Something I would like to see... Dieselboy b2b Evol Intent.

how many other breaks acts do you know that use either "uber" or "zone"

and per the second half, you may be right, but i'm sure it's no shocker that a shit ton use the letter "j" before something else either.

None, but then again I dont listen to breaks often enuff to care

Also I cant think of anyone but J Smooth or J Dub (neither of which has done anything in a long time) who has a "J" in front of their name. Its the same as house/ breaks djs using their full name instead of a dj name...its a common occurance

the full name thing is a common occurance in every genre. that is nowhere near mainly house djs.

Why get offended?, why do you care? , why post in a dnb thread about dnb producers and comment about their names when it has nothing to do with the thread itself?

I think Uberzone is a dumb name, just like Im sure you think some dnb djs/producers names are dumb, this has nothing to do with the thread

i'm not offended in any way at all. and i said nothing about their names being stupid, moreso an observation that many of them seem to have similar names.

Does b2b imply anything besides the DJ's playing one after another? It's a strange phenomenon that I've noticed in DnB over the past year or two - people no longer do "vs" instead now it's always "b2b." Are junglists just trying to spread the plur or what?

No shit, sherlock. Did I say it was anything different? I was simply bringing up the fact that before the last year or two I never saw anybody use the term "b2b." More recently I have noticed that parties have stopped booking "vs" sets and instead there are far more "b2b" sets. I wondered if "b2b" had any other special significance since no other genres use the term.

Excuse me for trying to educate myself. Jesus Christ you junglists need to get laid.

Always thought it meant "back to back," and a lot of old mixtapes I had that were b2b sets were tag teams. But I could see it as two Djs playing sets back to back as well.

I've seen it on fliers for UK events mainly, not just dnb events. So mark it as a cute promotion term.

Funktion is definitely one of the parties I've noticed in the trend. A lot of the smaller parties do this as well, though. MC XYZ has been putting out "back to back sessions" mixtapes that are basically half a mix with one dj, half a mix with another.

based on the way it's used i would say that 'b2b' would mean the same thing as 'vs' two dj's spinning together during a set. i dont think i have ever seen 'b2b' to mean following after the other....

'vs' also used to be used more when you would see two dj's spinning togther at the same time, batle style on 3 or 4 turntables.. where as 'b2b' is a more relaxed, tagging session....

I dont charlie, its just a message board. Just in the heat of the moment reply. Still confused on the true colors thing, as I'd never show any kind of hate to you or any of the positive things you have done with the scene here. If it was a joke I just failed to see the funny innit, chaulk it up as miscommunication. Though I dont like being label a hater even in joke as I dont hate I appreciate. That is unless you tell me to fuck myself or start bullshit with my friends.

...Well I do hate on candyravers and glowsticks but thats another topic altogether.

My head hurts and I've had a long day at work, so excuse my crabbiness.

I never called anyone out by name, I was making a general expression noting the amount of negativity expressed in the thread. Yes, you, Skandar, Brad, etc... there has been exchange of it. Ok, no problem, I'm not a saint either and I'm not passing judgement. However, that still doesn't mean that better attitudes all around couldn't have resulted in a much better outcome between everyone -- that was the basic point I was trying to make. I never told you to fuck yourself or started bullshit with your friends, but if jokingly including you in a group of 'haterz' (complete with comical z, because I am one of those grammar nazis) makes you feel that way, I'll refrain from doing it in the future as I'm not posting to invoke any sort of negative reaction from anyone -- I'm just trying to lighten up the mood a little in hopes that you guys will be a little more civil to each other.

If you're ever not sure if I'm joking about something, please email or PM me before jumping to a conclusion. I promise, I'll give you an honest explanation.

:charly: out.

Whats a short DJ set though... I think 45minute back to Back is ok. A great DJ can get 16-20 tracks into a 45 minute set.

Any DJ worth seeing is worth seeing for longer than 45 minutes. To me it's not about the number of records spun, it's about the DJ getting me into a groove. With a 30-45 minute set as soon as I reach that groove, the DJ is done.

I don't get it. There's no need for promoters, dj's, enthusiats, whomeverthefuck, to get so up in arms over naming gimmicks in their respective genres, let alone within the same genre. That only tears groups apart, which is the last thing the DC/Bmore scene needs.

Nah, actually I'd like to think I'm good person. I dont take any shit from anybody, not online or in person. I'm not one to shy away from any confrontation. I deal with it right then in the moment. I've been in dnb for a real long time, 12 years. I have dealt with my fair share of people that show no respect and that have nothing better to do then to try to one up a person. I've spent the last 5 years of my life, dedicating every second I have to Flatline Audio. Countless hours, and years of being broke to do what I have for the record label. I have over 80 tunes signed to my label. After years of dedication, and countless run ins with jaded people, I just dont care about feelings or peoples opinions of me. If this is viewed as me being in a bad mood then so be it. Bit judgemental on your part to make that assumption when you dont even know me. I've given my entire life for dnb. Its not aparttime hobby for me, its my job. Ive quit work so I can focus on Drum N Bass, and now my record label is close to its 7 & 8th release, and I'm damn proud of it. Let alone the first Drum Ritual was just massive, but I better not mention that or someone is likely to cry about it. I've done my part to help the scene in dnb. Something most these people who talk shit can never come close to contribute. I post in 70 different message boards daily pushing my record label. So I've become numb to the "real haters" who talk shit but have no clue to any merit of what they talk about. Ive put years into my record label emma. I say what I feel, and worry about the repercussions later. I dont do any dirt to anyone. I'm not fucused on peoples opinions of myself or an online image for that matter. I dont purposely try to be a prick to anyone. Sometimes you just have to give the middle finger, and like I said, worry about the reprecussions later. I dont regret my actions, they have gotten me to where I am today. I alway treat people with respect unless they provoke me other wise.

Anyways who's up in arms over naming gimmicks... certainly not me.

i do see your point, but as a promoter, having a little diplomacy instead of jumping down people's throats will go along way. you may not care about feelings or peoples opinions of you, but as a promoter or a representative of something, the 'bad mood' emma refers to will hurt what you have been working so hard to create.

OH THE IRONY

Being told by a person named Bitch, that I'm in a bad mood too often on the message board, and pointers on how to run my label and monthy.

Well we'll see if my attitude affect things. I know I'm not changing for anybody. This is who I am. I'm not gonna front and kiss nobodies ass. Its gotten me this far. LoL in a bad mood, I dont get it. What cause I'm willing to cuss people and ain't affraid to speak my mind. If people dont like it, then sit on haybarrels and watch. Flatline Audio is here. Drum Ritual is here. And it aint going anywhere. I offer the best DJs in DNB at my parties, and if it caters to only a hundred of my friends, then who cares, so be it. My label has tunes from the very cream of the crops producers: Stakka, Corrupt Souls, Sinthetix, Pyro, Masheen, Robot Death Squad, ICR, ASC, DJ Hidden, NC-17. 6 records are dropping this half of the year alone. My records are selling over a 1000 units. The 'bad mood' emma will hurt me is your opinion, because I know exactly who I am, and who I have to be, in order to have created what I've worked so hard to put together. Not taking the piss, but I'm not changing on the count of 3 0r 4 people or even 150 -500, I am who I am, Like it or Don't. Thankxs for your input though.

so is a "versus" any different than a "b2b"? is a versus set more of a oneupsman ship thing?

A2M :afterbuzz:

A2M is a serious problem. As of this very moment, there are probably only 100 people in America who are enjoying A2M(excluding the prison population). Mostly because they are just uneducated about A2M, scared of it, or just grossed out by the whole idea.
We need more people here in america whom are willing and able to go A2M.
That would make the world a much nicer place.

*monoxide does not advocate A2M, try at your own risk. monoxide can not be held liable for any adverse actions of effects that happen due to A2M.

It tells a lot about a person if they know what it means doesnt it?

I LOLed at the part where Jay did the scene from Silence of the Lambs.

Once in a while, it IS acceptable in the heat of passion, after all.

Funny, I came in this thread to bring up this question. One little comment (that I still stand by) and HOLY FUCKING DnB EXPLOSIVE DIARRHEA.

Glad I've finally gotten my answer: nobody has any clue.

vs. in hip-hop = a battle
vs. in dnb (99% of the time) = tagging
b2b in dnb (99% of the time) = tagging

i have old UK mixes also that say Bryan Gee b2b Ray Keith etc. it's because they were tagging.

that doesnt make sense, but at the same time, what i thought as well.

I would have guessed that "vs" was tagging 3's (or however many) while b2b was two short sets, back-to-back - as someone said earlier, a way of fitting more DJ's on the bill while giving each their own "set."
