ok what the fuck ever, spor is one fucking guy. it's not amazing that i don't know that because i don't follow dnb anywhere near as much as i follow other genres. the only reason i originally liked spor is because they made a tune (which you and jason played) that had a breakbeat in it. i then listened to some more tunes.
my fucking apologies.
i'm actually really annoyed at homeboy for saying my attitude is what is killing dnb. as awesome as i might normally find that, in this situation, i do not.

people DON'T support. i'm not denying that in any way.
he just needs to think before he tells someone who doesnt prefer dnb to other genres, that their attitude about not supporting dnb parties is killing that community.
that is common sense to me. i don't blame him for breaks parties not working out. cuz i wouldnt expect him to come.

well, i was to play in the lounge that night. i am a breaks/house/electro dj.
per dnb, i honestly do not like most of it, but i do think spor is pretty cool. that's not to say i don't like others, but i compare spor to splitloop (think spor, but breaks), and that's why i dig them.
yeah, i think it sucks that i'm not playing now, but i was even more looking forward to hearing spor.

I think you're putting words in Ian's mouth. I think it's great that any non-dnb DJ would want to come out and support a genre that doesn't necessarily reflect what they spin. But, as for not supporting your own scene... I agree. I think that if you love a certain type of music, you should try and make it out when/wherever possible (be it DC or Bmore) because if we don't go out and throw $$ (at the door or at the bar) at these events that are trying to further the scene's prestige, then soon we won't have anywhere to go out to hear the music that we love, besides our cars. I started promoting for this party because I knew Minnie had something good going with DR. But if you take events and opportunites like this for granted for too long, you'll lose the chance to enjoy them.
my bad, i'm sorry that another dnb party died because i don't like the genre enough to support it all the time.

There are a lot of different factors that go into making a party unsuccessful, but I think often the biggest factor are well-intended people who want to throw a good party but have no idea what the fuck they're doing. In these cases, the party eventually dies and 9 times out 10 the party thrower blames the patronage (or lack thereof) rather than themselves for poor planning and execution.
I just like to go on record saying I don't know Wicked Sway, have never met him or anything like that. I'm just speaking generally.

Seriously by the looks of the line ups on the party you can tell two things:
1 - His heart was in the right place
2 - He really did not understand the true mechanics of event promotion
Also when you're new in this business you get raped by agents and artists on price. It took me a few years to figure this out but when you have other people depending on you for sustainance you can't take risks like this. -

Trying to glean profit from a small party is next to impossible. Imo, *that's* why so many of them flare up and die out.

Of coarse my heart is in the right place I love dnb. I'm not new in this buisness. And im not no sucker thats gonna get raped by some bigheaded agent. I'm in dnb. Meaning I know the DJs and producers personally. All truth being told. The only agent I ever used was for Spor. I've been throwing parties for years. I used to throw parties in Allentown at the Freightyard. Its where I met Stakka and the Sinthetix. Its how my record label was started. I had great promoters doing this Drum Ritual party. These parties weren't busts. The first party I had 280 people the second 200, and the third 180 ...those numbers being with the guest list. Thing is: I wasnt making money. I mean for fucks sakes Evan I had 5 people from Local 13 show up at my party saying they were on the guest list and you put them there. I dont even know you. Talk about mechanics of event promotion and being true. You should of asked me to put your people on the guest list. Anyways Robb said hi.

I mean for fucks sakes Evan I had 5 people from Local 13 show up at my party saying they were on the guest list and you put them there. I dont even know you. Talk about mechanics of event promotion and being true. You should of asked me to put your people on the guest list. Anyways Robb said hi.
*edit ...btw I let those dudes into the party, because I knew you and robb went way back, and he happened to be my hometown kid.
I had said a bunch of stuff in response but really it doesn't matter because the party has been cancelled and the names on the guest list were an internal matter that has been dealt with. But realistically, I don't need to ask you to put names on my promoter guest list at the club that I helped build and continue to help build.

honestly that original post was meant as a compliment not an insult and I think you took it the wrong way. I just see it as, if you're doing this party with this format and you have to make decision between the party and your bills then somewhere in there you are getting raped. Whether its your artist cost or flyer cost or what somewhere in there you are losing money that you shouldn't be.

its usually not the most obvious costs that end up adding up to be what puts you in the red... like DJ's flights/hotels and venue costs...

Yeah I think you took it my post the wrong way too. I didnt take yours as an insult. Anyways, your friends who came to the party, were almost we're not allowed in by Brigette. I personally went to the door. Listened to what your boys had to say, and allowed them inside, not the club.
But yeah I'm regrouping my thoughts, promoters, and working a different angle to cut costs in certain places. Right now my main focus is getting my next 4 releases out this year and my daughter a phat ass christmas. Anyways good luck this thursday.

nah doesnt matter much now does it. Dont know what part you had in building the Sonar club. As I dont know you and Lonnie didnt tell me. But it would of ran smoother for your friends at the door if you would of had them added to the list, as the people at the door had no clue to who they were, and the girl at the door seemed to have no idea either. Anyways only thing that is important for me right now is my daughter, the wife, and the next record release and how many units it will sell. Point blank: do I wanna lose money throwing parties or release records that are gonna sell out. Good luck this thursday: Cannon!1

They weren't my friends, they were actually friends of Sonar/UW. Thats really oddabout brigette because i texted local 13 +3 to brigette earlier in the night and she responded "got it". She also blamed the mishap on my intern the next day. Really strange. As far as cutting costs make sure you're printing your flyers at www.groveprinting.com. They are the cheapest in the business and if you have them in by 5am you can pick them up at 5pm in most cases and theyre located in Kensington.

No worries bro. Like I said I let them in. Had no problem with it. If they are down for the cause then so am I.
So yeah man thats where we got ours pressed at www.groveprinting.com. 5000 of them. Making them smaller would make them cheaper. The ones you're using seems to be the cheapest way to do it.
