Delivery is always insane on any holiday weekend. Last night was rediculously hot. We polished off two bottles of wine in 2 hours. I highly recommend the wines there. Most are Spanish, and John knows his shit in picking em.

We have SCHLiTZ to thank for that one.

Last night was hell. The tables wern't hooked up and ready to go when I got there, there was a nasty short because of their 500 disc CD player that played EL Zol types of BS, so the sound was crap and I trainwrecked 5 or 6 times because I couldn't hear anything correctly for the first 45 minutes....

After I figured out what was wrong and got it together, I played a rocking drum and bass set after my breaks set went to shit.

It was embarrassing, but I'm over it. I drank 3 long island iced teas, so I felt fucking fantastic by the time I left.

I'd do it again if they asked :)

I'm confused.
You say that you're over it, yet you come in here and rant about how bad the night was, only to follow up with "I'd do it again if they asked."
I'm not trying to be a dick, but publicly trashing the venue is a surefire way of not being asked back.
You could've handled this much more discreetly by having this discussion with Tova in private.
And in the future, you have to always assume that opening slots are going to run into technical difficulties.
Make it a point to get there with enough time to sort out these issues before you go on.

Little side note...

The system there is always jacked up somehow... :gtfo: Bitching is just natural, I do it myself every freaking time I play there. This is also not new to anybody, the decks, the mixer, the amps, the speakers and subs have all on any given night crashed and burned. Hell, I've had my headphone jack rip off in the mixer and Josh and I spun the rest of the night without headphones...

Either way, Delivery is always a blast to play, all be it a challenge...

I dont take mr. surelocks comments very harsh, its human to be disappointed when the set up deturs you from not playing as well as you could. Not that my opinion from florida matters in the least...

Anyhow, more arguing!!! ENTERTAIN ME DAMNIT:ez:

mixing without headphones is the only way to go!

I talked to Colby on Sunday, and I will be returning to play on October 29th. I'm taking a break from my vacation. I just can't stay away from djing. Halloween comes early for those that know the deal. Get hyped! Plan your costumes. I may come as the evil dj from Zoolander. We'll see.

As far as the equipment goes...you have to know the little nuances of the system there. To get the bass to work, just turn it on and off for 20 minutes and it'll work. Never tighten the needles too much on the tonearms, or they won't come in both channels. Put the monitor as loud as it can go without distortion, and get used to it. Please Jeebus rock it fierce. If you aren't sweating heavily during your set, then you aren't trying enough!

The opening set there is KEY to the rest of the night. Otherwise everyone will just chill downstairs and drink themselves silly. You gotta lure them upstairs and then not let them leave.

And in the future, you have to always assume that opening slots are going to run into technical difficulties.
Make it a point to get there with enough time to sort out these issues before you go on.

This was the first time I played at a club where I had to hook up their equipment and I've played a couple shady spots in my 8 years of DJing. Probably the only time I'll ever have to do it. If I'm hooking up stuff, it's my own because I brought it.

If I would have known that I'd have to do hook up their stuff I would have came earlier to do it. Instead 40 minutes of my set time was spent trying to figure out stuff that I shouldn't have had to worry about. On top of that, no monitors = trainwreck city. Not trying to sound like a dick, but if it was my club I wouldn't expect the opener to spend a chunk of his set time trying to figure out my sound issues. DJ's walk when stupid shit like that happens.

So please don't make me feel bad for bitching when I should be. I'm not gonna lie and say it was the best gig ever, because it wasn't. I should have told the guy who was behind the decks when I got there to take care of hooking up his stuff before I got on. I'm guessing he worked for Sky Lounge and I'm guessing he knew what was going on with their stuff.

But I'm not bitching. It was embarrassing, but I'm over it and I'd play their again if they asked. I'd just make sure I got there early to see if their stuff was hooked up. It could have been a great night of breaks and drum and bass, but instead it was a night of "oops" , POPS, "sorry"s, a little breaks and drum and bass. Yuck.

Sorry I said something that offended anyone.
