it's that time again......2006 is coming to a close; 2007 awaits.

Who is your local dj of the year?

Who's that one dj that blew your mind when you heard him/her play??
Who's the one dj that brings it each and every time you see him/her?
Who's the one dj that raises the bar...not only with selection, but mixing?
Who's that one special dj that makes you want to get better at what your own mixing?
Who's the one dj that inspires you?

Ian/DaniellaDowns started a thread (http://www.buzzlife.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69127) very similar to this last year.

thoughts and comments please....
p.s. - I need to think about this.

My pick is joenice you always deliver it with nice and just have this charisma. Although I dont really play dubstep you've still inspired me to get better on the 1's and 2's and pump the crowd. I meen thats what its all about isnt it? Big up man :onethumb: 5 for the reload! !

Joe I've managed to follow you a little more this year and have been really impressed with what you do. It's a shame that local dj's don't get the respect they should so I am not sure whether to nominate you for this or not, but I know you get around and give you much respect.

I think overall my vote has to go to Mike Haddad. He's been moving beats all over the place and out of any dj in DC he probably has one of the biggest followings.

Bobby Jae.

I thought he didn't classify himself as a local dj, and instead classified himself as international.

It's a tough choice, but I think Illeffect is probably my favorite for the year. That asshole keeps making it harder for the rest of us.

Way to go, jerk.

I dont remember playing any housewarming parties. the only "house" party i remember playing was the birthday party in Laurel this past January that Jim organized for Ian. I remember that one b/c one of my friends from London was in town and i played in the basement. Brio and Matt from NorthCarolina were on before me. Logo Jon told me this night was the first time he's ever heard me before. I got on the decks....3 tunes in...i could smell the speaker burning. 2 tunes later...gone. Bare in mind...i didnt jack up the levels or anything. I just did what i did. Those D1 tunes were too fierce. Of course..."Conference" got mashed again !

My choice -- Tittsworth. I know he's done more than anyone else in this area, including me. he does things his way, plays what he wants and -- as a fellow dj, i completely respect that.

Besides, he did a remix of the Eastern Motors commercial. he wins.

I'm not even sure you can classify him as a "local". I mean...once you play out of the country...are you really "local" anymore?

As always....i have to big up DanGee and JohnAsk. Why you ask? They were there when i was playing in front of 10 people at Sonar 3 years ago. They were there when everyone looked at me funny and said..."What is this dubstep stuff? is it like drum & bass?" They were there from, well -- the beginning.

They believed in me....and i'm eternally grateful. I'm not sure i would be where i am if it wasnt for them.

seriously, no offense to any of the other D&B djs on the board, but I got turned on to this guy about 2 years ago when he opened up for LTJ Bukem at nation on a random wednesday night. He seriously spun a ridiculous set that night and I have to say he was just as impressive as Bukem was. He has never disappointed me since. Mad props to him, he is smooth with his mixes and he plays to my taste of D&B.

Joe Nice - always making moves, stateside and beyond, always focused, always has the time to discuss anything from a new tune to Atlantic Starr to a Chipotle burrito. It's a nice balance. I'm sure the area/country/world can expect even bigger things from him in 2007.

Demetrios - one of my favorites djs to hear out. He's consistent technically and musically, always plays ear-pleasing sets and puts out excellent mixes. Would like to see him booked more in the new year.

D-Fect - the best thing to happen to tag teams since Lethal Weapon.

I must've totally made it this year... two mentions in this thread... :D

Impossible for me to pick my favorite or my pick for local DJ of the year, but I can definitely list a few (in no particular order)

-> LXG -> always bumping new shit that's always rocking the floor
-> 2rip -> still the only DJ on the planet that I trust to tag with and one of the hardest working guys around here
-> Deke -> pushed shit to a new level this year and the new production is just icing on an already delicious cake...
-> Ciconte -> never ceases to amaze me [how he manages to stay vertical and spinning after consuming all those beverages...]
-> Christauff -> you don't really ever get the same face of Christauff twice... this guy can throw down anything anywhere and make it work...
