View Full Version : A Challenge to any artists out there...

I need some assistance. For years, I've been trying to find someone who could accurately depict what it is I want designed for my Half-Sleeve tattoo for my left arm. So, I figured I'd throw it out to the floor and see if any of the artists here could pull it off or might know someone capable of doing it.
This is what I'm looking for:
Based off of this picture -
http://www.mcescher.com/Gallery/symmetry-bmp/E25.jpg
It's Periodic Piece E25 by M.C. Escher.
Basically what I'm looking for is someone who can come up with a modification of this pattern.

So that instead of being interlocking lizards, it is instead interlocking bears. It needs to be able to be designed so that it can be tattoo'd on as a half-bicep sleeve, as well as moving onto the pectoral region in a descending pattern.
Anybody out there that can help me? I know it's a challenge and honestly I'm willing to pay at this point. At the very least, buy a drink for whoever can help me out.
HALP! I really want my damn ink done.

Addendum:
1.) It only needs to be grayscale, as the tattoo will be black, white, and gray.
2.) I would be willing to pay extra or give mad extra props is the design inside of each bear was done in the NorthWestern Indian style. Similar to:

However, I'll try and find a better picture of what I'm refering to later.

Awesome. Thanks. I'm trying to go for a size/sleeve pattern similar to yours, cept I want it to cover my whole pec and be intergrated with the half-sleeve.

Why not bring that to your tattoo artist and let him know what you want done? Then have him draw up a sketch

Because I have done that before and nobody thus far has been willing or able to take up the charge.
Grizz... I think I've actually got something for you... lemme clean up and digitize my sketch and I'll post it here when I'm done... probably tonight...

Cool dude...that's awesome. Thanks a lot. Really looking forward to seeing what you've done.
because I've only had time to do some preliminary work on it, I'll show you what I'm thinking, see if I'm on the right track... I managed to create a decent tesselation using a PacNW native style, but it's non-rotating, so it's not exactly like the lizard example...not so talented as Escher, I'm afraid...but doing the math was fun...

In the middle you can see the tribal image that I'm using as my guide... Ultimately, what you see now as yellow outlines will be filled in with all/most of that design detail... If this isn't what you're wanting, lemme know, and I'll call off the dogs... if it is, I'll work on it some more... hopefully have it done in the next day or so...

hahahaha.. i wanna know whats on the bottom of the bear looking thingy's ass...
i mean .. i guess thats a tail in the middle.. but daaaaaaaaaaaaaamnn.. gots some tumors or something else hangin down there...
real bad hemmroids? or something
that totem revolves around a legend about a grizzly marrying a human and her giving birth to twin cubs... the face at the bottom is the human woman. The twin cubs are in the torso of the grizzly...
Grizz, lemme know if that impacts your decision to use this totem...

I still think you need to find a really good tattoo artist to draw this. I know you said you have tried in the past but have had no luck. There is a pretty amazing shop in atlanta called all or nothing. My tattoo artist is there among other great artists. Now of course i dont think you would go to atlanta but Im sure they could draw what you wanted for an artisit in this area.
