In case you were wondering what to expect from the artshow this Saturday......

A Propergander_C. Devin Byrnes

Take a proper gander into the art that surrounds us. On your way to
work you might see a weathered and torn cluster of advertisements. I
see an unexpected composition built by time and chance.

The art show of our streets has no elitism or hype. This exhibit is on
some of the best walls a town has to offer, and nobody is put off by
the price of admission. But these pieces are temporary. They're taken
down, painted over and treated as trash.

The people that run our city don't understand this because they don't
think anything has the right to exist unless it makes a profit. The
people that truly deface your neighborhood are the companies that slap
their slogans all over it. They expect to be able to shout their
corporate messages in your face every chance they get.

I prefer to enjoy the streets without being told how to.

Night Sun_Josh Sullivan

Life cluttered by day becomes clear and concise by its end.

Simplicity, a glass vessel to understanding, brings minds closer to the concept.

A street lamp, this is my sun. Under the night's lamps there is peace,
solitude, and truth. As a moth to a lamp, the world at rest attracts
me.

Here are the bios for this week's DJs....

C. Devin Byrnes and Shwa of EXIT ONLY

You might know the duo of C. Devin Byrnes and Shwa of EXIT ONLY from
their residency at Sonar. Or maybe you bought their Destination EP on
the label Analog Anonymous. No? Well, maybe you heard their remix of
Johnny Fiasco's Soundz that won first prize in Uniform Recording's
international remix contest. Or maybe you've just heard them play out
at some of your favorite venues. Either way, these two are fast
becoming a staple in the House music community and are known for
bringing excitement to the table and movement to the dance floor. Come
prepared to party.

Rich Edward | dirtysugar.net

A musician since age 5, a DJ since 21, Rich was born with a music staff in his hand. Allowed to eat nothing but treble cleffs and bass notes since he was a toddler, he has been classically trained on piano and is a guitar phenom. Taking the skills to the tables, Rich spins an eclectic style that shows his love of all house music. Techy, funky, deep and bumpy, Rich knows how to move a crowd with his buildups and breakdowns. Feared by dance floors and liquor stores alike, Rich can make the floor move.

Shane Camp | OmniPresent Syndicate

Our resident house specialist at Gallery, Shane Camp, has been on a steady course towards the top of the game in the DC House scene for the past few years. Having played opening gigs for the likes of Roy Davis Jr., Gene Farris, John Howard, Kenny Glasgow, Paul Johnson, & Sneak just to name a few - Shane has been recognized as a force to be reckoned with in the booth. Don't let his "nice guy" personality fool you, this man has enough weapons up his sleeves to make Hezbollah seem like a group of peace-lovin, granola-eatin, hemp braiding, tree-huggers! Twisted Evil

here's the run down on the tarrace/alley for this Saturday....

Courtesy of 88 Music

Cutting Edge Tunes, Great Atmosphere, Good peeps and Cheap drinks...what more could you want *..* SPIN magazine described 88's parties as one of the 100 best in the nation, "Featuring underground electronic sounds and hot-and-weird patrons". We like Hot and Weird. The summer happening of the year keeps on going. 88 music is proud to present another daylight dub sessions party with a curated sound focused on providing the event goer with laid back summer vibes that tantalize the ear drums and evoke smiles on the best 4 speaker sound system money can buy. We aim to toast the roots of dub and the musicians that are pushing the 'summer sound' envelope. This week, come out and join area selector: Deyv 4-7pm followed by long time area DJ Electronkind as he focuses on cutting edge chill-out and psy-dub. The event will take place on the 5,000sqft. outdoor terrace of the Gallery Restaurant and Lounge located in SoPo Silver Spring. The terrace, with vistas of downtown Silver Spring and an environment surrounded by early 1900 chimney's provides the ultimate backdrop for an outdoor urban party serving exquisite Latin/Carribean dinning and drinks. Bring your sunglasses, tank tops, sketch books, cards, chess boards and lap tops. We're chillin all day, free wireless internet as you sip Gallery's famous Mojitos! Link up with David for a free desset card with the purchase of any entre. In the Alley this week, Aligning Minds will be presenting a two-person live p.a. of their latest original productions, ranging from idm and downtempo to a touch of soulful drum n' bass! Melodic, bass heavy and intricate productions are what these guys consistently deliver. Never content to stick to just one style, you can expect a varied output, keeping listeners .guessing. Join them in their exciting, live mission exploring sonic possibilities while resident VJ Metaphreaq tantalizes you with visual candy. You make this event happen! Thanks for the continued support *..*

I hope some people will be able to come out and catch a bit of Dale, Elektronkid's set. He plays some wicked futuristic Dub here's a bit:
http://elektronkind.org/mixfiles/Elektronkind_-_Bag_o_Dub.mp3

Recorded during an Expansion Broadcast set, focused on Dub.

Aligning Minds, later on in the night, will be playing a 3 hour set. It's rare to find a 2 person Live PA act that can properly play/create in multiple genres.

DON'T SLEEP ON THE 88 MUSIC TERRACE & ALLEY - THESE GUYS KNOW THEIR SHYTE!

This was a great night out! Exit always rocks it, and the juggling bartenders were pure entertainment (Think the movie Cocktail).

Aligning Minds was totally a special treat, on the patio.
