I'd go with the traditional dress to impress kind of attire that many of the new clubs are adopting. Just dress reasonable and it shouldn't be an issue, but then again I could be wrong :)

From what I was just told the dress code isn't too strict, but try to stay away from baggy pants, athletic wear/jerseys and hiking boots (aka Tims).

So basically don't look like a thug. Although, to be honest, I wouldn't recommend looking like a hard-core candy raver either. The best bet would probably be to leave the UFO's at home.

good luck guys. i hope this works out. It is rather unfortunate that the name is such an obvious rip off of the world clubbing brand PACHA! however this does not take away from the quality of the djs that are playing, who are my friends. I just hate it when club owners are unoriginal, and try to stuff cheap imitations of real culture down our throats.

See, the only reason why I ask is that for places like FIVE I usually wear a pair of neutral UFOs and a nice turtleneck or top. Def not "hood" and totally not "hardcore candy" either

Yay. I can't believe I've become that kid who has to ask this for every party.

These days you really have to assume that unless its a warehouse or field party, you won't be able to get fully dressed in raver gear. Five and the occasional Buzz party are the few club environments that allow it now.

Funshine
2006-12-19, 03:19 PM
Yeah, I understand... it's just that simply wearing neutral UFOs isn't "fully dressed in raver gear" in my opinion. I should be able to wear those and NOT have any other raver gear on and still be dressed decently.

OMG. I think I'm getting jaded. Quick! Help!

despite appearances, I think the name actually has little to do with trying to rip-off pacha for a couple of reasons. I don't know for sure why the owner chose that name, but from what I know of the place I'll say this:

pasha includes a moroccan restaurant on the ground level and the club on the top two floors and the name applies to both, not just the club...the principal owner is originally from north africa and is using a word from his culture to express the "luxuriousness" of the place)...as in fit for a pasha (the word is obviously not spanish, though they do spell it a C...the spanish, like others, picked it up from turkish).

also, it's not as if the club part was conceived solely for edm and was thus named that to rip-off one of the world's leading club brands, as you say. nuvo music will be doing saturday nights there, in conjunction with other partners, and they're going to largely go with house. but the people doing friday nights will do a mix of world music, latin, commercial etc...and other nights will revolve around other types of music, so it's not as if it's going to be an edm-only club that stands to benefit by using that name.

anyway, you may disagree, but that's how I see it based on what I know...so I thought I'd try to set the record straight.

and the important thing, as you say, is to come out and support steve and the rest of the funky house crew on saturday night!

Five doesn't actually have a dress code tho. You could wear a jersey, w/ UFO's, and Tims and get it just fine. That would be an awesome outfit lol.

My understanding is that "Pasha" is the Turkish word for "King." Given what little I know of the people putting this place together I think it's not just possible, but most likely more to do with something along these lines as opposed to any thought to the club brand name Pacha.

And I wouldn't even say the club owners are in their "own little world" as much as I would that we're in OUR own little world since that's a brand name more to do specifically with EDM, and I don't see people who aren't involved heavily in the EDM industry knowing what Pacha is.

Jeans should be definitely fine, unless they're super baggy.

Tennis shoes... probably. I'm not sure if that counts as "athletic wear"? I will try to find out from the promoters and will post the answers here. But yeah, I'm going to guess that most tennis shoes are ok.

Hats... hmmm not sure about this one either. Again, I will try to find out.

Generally speaking, from what I gather the dress code follows this kind of logic:

YAY: if you look somewhat trendy
NAY: if you look like a thug or hardcore raver

Sneakers are ok as long as their stylish. Hats are probably ok, but just to be safe, wait till you get inside to put them on.

Also, the promoter reasurred me that if anything becomes an issue, they will do their best to deal with it.

Again, if you come to the club looking at least somewhat respectable I'm sure you'll be fine.

i'm not even trying!!! and far be it from me to really knock anyone for doing their damn thing. i djed at a party called back door bambi, which was a straight rip-off of the miami franchize, and i did mention to the promoter at the time that i was uncomfortable with the whole idea. but i did it anyway.

my favorite one was when i co-opted the baltimore "BELIVE" logo, cause there were so many banners around the city, that you could not escape being branded. we had a small and shortlived party called believe.

being a graphic designer, i am aware of the logos etc. floating around.

but seriously, how late is this club open? i might like to come down to d.c. saturday night...

how many club brands can be co-opted into one d.c. venue?

Hey,

My name is dave gutierrez, co-founder of Eden Experience DC. I wanted to thank my partner Ricardo Reinoso for letting me use his login in for this response.

I have been reviewing your comments regarding the branding of Eden and the name of the club...Pasha. It is our intention with Eden to create more of a movement vs. a brand. We intend to create a venue that will showcase all types of emerging art that comes together around a house music event. Eden is a real effort to showcase and heavily profile artists in such a way as to create a real jumping off platform for any artist that attaches to our experience. This is why we feel it is essential to stream the event live. It allows individuals to experience artists "in their space". Besides, web tv provides a platform to more creatively showcase and drive unique revenues for the artists, not only those being showcased that evening, but a way to review other artists in the growing Eden Community.

My company www.flavoredlayers.com is committed to the emancipation of artists. As such, I am creating a web television network committed to this vision...Evolv.tv. Evolv and Nuvo are partnering to create a live venue that will engage the DC arts community and drive content for the first channel on Evolv.tv called www.edenexperience.tv. It is here that we will help artists maneuver better in business/marketing and ultimately assist in building any artists enterprise.

To us, Eden is a garden for artists to grow and flourish. We are going to do our best to make this happen. BTW, our current logo was always meant to be temporary. It just seemed to be a logical place holder at the time. It is our intention to engage a new Grahics Artist ever month to remix it anyway. As far as the club name...out of our control. We just hope people see US for what we are trying to be.

What I love most about this opportunity are the people who are beginning to port into the experience who will ultimately be the defining source of inspiration, direction and content for Eden. Thank you for being one of those sources of information. I would love to meet you one Saturday night at Eden and get more of your perspective.

Peace and Blessings to ALL Artists,

Not really conducive to an artistic experience, but thats the nature of the beast with a majority of DC nightclubs i guess. At least the promoters are willing to deal with any issues.
