you know, maybe it's just me... but what John B does is fairly unique... While it may not be your bag, one would think you should at least respect his originality instead of looking for something from him that dozens of other dnb djs already do...

:werd: i'm with you on that. his sets are actually musically stimulating, they're not so all-one-level as some dnb sets that i hear...like they're more playful and varient.
although the guy himself is an ass.

john b is a marketing genius, not sure after re-reading the thread that anyone is disrespecting the fact that john b is 100% original with what he does...
it would prob be the same as you not wanting to hear dnb (even if it was the genres's most original and talented) all night instead of electro.

right, but I wouldn't go saying "I'll be disappointed" if a dnb dj was spinning electro... even if he used to spin electro.... especially if it's a general switch he's made for what? 3? 4 years now?

I would go saying "I'll be disappointed" if a dj I liked spun a different genre other than the one I originally cared for.
Kinda like Brad/Holiday when he switched from HHC to dnb...
It's an opinion, don't worry about it.
Also, this thread starter sucks. Hey, thread starter - next time you want to make 75 posts for your own avatar, how about you try talking in the already open threads instead of starting lots of other lame ones?
Just my two cents...

maybe "disrespect" was the wrong term...
it's just sort of like... if you're going to be disappointed by a DJ doing what he's been doing for several years... well, you're gonna be disappointed a LOT in life...
tangentially... funniest shit I've seen today:

ehhh, i just see most of your posts generally hating on any form of dnb - unless its john b. so when you say people should respect him just because of his accomplishments it makes me think the same thing about you with most dnb producers / djs.
no disrespect at all spiggy - not trying to get into some internet flaming drama fest just sharing my opinion.

I like John B for one thing:
Making all the junglists whine. I remember on dcdnb, about 5 years ago, someone posts a link to the video for John B's "American Girls". The fucking thing is CLEARLY supposed to be tongue-in-cheek and the first response to the thread is, "John B has fallen off."
followed by "I'm writing him off. I will never buy another thing of his again."
On a side note, can I run up and tackle his hair? I'm convinced it's a toupee.

I agree that its overrated, but some people dig it. Personally I can't stand electro dnb. John B used to be one of my fav dnb producers. All of his stuff had soul and funk to em. Whatever tho he moved on to his (and other electro snobs) opinion, bigger and better things. Good for him. I know where I will be when he's on this friday.

i can't deal with a whole set of electro step. i love stalking you on myspace though. it's funny, and production is solid. i dig the musicality of it as well.
i'd be disappointed if john b stopped experimenting for the sake of popularity.
