THis might be a bit weird but anyone know if you can bring kids? We used to live in Japan and Europe where kids are more than welcome at the outdoor parties. How about the States?
it says all ages.
i'm not a promoter for this party, i'm just hyping it because i have friends playing. and its a field party.
how olld are your kids? i mean - i, for one, wouldnt bring an 8 year old to a rave.

2 and 4... it is very common overseas and they have been to many of them. Just wasn't sure about over here. First time living in the states.
My hubby and I could use a good party and we are HUGE fans of all the headliners ;)

I'm with Beth.
I suppose MAYBE taking them to a daytime event would be acceptable but taking a 2 and 4 year old to an outdoor "rave" from 9pm til 7am sounds INSANE, to be quite honest.

It is quite customary in the UK to take children to these types of events. It is possible that she didn't know it was overnight, as most events like this in the UK are NOT overnight, but day long events.

Other than Starscape, I've never been to a REAL outdoor party like this one, sounds very interesting! :-) I wasn't sure if I wanted to go by myself or not, but a carpool definitely. I'm sure we can arrange something - where exactly is Germantown, MD, in relation to Fairfax, VA? Let me know...

Germantown is in Montgomery County, its up 270 north heading toward Fredric, Id say you are lookin about 45-60 minute drive.

It says to bring the flyer because its mandatory to get in, does each person in your group need a flyer?
and is the citgo ok with hundreds of cars rolling in to get directions to a rave?
sounds a little funny, why cant they just give directions to the party like most field parties, guess there trying to keep this one underground

I imagine the Citgo will be closed, or shut down, or they've already gotten permission to do this. I like the idea, it sounds exciting.
this checkpoint better be in full effect all night, and not castaway style.
With my luck the dude at the Citgo station is gonna be major faded and forget where the place is......

Yeah, I've never actually been to the Citgo but the area is VERY rural, and most of the gas stations in BFE out there close down VERY early, like sundown. Everyone will probably begin showing up right after it closes for the evening.
just saw a flyer for this.
Me and the Deast will hit this up for sure.

I think the gas station is freaking some people out.. but I'm sure they will have people there all night.. switching off every hour or so or something.. else people would be PISSED. I'm planning on going to this and am looking forward to it very much! I found out about it from a flyer handed to me leaving the closing party at nation, so I hope it will be something I can remember like the closing party :-D

Cannot wait for this! Sounds awesome. Terry Mullan and Monk! Yeah! Moved from RVA to Colorado and lived there for years. CO has plenty of outdoor parties and I go to Burning Man each year, so this is my style! As for the check point, didnt some of you used to do that years ago? I always loved it.
The only problem is this. With 2500 people in rural VA, just use your heads peeps. If there are 50 cars parked to get tickets, just drive by and come back when its a little clearer. We dont need to make a big epicentre of ravers.
Also, if (and I dont suspect it will) the party gets shut down, just listen to the cops and walk away. It's not like you need to run, scream, or cuss at them. It only causes trouble for the promoters. Stay in your car until you are completely clean and permitted to leave. That way, when the cops pull random people down the road you will be perfectly prestine. If that happens, make sure you always stay with a friend if near a cop. Just walk out together.
If the event goes off without a hitch, it will be awesome! Never been to an outdoor event in VA except old Ultraworld parties. This one should be in a great location to go off hitchless, but you can never underestimate redneck cops. I would know since I grew up in Powhatan, and am here while visiting VA.
Just use your brains and all is good if the cops come to "sight see". Often they are cool with the event and often they are not, but either way you wont get in trouble unless you are doing something wrong.

Stoked to see Terry Mullan and Monk! I do not know any of your guys either so might be nice to meet some people. Pretty boring in rural VA when you know no one!

I'm not sure but it's probably just a field one of the people throwing the event owns. I would be willing to bet there havn't been parties there in the past.
How about everyone meet up at 11pm around the front gate?
Deast
2006-08-06, 03:54 AM
Thats always a decent plan, though maybe not exactly the front gate as that will be slammed I'm sure.
Could always say "20 feet past the front gate" or 50 or whatever, figure out a good way to draw attention to the meet too, since otherwise it's hard to pick people out, per-se.

checked out the location yesterday. After that I am def looking forward to throwin' down under the stars on Sat.
There will be plenty of restroom facilities, refreshments, alchoholic beverages, good sound, good talent, ample parking. There is very limited cell phone reception that far out. Tons of room for everyone to camp out and have a good time. See everyone next weekend.
also tune into 97.3FM when you hit Richmond. Danny the Wildchild will be the guest DJ on the Saturday night Turntable Sessions from 9-11 (all dance music from 7pm - 3am, always live and always analog)..provided by TURNSTYLE.

I suppose MAYBE taking them to a daytime event would be acceptable but taking a 2 and 4 year old to an outdoor "rave" from 9pm til 7am sounds INSANE, to be quite honest.

It says to bring the flyer because its mandatory to get in, does each person in your group need a flyer?
and is the citgo ok with hundreds of cars rolling in to get directions to a rave?
sounds a little funny, why cant they just give directions to the party like most field parties, guess there trying to keep this one underground
also wondering the same shit. I'm still laughing at the fact this is in CC county. christ. literally. he lives there.

Just talked to the guy.
It IS 18+. However, he told me if I was willing to sign a waiver taking responsibility for all of my brother's actions while there, then they would let him in.
He said he'd print up some and have em at the gate, so Terry, that looks like our only option.
But, according to "dude", "We are trying to avoid the under 18 crowd for legal reasons". He seemed very cool with the waiver option though.

Indeed.
Its what is stated on Groove tickets that matters. If they say 18+ at the door, then its 18+. Its up to the promoters and they dont have to take your money and let you in, so I would not try it. LOL People are just going to say "I told you so!"

That's good that he was cool with everything, and didn't act like an ass, but at the same time SOMEONE needs to get their shit together. When I took my friend to Kulture yesterday to get her ticket the guy working there didn't even know how much they were supposed to cost, so we told him, waited around for a few, then I guess he decided he had no other choice but to believe us if he wanted to sell the ticket. Good thing we're honest...
Also, if you are selling tickets that clearly say 'ALL AGES!' then, either the tickets, or groovetickets needs to be corrected.
While none of this really affects me, it's just, unprofessional, and slightly annoying.
