I agree somewhat. i think the style has been emulated and been improved on as a whole over the past several years, to some degree making it so more people can do it well but w/o much level of differentiation in the works from one artist to another.
But i have found that some artists go the extra mile (or maybe it just comes naturally to them) to put their own little touch on the style, making their pieces recognizable amongst works of a similar style by other artists.

polaus is this one guy... i can pretty much recognize and identify his stuff by his style of doing these type of things.

LOGO can you do any art like this?

(I've never seen any of your stuff b/c it gets blocked for me at work)

Oh, I'm not denying the sweetness, I'm just saying that this explosive, chaotic, big-bang-ish digital style needs more innovators and fewer imitators.
It needs to evolve past its current point.

Liftedtrance

the touch that makes this one particularly stand out to me is the addition of the grafiti stuff in the lower left hand corner. i like that and think it makes it more unique.

I don't have 3-D modeling software with which to create these types of illustrations.
I do more flat, line-art type of illustrations.
So, I wonder why my artwork is blocked at your job?
Can you view it at home?

Actually, I do like the fact that he's three-dimensionalized the graff.
It's unique.

not without das intarweb (not online at home)
and its probably blocked here b/c anything with "personal storage" or anything like that gets blocked.

anything interesting you care to email to me? ( i can get it that way when i'm here)

If you want to check out someone who's doing some very interesting things with Graff-style art, check Kinsey. (http://www.kinseyvisual.com/)

Also, if you have some time to kill, check out what happens when very forward-thinking graff artists play on the internet:

Its all chaotic organic 3D rendered objects with layer transparencies and photoshop filters. Most of these things are sold on bundle CDs as layered Photoshop files. Sort of like stock photos.

I agree that they look badass and it takes an amount of talent to make them, but like Logo said....not enough innovators. Id like to see these guys do something different. There are a few that stand out for certain personal asthetic reasons of mine but this style has been done to death and its almost impossible to tell one artist from another. Everything like this ends up looking like a desktop wallpaper.

i hear ya, i do.

to some degree i agree with you, but i wouldnt go as far to say that its almost impossible to tell one artist from another. i've seen guys do this type of work with their own style that makes it distinguishable from others artist's work of a similar type.
things about the layout, renders, colors, themes, combing photography with the digital art... i dunno, i feel like i notice the differences in styles and see innovations being made (nothing necessarily profound, but still)

but i digress, you guys know more about this than i do, and understand it on a level deeper than i do. i'm just talking about how i see it. :D

I don't get the appeal. I love the colors, but like others have said- it seems these types of designs are a dime a dozen. But hey, at least it didn't have arbitrary vector drips all over the place.
