levels is reminiscent of Nation. Go up a long set of stairs and there is a HUGE open area with all sorts of space to get down. This is the first time the upstairs has EVER been opened so you are in for a treat. There is another set of stairs that leads to the third floor which has a opening in the middle of it which overlooks the second floor. All sorts of room, dark, discreet setting and bangin' ass beats all night. The best part is that alcohol is served until 6am...the only afterhours club in Richmond allowed to do that! So come check this event out. It's gonna blow your mind. Buy tickets @ Dj Hut, Turnstyle, Kulture or online @ wantickets.com. $15 in advance, $22 @ the door. See ya there!!!

ok so yeah
don't be looking forward to a nice place, but it will be fun
ODC= Old Dirty Couch
its a private club normally for members only (who consist of all the strippers in RVA)
you will have fun though
but be ready to get down and dirty

donald glaude or this????
dunno
hard choice there
djshugadadde
2007-01-08, 01:46 PM
You are right about it being a private club for members but this event is open to the public once a month(which occurs on the 12th) and the ENTIRE club is being opened which has NEVER been done. It's not what you are used to. What till you se the two other levels! Oh, and plenty of strippers will be there. It's the only place for them to party once the strip clubs close!

Sorry about your ill feelings towards what happened at Psykafunkapuss. It was very unfortunate the way things turned out. However, If anybody presents their ticket from Psykafunkapuss at the door at Break it Down, they will get in for a reduced price of $10. Hope to see you there!

yours wasn't the only cancelled party this year, Buzz halloween w/ DB, reid speed and hive at koncrete jungle, and psykafunkapuss, after nations closed it seems like everytime I try to go out the party is cancelled or DJ's dropped off the lineup

the venue is def legit this time. Superdirty "Rave Till Dawn" style.
Tickets at Turnstyle for $15 till we close on Friday night at 8pm (the shop is located across the street & down a 1/2 a block from the venue).
will be fun times. got some fun & jazzed out dnb selections for my part of the evening (w/ Turnstyle Soundsystem). MC Joe Threat will be kickin it with me on the mic. And the Jesse Split will be throwin down some bumping house sounds.
We have a ton of new live / FM radio mixes to give out.
Scope us out to get a copy. You will love it. Drive safe everyone. It is time to get your dance on..FRIDAY.

it all depends on the MC, but i usually enjoy a good MC during a sick drum and bass set, now of course after an hour of hearing the MC constantly talking it does get annoying but you gotta have respect for the MC's too

jill and i just got back from our weekend in richmond. the party was a lot of fun. the joint was a total dive but to be expected. buster's set was phenomenal - i really wish it was recorded, i danced my ass off. sucks the set up kept skipping whenever anyone would dance/jump/bounce too close to the dj ..lol. monk was monk. good for what it is, but not really my style. pete from bbt was fucking awesome. sucks he had some technical difficulties at teh beginning of his set but the show went on adn he killed it.
sucks you could only drink downstairs, but i understand why. i am also convinced that richmond is the land of left feet dancers - if you were there, you would understand.
big up the dc crew that came out, big up monk's stripper-dancer-chick, and most of all, big up the sluts. no whores, no party!

oh yeah, i forgot . . . the police like to go to this guys parties even more than everyone that bought a ticket.

becuase that is how they could get the 18+ crowd into the party. from what i understand, nobody under 21 could go downstairs where alcohol was being served. it was based on the kind of permit the party had.
as far as the police, i didnt think they were overbearing at all. i was glad they were there, because that way the party wasnt going to get busted and all hell break loose like with what happened at psykafunkapuss. if people could party responsibly, then there wasnt going to be a problem is the way i see it. they were moreso just there for presence, anyway. altho i was 100% sober that night, i would say the cops pretty much looked the other way for those who were not, so to speak.

i think those excuses would make sense if this was another outdoor party. but i don't see how a party at a real club requires police presence. i've never seen police inside any other club i've been to. and as far as i'm concerned if people with big Xs on their hands can't be on the same floor as the bar . . . and alcohol can't be on the same floor as the main acts, then somebody sucks at getting some permits.
they are not excuses, they are reasons. if ravers didnt act so fucking stupid, then sure, police presence is not needed. but after what happened at psykafunkapuss, where alcohol was being sold WITHOUT A PERMIT and (supposedly) large quantities of drugs were recovered, i can fully understand why the police were involved. i cannot speak for euphoria productions, but if i were them, the smart move would have been to invite the cops. i did not see any arrests, the police were respectful, and i would go as far to say some were friendly enough. there is a big difference between an afterhours hole in the wall in *richmond* and a say, a venue like Five in DC.

Fair enough, but I personally will not be attending anymore of their events.
As for the large quantities of drugs at psychafunkapuss . . . I was there and watched the whole thing go down. I saw the police wander in, walk around shining flashlights for a while and just "find" a large bag of something within about 10 minutes. I didn't however see anyone get arrested. That one smelled like a sting to me.

It had nothing to do with the party. Both officers are there every Friday and Saturday regardless. Keep in mind ODC is an afterhours club. Meaning alot of drunk people come in and out. Drunk people as we know can cause problems from time to time. They are there for the safety of the patrons nothing more. Trust me, I know both officers and I play there every Friday and never once has there been an issue of them being overbearing. They are just there to make it safe =)

As far as the 'puss' party I see both points of view. I agree it was a sting and form what I heard ABC was behind it (usually is). However I thought the cops were very nice. Think about it, there was only 1 way out of the party. They could have held a checkpoint right there and think of how many DUI's could have been given. They could have done full vehicle searches based on those DUI's for prob cause. But they didn't. They could have come and broke up the rally point at the gas station where everyone was trying to figure out where to go. But they didnt. It was more or less a party without a permit that ABC wanted shut down. I will agree that it was very unfortunate though. I had only been there about 15 mins =(

Actually I talked to several of the Sheriffs who were there throughout the night and they were hilarious. Really nice guys and they weren't there to cause trouble. They were there to enforce the alcohol permit, plain and simple, not to bust ravers. Hell, they even refused to search Lauren when she thought thats why they were posted at the door. If the club had a liquor license, they would likely not have been there.
I mean if you think about it, one of the reasons the field party failed was because of their serving alcohol without a permit. It only makes sense that they would willingly allow the police in to this party to show them that everything was copacetic.

I was pleasantly surprised by the whole evening.
Honestly, whenever I go down to Richmond I don't
typically have the best time or some drama
eventually unfolds, ruining the weekend. BBT owned
that evening and I have to admit the vibe in that
place changed from semi-stagnant to booming.
Thanks Dion for talking my head off on the trip back,
I would have probably fallen asleep otherwise.
Memorable Moment of the Evening: We were sitting
on the stripper stand before she (go-go dancer) took
the stage for Monk's performance. Most of us
retreated back to the other side opposite of the
stage, however; Jill just turned her seat and had an
up front view of the whole spectacle.
The grin on her face was hysterical...

tranzlogic pretty much said it all - and he knows better than anyone as the resident DJ at ODC.
im not sure why you have such a problem with the way the party was set up - i really dont think it was that big of a deal. yeah, i would have liked to be able to drink upstairs...but whatever.
the promoter did not decide to have cops there, nor did he decide to have downstairs be the only place alcohol was allowed. he was told that if he wanted to have the party there, that was the way it was going to be. he wasnt the one that got permits for the party - the place has permits in place.
as for the cops - they are there every week, and they were EXTREMELY nice. one of them walked me and my girlfriend out to the parking lot, flagged a cab for us, and told the driver exactly where we were going. even better - my girl had earlier burned him with a cigarette by accident, and he was cool about it.
anyway - i had a dope time, and im looking forward to playin' there again.

Now I understand that people are confused and a little at odds with the whole drinking downstairs only thing, but ask yourself, do you want some random drunk guy trying to bump and grind all over you or your girl while you are trying to dance to Monk or Bassbin Twins? You have to remember that ODC is an afterhours club that normally caters to people who want to continue to drink until 6 am. That's not necessarily a bad thing except when you get those one or two individuals that can't control their alcohol and can ruin a good time for the people just trying to have fun and dance. I convinced the owner to let me have that night for 18 and up strictly to let everyone have the chance to listen to some dope acts, sorta like Buzz did. It's hard to pull that off without having a bunch of idiot security guards breathing down your neck all night. With that in mind...I can make the next party 21 and up only and you would be able to drink throughout the club, but then the 18-20 year olds would be missing out on all of the fun. I'm just trying to make this as much fun as possible while trying to include everyone. Give me your thoughts on this topic and based on the response, I'll make a decision. Thanks for your support!:chill:

I thought it was a blast! It took me a minute to get used to the layout and vibe, and to be honest it wasn't what I expected. (Not sure what I expected...) But after I settled into the routine of drinks down and dancing up it was great! I remember being a youngin' and loving to have the chance to come out and dance so I'd say keep things the way they were and keep bringing some bomb talent. Much respect!
