FEATURING THE VERY BEST IN HOUSE FROM ACCROSS THE GLOBE:
TODD TERRY(X-Mix Productions - NYC)
Grammy nominated Todd Terry defined New York house during the '80s, with his sampladelic smorgasbord blending of classic disco & Hip-Hop. With two of the most respected crossover remixes of the House era ("I'll House You" by the Jungle Brothers and "Missing" by Everything but the Girl), Terry more than earned his title"Todd the God,"after his G.O.D. white label series. Producing a multiple of top 10 crossover hits on the UK pop charts including:‘Keep On Jumpin’, Royal House ‘Can You Party’, ‘Something Goin’ On.’Todd has remixed platinum artists including theRolling Stones, Shakira, Michael Jackson, Garbage, Usher, Tina Turner, Jamiroquai and Janet Jackson. Currently, Mr. Terry puts out tracks on his label In House, which he remixed Nina Simon’s classic “Feeling Good.”
CAJMEREaka Green Velvet(Cajual, Relief - Chicago)
Curtis Jones(aka Cajmere, aka Green Velvet) studied chemical engineering at the University of Illinois, where he exposed himself to the energetic culture and lifestyle of house. In 1991, midway though graduate school, Cajmere returned to Chicago to pursue his dream of producing house music. In 1992, after surviving on cheese sandwiches and maximizing credit limits, Mr. Jones finally made an imprint on the dance community with his infectious experiment, "Coffee Pot" (It's Time for the Percolator) on Clubhouse Records. Cajmere went on to collaborate with soulful House diva Dajae, which gave birth to a #2 Billboard Dance Chart and the International dance hit - "Brighter Days". It was at this point that Cajmere decided to start Cajual Records. Having his own label gave Cajmere the autonomy to attain his goal of developing a sound that was representative of Chicago - thus, putting Chicago back on the map.
ROY DAVIS JR.(Ubiquity, Undaground Therapy - Chicago)
You can't mention Roy Davis Jr. without mentioning "Gabriel, hailed by countless International publications worldwide as "Dance Tune Of The Year", Produced with vocalist and multi-talented musician Peven Everett, "Gabriel" and hit single "Watch Them Come" are certified soulful house music anthems. Originally born in California, Davis moved to Chicago's south side early in his childhood. After being turned on by legendary acid-house pioneers like Phuture and Lil' Louis, he became a DJ and began producing as well, with his first single, "20 Below," recorded for the Jack Trax label. Roy describes the music that he makes as "soul electrica"; soul music mixed with electronics. His style has changed and grown up through the years as he has been going back to his spiritual roots in house music, away from the sound that he once was associated with - Phuture's "acid" and "Wild Pitch." His latest album, "Chicago Forever" included the hit single, "If You Wanna" dropped on Ubiquity Records, and featured vocals by Detroit native Terry Dexter, spent a blazing 10 weeks on the Billboard Dance Charts. RD’s current mixed CD “Get Large” is available from Large Records.
ROBBIE RIVERA(Juicy Music - Miami)
Robbie's talent is recognized across the music industry and he is the first port of call for many wanting the Rivera sound on their releases. Though out the years, Robbie has been commissioned as a remixer by a wide range of international artists such as Faithless, Felix Da Housecat, Funky Green Dogs, Moloko, Sonique, RES, Sinead O'Connor, Victoria Beckham, Madonna, Ricky Martin, Santana, Harry Romero, Puretone, Kylie Minogue, Carlos Vives, Pink and Brandy. In his Miami based studio, Robbie began his own label "Juicy Music" which is distributed by Unique in London. Through Juicy, Robbie reflects his individual style and traits, while also giving him the opportunity to work with many of his friends and successful collaborators. A pounding, sexy house feel with a love of melodies and vocals. His label has featured superstars producers like: Superchumbo, Antoine Clamaran, DJ Flex, Saeed & Palash, DJ Rooster & Sammy Peralta, Willie Morales, Oscar G, Todd Terry, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso & Stonebridge.
OJi(Spiritual Journey, Poji Records - Baltimore)
DJ Oji was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He has been a DJ since the early of age of 14, dating back as far as 1984. Being from New York, DJ Oji has had the rare privilege of having been exposed to "House Music" and many of its legendary DJ's from the very beginning. However, most of his dance years were spent under these influences. His DJ years and production credits would later be developed in Baltimore, MD, which he now considers to be home. He came to Baltimore to attend Morgan State University and discovered that it was here that the seeds would be planted. He also discovered another brother who also shared his vision and love for House Music. DJ Pope is his name. Together they are both "The Brother's in the Struggle" and co-owners of Baltimore based recording label POJI Records.
SAM BURNS(Underground Soul Solution, XM-Radio “Beyond The Mix” - DC)
A staple in the DC House scene for more than 2 decades and a DJ for over 30 years, Sam “The Man” Burns has dedicated his life to music. As a resident of the infamous Club House in DC from the mid 80’s to 90’s, Sam earned the attention and respect of many in the district. Perhaps the most influential contribution of his career, the Underground Soul Solution, has spanned over 9 years. This Sunday night weekly had it’s beginning at State of the Union and developed into an internationally respected underground house weekly while at Red. Drawing a loyal fan base of house heads from within the district, across the region, and all over the globe, this highly successful party continues today at Dragonfly. Sam hosts the Saturday XM Radio Show “Beyond the Mix” and holds down the fort at DJ Hut, one of DC’s hottest record shops. Although Sam has done more for underground house in the district than any other individual he has the vision to realize that “House Music can no longer be commercial free.”
THOMAS BLONDET(Rhythm and Culture Recordings, 202 Digital, Cakewalk - DC)
Thomas Blondet, aka DJ Tom B has been laying down underground house at legendary house clubs for the past .fteen years. A Washington DC staple, Tom has had the time to build a following, starting at age of 14. Inspired by the early sounds of Mr. Fingers and Masters at Work, Tom developed an informed production style. Remixing such artists as Vivian Green for Sony Music and Marlon D. on Jellybean Recordings while building his own songbook, Tom was always looking for new places to take his music. Tom later began experimenting with more latin and house influences in the studio with releases on Odds and Ends and Rhythm and Culture Recordings, to name a few.
RICARDO SANTAMARIA(Solo Muzika, Omnipresent Syndicate - DC)
Born and raised in D.C., Ricardo Santamaria was immersed to vinyl delivering sounds of Latin rhythms since birth. This constant exposure welcomed all forms of music, and at 12, his aunt's cassette tapes from the infamous D.C. club, The Pier was unveiled. Thereafter, he instantly embraced the beginning of Disco and Electronica from the fresh sounds of Tom Moulton, Salsoul, Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, etc. The fusion of his Latin background and dance music influenced him to begin collecting vinyl at 14. He took almost a decade worth of experience and moved to New York. Ricardo partnered up with a reggae/R&B artist Jeffrey Spence in production. Since then, Ricardo has moved back to D.C. and is currently working in the studio. He soon plans to release his single "Steady or Not" on his Solo Muzika label.
SHANE CAMP (OmniPresent Syndicate, DC)
One of the fastest rising talents in the district, Shane Camp has been steadily gaining the attention and respect of house heads all over the region for the past 4 years. As a resident at Gallery Sessions, Shane has had the opportunity to play alongside an all star lineup of djs from accross the continent including: Roy Davis Jr, Gene Farris, John Howard, Kenny Glasgow, Sneak, Derrick Carter, Todd Terry & Honey Dijon, just to name a few. A member of OmniPresent Syndicate from the beginning, Shane has helped the resurgance of the house scene in DC, and has his sights on expanding his reach nationaly and internationaly. His ability to set the mood and control the energy of the crowd have caused Shane Camp to be a name that is synonomous with quality house in our Nation's Capital.

Joe Nice
Deep in the heart of South London's underground lies a sound that
percolates in the streets and vibrates the bass bins...this new sound is
dubstep. Representing Baltimore, there's no other dubstep dj in North
America as well-known and loved as JoeNice. He's recognized as the
ambassador of the dubstep sound in America and one of the pioneers of the
sound worldwide. His monthly radio show on GourmetBeats.com was the first to feature dubstep in the states and his following continues to grow. He's
a resident at the first US dubstep party, Dubwar NYC and he's the only US
dj to play at London's foremost dubstep party, the DMZ all-nighter.
Nothing but dubplate freshness -- all night long. Get to know the world of

Aligning Minds
"Music is meant to convey emotion and make us as humans feel and
communicate on a higher level."
Diversity plus unification and alignment through electronic sound is the
concept on which the Aligning Minds project is built upon and continues to
take shape. Producers Daniel Merrill and Mike Folk joined forces in 2001,
and since then have equally masterminded this musical vehicle,
consistently pushing it to new forms.
What is it? Where did it come from? Where is it headed? The Aligning Minds
sound is melodic and bass heavy. It's emotionally charged future music
that rides on hypnotic breakbeats, infectious basslines, dubby
soundscapes, and idm experimentation for one to dance or lounge too.
Originating in the sparse environment of rural western Maryland, both
Daniel and Mike spent their formative years pursuing various musical
styles and instruments. They both started out as guitarists, working in
various solo and group projects, unknowing of each other's existence.
After what they consider a fateful meeting, they started sharing ideas and
slowly moving toward a common goal. Shifting through a range of styles
varying from hiphop to industrial, to learning production techniques and
working on solo electronic efforts, they have truly shared the whole
creative progression together, from one extreme to another. After
becoming fascinated with electronic sound, they both agreed that it was
the next logical step to form a project together.
Through the use of both improvisation and mastering their studio skills,
they have solidified an encompassing and signature sound. To them, their
early-on musical isolation was a blessing, allowing them to observe, draw
influence, and re-interpret music in an individualistic approach. Without
a doubt, feeling like they could truly explore music in isolation
has played a major role in making their sound as diverse as it is.
Encompassing key elements from drum n bass, ambient, breakbeat, downtempo,
dub, idm/experimental, and world music, theirs is a sound to discover.
The current aim of the Aligning Minds movement is to take these
sounds- and to share them. To cross stylistic and cultural boundaries, to
unite people and their ideas, to spread the seed of common understanding -
and to drop some muthafucking bass in the process. All ideals aside,
this is music from the imaginations, hearts and souls of two producers who
want to use music to unite people and assist in positive growth and
change. Music IS a powerful mechanism of human development.
Performances are delivered live P.A. style, which results in a hybrid of
djing and live improvisation, playing only all original compositions,
and delivering them in a consistently evolving format. These guys share a
genuine desire to captivate and move their audience in fresh and enticing
ways, and it's what makes an AM experience memorable. With a growing
fan-base both online and in surrounding cities, they take full advantage
of every given opportunity to align the minds of their audience and
give them something real, fresh and relevant. Just make sure there is a
proper sound system to handle the output!

Noah Pred
Producing dance music and performing live for over eight years, Noah
Pred emerged from Vancouver's underground as a sought-after techno DJ
with a sophisticated sound and unique style. Devoted to authentic and
soulful strains of techno in all its permutations, Noah's sound
continues to evolve while remaining firmly driven by the dancefloor.
Since his first records came out in the late nineties, his productions
have received international support, appearing on charts from renowned
talent such as Carl Cox, Cari Lekebusch, and Laurent Garnier. His
subsequent 12-inch EPs and remixes have continued to garner critical
acclaim while moving dancefloors across the globe, appearing on
playlists from Tokyo to Glasgow.
As a DJ and live act, Noah has travelled throughout Europe and North
America, performing alongside such diverse artists as Funk D'Void, James
Holden and Mathew Jonson. After working as assistant A&R for Consigned
Recordings http://www.ascendrecordings.com/ in Montreal, Noah applied
his label skills by spearheading the Pacific Technics
http://www.rhythmicnyc.com/Rhythmic2004/labelpages/pacific_bigpage.html
project, a triple-vinyl compilation benefiting Amnesty International
http://amnesty.ca/. The Pacific Technics
http://www.rhythmicnyc.com/Rhythmic2004/labelpages/pacific_bigpage.html
CD, selected and mixed by Noah Pred, was released in June 2004.
Exploring his compositional versatility, Pred launched the Shen
http://shenism.com project later that year. Geared towards digital
downtempo, electronic dub and emotive IDM, Shen has provided Noah with a
creative outlet for productions that roam beyond the borders of
clubland. His debut Shen full-length, 'Outlines', is due out on Native
State Records http://nativestaterecords.com by the end of 2006.
Recently relocated to Toronto where he's accepted a DJ residency with
the Fukhouse http://www.fukhouse.ca/ crew, he currently runs two
record labels from his studio headquarters - Metapath Recordings

Next to Germany, Canada has the world's most vibrant young techno
community. Its celebrity producers (Richie Hawtin, Mathew Jonson,
Akufen) are now known far and wide, but a crop of the country's
lesser-hyped beatmakers have also been incredibly prolific over the past
few years. Count among them Noah Pred, the Toronto-based DJ and live
artist whose swelling catalog of releases for Metapath, Consigned and
Saboteur number more than two dozen. Pred's textured sound - built on a
groundwork of warm, vibrant synths, alien percussion and carefully
manipulated effects - recalls Luomo's lush tech house, Sutekh's eerie
minimalism and Cari Lekebusch's prominent, layered rhythms. Currently
Pred runs both the Metapath and Sentient Sound labels and he's recently
performed at the New Forms (Vancouver) and Decibel (Seattle) festivals.

This is one amazing line up and I cant wait. This reminds me in a way of the old Ultraworld parties at the dc armory right around Thanksgiving. In the way you look forward to a party.
I'm glad you brought this up....
The armory parties that Ultraworld & 2Tuff used to throw were a tradfition in DC that we looked forward to every year. Along with the success of Buzz during the late 90's, the armory parties helped bring national attention and respect for the EDM scene in DC.
We feel like it is time for DC to come together with the entire east coast once again to celebrate the music we love, the people that make this scene what it is, and the culture that surrounds the music. We hope to establish this Thanksgiving party as a new tradition in DC - but we need YOUR HELP to make it happen!
I'd like to think that the Gathering is just like the old armory parties, just a bit more "grown up" The rave scene is long gone, but that doesn't mean that massive parties can't be successful anymore. We are going all out for this event....transforming Love into a space that is going to be perfect for 4 floors of the best dance music the district has seen in years. NO DRESS CODE, NO NEGATIVE ENERGY..... JUST A BUNCH OF GOOD PEOPLE LOOKING TO CELEBRATE EVERYTHING THEY HAVE TO BE THANKFUL FOR!
There is a fine line between making underground music available for the masses, and sacrificing the integrity of the music for commercial/financial purposes. I can promise you guys that OmniPresent is doing this strictly out of a DEEP LOVE of "our" music, the people that are involved in the culture surrounding it, and the city we are proud to call home. There is nothing wrong with sharing underground music with a larger crowd than usual. In order for EDM to flourish in DC, we feel that it is important for EVERYONE (no matter what crew they are a part of) to come together and show the rest of the city what our scene is all about.
WE HOPE THAT ANYONE WHO CONSIDERS THEMSELVES A FAN OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC, NO MATTER WHAT GENRE, WILL JOIN US FOR THIS VERY SPECIAL CELEBRATION!!!

I'm also not usually into soulful/funky house, but thank god I can go out and not hear nuskool breaks or electro house. But since I was totally impressed with Todd Terry when he was at Gallery I'll probably go to this party.

JoeNice: The US ambassador of DubStep
Aligning Minds: 2 Person Live PA IDM/Breaks
and
Noah Pred: Lable Owner/Operator, underground techno producer from Toronto making his DC Debut.
Big night...so excited!

Yeah, Todd Terry is probably the best one on the lineup for me. Michael Gray would be totally sick though.
So, what's the deal? Is this going to take up all of Love? Or just a few rooms? I've never been to the place before, but from what I understand all of the EDM is traditionally in the Loft. However, this seems to be a bit too much for just one room.

Featuring dubplates, laptops, midis, synthesizers and PCs grinding out
the original sights and sounds of dubstep, minimal, IDM, tech-house and

JoeNice (Gourmetbeats/Dubwar NYC/BreaksFM/) Baltimore
Kicking things off will be a ride through the revolutionary sounds of
dubstep, piloted by the genre's US Ambassador JoeNice. This bass
inundated virus, born and bred in the streets of South London, is quickly
spreading to urban basements throughout the world. Listen and feel why
everyone's proclaiming '06 to be the year of dubstep.
Aligning Minds (88) Baltimore:
This two-person Live PA act embodies the past, present and future of EDM.
Rooted in EDM's tradition of creating a journey, these lads crank out
harmonious and soulful IDM coupled with crunchy, bass-heavy breaks.
Watching and moving with them as they trigger and create the sounds
through their PCs and synths is an experience you will remember.
Noah Pred (Metapath/Fukhouse/Sentient Sound) Toronto:
It's rare for a producer to have tracks on such a diverse catalogue of
labels. A resident of the Toronto underground scene, this guy's records
are in the bags of everyone from Carl Craig to Laurent Garnier. In his DC
debut, Noah will undoubtedly weave a complex auditory web from glitched

Mr. V
SOLE CHANNEL MUSIC, NYC
Versatile and determined, Victor Font (a.k.a. Mr.V) is set to become a major force in the music industry. With a life-long interest in music, Mr.V emerges from New York City's club scene as a well-respected DJ and budding producer/remixer. Born in Manhattan's Lower East Side in 1974, the Nuyorican discovered a great love of music at a very young age. By the age of fourteen, Victor started DJ’ing with help from neighborhood friends. After graduating from High School, Victor was so consumed with DJ’ing, he spent most of his nights practicing or visiting the clubs, listening and watching from other DJs.
Determined to have his own audience, Victor spun at as many house parties as he could. He finally got his first official club gig as Mr. V at Timmy Richardson’s 2i’s party in New York City.
Widely influenced and open-minded, Victor sites House, Hip-Hop, Latin, Garage & Disco Classics, Rhythm & Blues, and Jazz as his main musical influences. Victor has displayed his turntable talents at many popular nightclubs and parties in New York and across the globe, including: Bang The Party (NYC), Cielo Club(NYC), Underground Collective (NYC), Centro Fly (NYC), Southport Weekender (London, UK), Club Andalu in Washington D.C., Audio Deluxe (Edinburgh, Scotland), Club Core (Tokyo, Japan), Sonic Arch (Santo Domingo), Club Shelter (NYC), Roots (Cielo Club), Layers (Toronto, Canada), Louie Vega’s Dance Ritual (NYC), Sullivan Room (NYC), Layers at Bauhaus Nightclub (Toronto, Canada), GateCrasher The Summer Sound System (UK), SoulEyes (Tokyo), and Devotion- The End Up (SanFrancisco), to name a few.
Gaining many contacts through the years, Victor eventually landed a position at the Masters At Work record label (MAW Records), as an assistant to "Little Louie" Vega & “Ralphie Boy” Muniz. The position would bring him around world and give him a first-hand glimpse at the booming global dance scene. Adding to his repertoire, Victor has recently evolved into music production. His debut remix with Alix Alvarez, ‘The Anthem' was released on Underground Collective Recordings in 2002. With much success, Victor has many more projects in store.
Victor remains an integral part of the music and club scene with years of experience as a gifted DJ and aspiring producer with new ideas and a fresh sound. Dancing to the beat of his own drum, Mr. V is becoming a force in the dance music industry and blazing a trail for other DJs to follow in the future.

ALIX ALVAREZ
SOLE CHANNEL MUSIC, NYC
As a respected talent from NYC, Alix Alvarez is blazing a trail for young and exciting producers. He has begun to create his own niche in the music industry by establishing himself through music production. Today at the age of 25 he has worked with some of the industry’s top artists and produced stunning musical gems for some of the world’s best underground dance labels. From working in the studio with Osunlade on remix projects to collaborating on new material with Lem Springsteen (Mood II Swing), this self taught musician has already made his own imprint in the world of underground dance music.
Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, Alix grew up around a mixture of music. Hip-hop, R&B and Salsa were a daily consumption of Alix’s musical diet. That appetite grew further when Alix was introduced to the turntables at the age of 12. He quickly abandoned sports and other activities so he could spend time blending and cutting up records, though he wouldn’t realize the full effect of DJing until being exposed to the club scene in his later teens. One party in particular was The Shelter at Club Vinyl where Timmy Regisford held court every Saturday night. This was Alix’s first taste of underground nightlife. The Shelter as well as other underground institutions played a vital role in shaping Alix‘s sound. Inspired by both the music and the DJ’s, he began to promote himself by selling his mixed tapes on the streets. His determination to make a name for himself as a DJ was the first step in Alix‘s musical evolution. The next step would be to create the music he loved.
Alix began school at The Institute of Audio Research in Manhattan to study audio engineering where he graduated as one of the top students in his class. It wasn’t long before his hard work in school paid off. His interest in learning about the recoding studio eventually led him to an assistant engineer position at MAW studios owned by “Little” Louie Vega and Kenny “Dope” Gonzales (Masters at Work). It was his experience and training at MAW that helped him develop studio engineering skills, as he was already beginning to produce and write his own deep house gems.
To date, Alix has produced and remixed records for some of the worlds most respected deep house labels. The underground smash “Rising Into Joy”, which he produced and co-wrote with veteran singer Arnold Jarvis, was released on Blackvinyl Records in spring of 2002. It received critical acclaim for it’s sensual vocals and smooth glistening production. This is just one example of many records that has Alix’s deep, sultry, jazz influenced production style written all over it. Along side “Rising into Joy” his other original production work also includes the “Nu Breed E.P.” (Essence) and the “Reflections E.P.”(Dancetracks). Some of his remix work includes Tortured Soul “How’s Your life?” (Central Park), House Headz “The Anthem” (Ricanstruction Label), Luna “Alone” (Distant), Alma Horton "Gimmie That Music" (83 West), Santos "Love Made For Two" (Yoruba) and Mr.V "Jus' Dance"(Vega Records). He continues to add to that list as his production skills get tighter with each new release.
While Alix puts his main focus on production, his skills are just as sharp when it comes to DJing. He has rocked crowds all over NYC including underground hot spots like Bang the Party and Club Cielo, as well as rocking in other cities around the globe such as Tokyo, Paris, London, Istanbul and Toronto. Alix and his partner Dj Mr.V, another up and coming talent, established a popular underground dance party in NYC named Sole Channel. The duo decided to put the party on hold in the summer of 2004 to concentrate on developing another project of their own, SOLE Channel Music. Armed with fresh sounds, new ideas and exciting new collaborations from artists' such as Franck Roger, Siji and Arnold Jarvis, SOLE Channel is set to lead the way in innovative and forward thinking music in the underground dance scene.
Continuously cultivating his sound, Alix has established himself as a force to be reckoned with now and in the near future. Maintaining longevity and credibility through his music are vital to his success. "My main focus is to keep making music that stands the test of time"says Alix. With so much accomplished we still have so much more to look forward to. Just imagine the possibilities!

TODD TERRY
X MIX PRODUCTIONS, NYC
Grammy Award nominated DJ/Producer Todd Terry has been engulfed in dance music since he first started listening to European dance music records while growing up in Brooklyn. Already devoted to turntables, he heard something different in those tracks, and he “went for the difference. I never got a break in New York, but England happened right away, so I catered to them.” In any event, the Todd Terry sound was born.
By 1988, Todd Terry hit big in England and Europe, and his notoriety was making its way back to the U.S. In addition to DJ appearances, Todd was cutting his classic underground tracks A Day In The Life, Weekend, and Can You Party, released under monikers such as the Todd Terry Project, House Of Gypsies, and Royal House, all considered essential and ground breaking.
In the mid 90’s, the Ministry of Sound’s eponymous UK label released A Day In The Life, a collection of Todd Terry tracks that had been causing dance floor panic. That then led the way to a deal with Mercury Records allowing him to set up a context in which to work with his favourite singers and performers. The first release, Keep On Jumpin’ on featured a vocal workout from super-divas Martha Wash and Jocelyn Brown, together for the first time ever. The song became a top 10 UK crossover pop hit and worldwide smash. Todd followed with the anthem ‘Somethin Going On’, a top 5 UK crossover pop hit.
All the while, Todd continued to break new ground as a Producer/Remixer. From SNAP to Annie Lennox to George Michael to Bjork, Todd’s mixes bridge the ground between club cool and commercial accessibility. In 1995, his remix for Everything But The Girl’s Missing became a worldwide smash, giving the British duo their first ever hit. He then rode the charts with mixes for Garbage (Stupid Girl), The Cardigans (Love Fool), Everything But The Girl (Wrong), 10,000 Maniacs (More Than This), Jamiroquai (Alright), The Cardigans (Been It), and The Lightning Seeds (You Showed Me),.among others. He also produced a Robin S track (Givin’ You All That I’ve Got) for the multi-platinum Space Jam soundtrack. Recent work includes mixes for
INK/Distinctive Records 2005 release The Todd Terry Trilogy: Past, Present & Future on 3 x CD & 10 x 12” vinyl has inspired Todd fans both old and new with over 30 Todd classics and 10 new Todd songs. Todd is also releasing a barrage of new singles on Blanco y Negro, Elementary Group, and Manifesto/Mercury (who are also re-releasing the ‘Keep On Jumpin’ and ‘Somethin Going On’ in 2006). Ministry of Sound has licensed Philippe B Vs. Todd Terry ‘Can You Feel It (Can You Party)’ for a major 2006 release, a new version of the Todd classic Royal House ‘Can You Party’. Todd will mix the third installment of the acclaimed MN2S Masterclass compilation series which will be released in the Winter of 2007.
Todd is one of the world’s most celebrated figures in dance music. With almost two decades of dance floor domination under Todd’s belt the quality of his productions goes from strength to strength. Welcome to the church of house music presided over by Todd the God. Are you a believer?

CAJUAL RECORDS, RELIEF, CHICAGO
Chicago’s Curtis Jones is one of house music’s most innovative DJ/producers. In addition to playing energetic sets the world over, his tracks “Answering Machine,” “Flash” and “La La Land” have become enduring modern-electronic classics.Using the Green Velvet moniker to make his singularly twisted, funk-flecked house and techno hybrid, it was as Cajmere that he made his first musical mark back in the early 90's after ditching school half way through a post-grad, chemical engineering degree at top-notch US college Berkeley.
Up until then music had been a hobby fueled by cobbling together tracks on a "sixty buck keyboard, a cheap four-track and a cheap drum machine" while still an undergraduate at the University of Illinois. This DIY method of production was never taken seriously and when childhood plans to become a doctor were shelved Jones was firmly committed to a career as a chemical engineer. Because his dad was an occasional DJ — and no-one wants to do what their dad did for a living, right? — a musical path was something he'd never considered as a teenager.
As a child he was into sci-fi movies and time travel TV shows like Dr. Who and would spend hours pondering over the possibilities this would open up. He played the saxophone at school and had a talent for fiddling with a keyboard but remained largely un-interested in what he saw as his father's passion. "I did go to parties where a lot of those legendary people played," he remembers, "but if I'm going to be real about it, I'd have to say I went just for the babes and the good music, I was never really aware who was DJing. Not until much later anyway."
As time went on Jones discovered what was his innate love and understanding for house music, a sound that had grown throughout the mid-80s out of Chicago's deep-rooted disco scene.
It was this cut-up, tacky, production style of the early house sound that Jones absorbed and translated into the 'Underground Goodies EP', his first release as Cajmere (that's CAJ as in Curtis A. Jones) put out in 1991 on his own recently started Cajual label.
A year later he had his first massive hit as Cajmere with the brilliant house tune 'Coffeepot (It's Time For The Percolator)' also out on Cajual. He then teamed up with Chicago-based vocalist Dajae for 'Brighter Days', a high impact, more mellow house tine that came out on Emotive. But it wasn't long before Jones needed another outlet for his sounds.
Desperate to make some "weirder electronic shit" he set up Relief, an offshoot of Cajual, in 1993. The label gave birth to his first Green Velvet production 'Velvet Tracks'. While Green Velvet (a name given to him by a friend's dad) provided a more intense and wickedly creative production outlet behind studio doors, it also allowed him to unleash his deeper-seated artistic urges in public, on an unsuspecting audience.
When he emerged as the flamboyant, neon-haired Green Velvet to front mid-90's hits like 'Preacher Man', 'Answering Machine' and 'Flash' the shock-waves reverberated throughout house and techno scenes world over. This elaborately garbed, lyrically wild creature scored a direct hit, putting his hometown Chicago back on house music's production map. "I've always been quite shy and introverted in a way," says Jones. "So it was weird getting up on stage and doing the Velvet thing. It's just quite strange that I'm doing what I'm doing now."
Meanwhile Jones had started DJing, playing house and techno under his Cajmere and Green Velvet monikers. Gigs sprang up in far-flung countries where his ultra funky sets, dotted with his own productions, would often be delivered with the synthetic flourish of a lime green Afro wig.
Back in Chicago, Relief fronted Green Velvet's early releases but also played host to a new wave of US producers. Artists like DJ Sneak, Glenn Underground, Gene Farris, Mark Grant and Paul Johnson gained early profile through the label releasing a string of more aggressive, less vocally orientated material. But for Jones in his Velvet guise, it was the vocals that mattered. "I just have to tell my stories," he laughs.
Between 1995 and 1997 Green Velvet made his assault on club charts with a trio of hits — 'Flash', 'The Stalker' and 'Answering Machine' — each with their own side-splitting tale to tell.
In 'Flash' Velvet is a guide escorting a group of nervous camera-weilding parents through 'club bad', showing them all the deviant things their kids get up to. Recorded live, it's a story that Jones made up on the spot, in the recording studio.
'Answering Machine' throws up a succession of answer phone messages bearing bad tidings: a landlord's eviction notice, his girlfriend revealing that her baby's not his and a psychic telling him to "stay in the house, today, tomorrow and forever". It's a song for which he did all the voices himself, complete improvisation, while locked up alone in the studio.
"I just get really obsessive when I'm in that mode," he admits. "I don't eat, I don't sleep. I don't have to do shit. I can just do music. That's it."
It was 'Flash' that appeared as the opening track of the first domestic full-length Green Velvet album, out on US label F-111. The first album proper, 'Constant Chaos', out on Belgian label Music Man in 1999, unleashed Green Velvet in his full, twisted glory, with him marrying normal, everyday occurrences with bizarre phenomena. In 'Abduction' he sings about little green men turning up while he's doing the washing up. "I always look at things in a different way," he says. "I like to see a bit more than the obvious."
By the time 'Constant Chaos' came out Jones had already halted activity on his labels. Still DJing as Cajmere he'd narrowed the Green Velvet persona down to live performances only, taking time out to re-group and work out what to do next.
When he gave Velvet a new hairstyle — from spiked, green foam nodules to yellow mohawk — he wrote a song about it called 'What Happened to Your Hair'.
"I just got bored with it," he shrugs. "I mean good God, I can't keep doing the same shit all the time."
It's Jones' runaway imagination that sits at the core of his Green Velvet productions. The analog synth squelches and jacking beats of his deranged backing tracks sit perfectly with his out-there lyrics. "I just let my imagination go wild," he says. "I try not to analyse it. I'm not into formulating my sound. I just do what I'm feeling."
On the new album 'Whatever', the Velvety one takes this techno punk ethic to the next level, with the whole DIY aspect of the 80s punk movement taking over his music once again.
"I do everything," he says. "I don't have a big major label budget behind me doing all this: getting a wardrobe, picking the songs, etc. I sing the songs, I write the songs. I make the music. I do all of it."
'La La Land' was the first single to be released from new album 'Whatever'. In it Velvet berates "those little pills" that "kill a million brain cells", offering a through-the-keyhole look at modern day clubland antics that while seemingly tongue in cheek, could easily harbour a stringent anti-drugs message. But is the song just a follow up to 'Flash?'
"A lot of people think that 'La La Land' is 'Flash' part two or something, but it's not," he assures. "That track just came out of nowhere." 'La La Land' is meant to be funny, Jones insists, but admits to an indeterminate message. "It's not pro drugs," he says, "and it's not anti, it's just real."
Jones finds music making easy and this album, he says, took just two months to make. If certain tracks are darker than his better-known fodder then it's not because making heavier tunes is a new thing for him. "I just think those darker creations of mine are just not as popular, so people don't know about them," he reasons. "I've always done really black tracks and really white, humourous sort of tracks. That's just life. You have good times and bad times."
The more industrial, punky songs on the album came from hours spent listening to bands like Nitzer Ebb and Liaisons Dangerous, and lots of "underground American industrial stuff".
Initially Jones, as both Cajmere and Green Velvet, received more attention in Europe than he did in America, but over the years things have been picking up for this maverick producer. When this album drops it'll set off bombs over here and Stateside, and who knows what Green Velvet will come up with then? "I don't want to reveal too much," he says coyly. "I just want people to appreciate this now, for what it is." - Excerpts from DJ Mag Issue September 2001.

ROY DAVIS JR
UBIQUITY, UNDERGROUND THERAPY, NICE + SMOOTH
Roy describes his music as "Soul Electrica", the hybrid of soul and electronic music. Others describe it as classic R & B infused with deep, soulful, Chicago-style House. While spinning his own brand of floor-stomping soul for his multitude of fans, Roy Davis jr. has emerged as one of the most requested DJ’s in the world. Between flights, Roy has managed to create a musical catalog of many timeless club anthems; among them "The Believers - Who Dares to Believe in me?" and the genre-defining “Gabrielle”.
Growing up on Chicago's South Side, Davis was turned on at an early age to the sounds of house pioneers like Lil' Louis. Launching his own DJ/production career as part of the Chicago production unit Phuture, Davis began to make a name for himself with singles such as "20 Below." Then came the 90's, and Roy, keeping on point with his cutting edge sound, teamed up with Chicago vocalist Peven Everett and recorded the hit song, "Gabrielle"(Large /XL This track was met with massive radio and club play the world over and sold over 250,00 copies, and has appeared on dozens of compilations including the seminal Desert Island Mix from Gilles Peterson
(Journeys By DJ).
It was the tune that would change his musical direction, as well as take him back to his spiritual roots. As a result of not being able to find available or suitable vocalists for his more spiritual releases, Roy began singing over his productions. After a string of successful dance releases featuring Roy as a solo vocalist, and rave reviews from the press, Roy immediately took his stage show to the next
level, and formed his band, "Soldiers Of Universal Love".
Graduating from deejay to artist, this gave Roy the opportunity to perform his chart topping releases such as "Michael", and "Join His Kingdom", for his fans, and showcase his "Soul Electrica" sound on the road. The ability to perform with a band, and cause massive dance floor overloads around the world is what sets Roy apart from other Dj's and House producers. Roy and the "Soldiers of Universal Love" have performed at many renowned venues, including Club METRO in Chicago to the famous TROUBADOR in Los Angeles and Club Air in Tokyo.
During the beginning of the new Millennium, his reputation as a producer landed him work with major labels such as: Warner Brothers, Sony and MCA doing dance remixes for their top artists. Roy is diversified in the area of production with dozens of remixes including chart-toppers for Underworld, Gus Gus, Eric Benet/Faith Evans, Seal, Morcheeba and Universal's own Hip-Hop Queen, Mary J. Blige. Roy's work is also "No Stranger" to the Billboard Dance charts. His Terry Dexter remix of "Better than me" landed #3, while his most recent remix of Modjo's "Lady", soared to #1. Other honorable mentions in his catalog include "Watch Them Come" (Jazzanova
remix) and the Roule single "Rock Shock" Roy did with Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter, just prior to the label releasing their now infamous hit "Music Sounds Better."
More recently, Davis' full-length album, Traxx from the Nile (2001), stood out for its integrity and earthiness at a time when the North American dance scene was in the grips of the waning ecstasy-fueled British trance movement. The album reflected Davis' spirituality and includes not only his production but vocal work as well. The disc received rave reviews in over 30 publications including RollingStone.com, URB, Flaunt, Vibe, Mixer and many more. In Summer of 2002 Roy Davis Jr and the Soldiers of Universal Love were featured as a headlining act at Montreal's acclaimed 2002 Jazz Festival where they performed to a packed venue. "The wild
evening of entertainment provided by supercharged singer/DJ Roy Davis Jr" was proclaimed by Jazz Festival Senior President and Artistic Director André Ménard to be a highlight and a "particularly moving moment" of last years event. They performed live versions of hits such as "Gabrielle", "Watch Them Come", and several
titles from his March 2003 release on Toronto label NICE+SMOOTH entitled "WATER FOR
THIRSTY CHILDREN".

OJI(Spiritual Journey, Poji Records - Baltimore)
DJ Oji was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He has been a DJ since the early of age of 14, dating back as far as 1984. Being from New York, DJ
Oji has had the rare privilege of having been exposed to "House Music" and many of its legendary DJ's from the very beginning.

We are expecting a HUGE crowd on this night, there will be a couple of lines formed in order to assure a speedy entrance. We'll have the Presale ticket line, and -1-2 door ticket lines. Doors will open 9pm but we'll possibly let people in earlier to mingle/meet & greet on the first floor.

Do you remember when we used to dance?
It was like love at first sight. The sights and sounds instantaneously captivated my heart and soul and drew me in. Once I stepped onto that dancefloor, I never wanted to leave. The music was so on point I easily fell into a groove that I followed all night long, the beats guiding my way on the floor.
You move like they do. I've never seen anyhing so beautiful... do it again so I can get where you are. You were there on some sort of higher state of being. I could see it in your face. And just like that I was there with you and the last thing I remember before my memory fades into a blinding white... my last thought was, "I remember this... it was when dancing was just fun..."
Come join me to find the blinding light at the party of the year... the Gathering @ Love DC.

The music will be there. Will you?

Def can't wait for this! I know a lot of people hate on Love, but this isn't your typical "dresscode" party there. The venue itself is def the best in DC, and I'm sure anyone who hasn't been will agree once they get there and see it.

HOW can you hate on a place called LOVE? Seriously, this is the perfect opportunity for EVERYONE to get the chance to experience what a multi-million dollar mega club is like without the cheesiness. For this one night on NOV 22, it's OUR HOUSE!

It's funny to think about how many times a year you hear someone claiming to be throwing the party of the year, or the hottest party of the season, etc....
the only difference is - THIS REALLY IS THE PARTY OF THE YEAR - but I guess that sort of thing is all up to personal opinion

Curtis Jones IS Cajmere. Green Velvet is Cajmere's alter ego. Cajmere is soulful House. Green Velvet is tech house and some live vocals. Now you know! :birthday2:

I've actually heard him play some bangin tech house under the Cajmere moniker, but either way, this party is gonna rock.

well hon, this is what the POST has to say about our crowd
“This is a crowd that crosses racial, gender and clique boundaries, united by a love of music and a desire to have a good time.” -The Washington Post.....
