I finally bought a new camera.. got a good deal on canon rebel xt digital slr. http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=ModelDetailAct&fcategoryid=139&modelid=11154 :woot:
I was majorly frustrated with the camera I had been using for the last couple of years, but couldnt see spending the 1,000 for the camera I wanted. It was good for what it was, but I had to photoshop the hell out of the majority of the shots just to get much of anything worth showing. Really had me not wanting to even shoot anymore.
I'm still figuring the xt out.. there's tons of settings. Here's some pictures I took around the house while figuring it out. These are just test shots.. so dont jump on me about lighting... composition etc. :D

Awesome.
I can't wait until Christmas to open up my new Digital Camera. :affection:
Have fun learning the 10 million functions. I have a Canon Rebel T2 35mm SLR, and the manual is freakin' huge. I bet the manual for it's digital cousin is 3 times bigger.

Oh word.
The manual isnt too big.
The camera has "basic zone" and "creative zone" settings. The ones in the basic zone mode are automatic settings.. auto aperature.. auto shutter time.. etc. The creative zone is all the modes that allow manual adjusting.
Need to run out and pick up a tripod today. http://dungpow.com/board/html/emoticons/1085684655photo.gif

Nice. Make sure you get yourself a nice wide lens if you plan on bringing that into clubs. It makes a big difference when you have a lot of people around you and you don't have much space to work with.

Same as the Rebel then.
Tripod wise, check out Ritz Camera. They have this one travel model that you can carry around in a little pack and can be used as a desktop tripod. But then stretches out to be a tall one with the twisting the legs in and out of lock position. I think it was only $59 too...
*edit*
I think this (http://www.ritzcamera.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&productId=13233206) is the model.

ha! yeah, there is only so far you can backup sometimes. I wish I had an SLR too, but I think my camera is fancy enough.

I was just there.. but wasnt sure which one to drop loot on. I defnitely want something that I can carry around easily. I ended up buying a uv lens to help with uv and to protect the lens.. and a camera cleaning kit. Thanks for the info!

word.. thanks for the tip! I'll look around and see if I can find a good deal somewhere. :)
I pulled a smart move today.. I drove all the way into the city to shoot around... once I got there I realized.. I forgot my memory card. doh! :D

Yeah, the UV filters are key.
One of my professors explained how one saved his Nikon once when he dropped it off a second story rack in a warehouse once. Great shock absorbers.
