Just out of curiosity, how many people here are/were involved in some sort of community theatre?

Eventually i'm gonna be back up in that general direction and i'd love to get involved in some sort of tech work again. Anyone have a group that they work/have worked with that they like a lot? any to avoid?

i took three years of theatre arts in high school.
i was in a play called "Requiem" and my role was Death.
I was Kenicke in "Grease".
I was Benvolio in "Romeo + Juliet".
All my other roles were bunk.

I never got any decent roles while i was in school. it was bullshit. i was so fucking close to getting titania in MSND but was turned down for it because one of my teachers lied to my theatre prof and said i was failing.

But i ended up doing an assload of set design, set constructions, light design, stage managing, sound design/run, and i did costuming once (never ever again). I was a shitty stage manager though, i'm not organized.

i never tried out for any school plays even though i was really considering auditioning for les miserables during my senior year ( didn't have the time to devote though ), but i've taken theatre classes throughout high school and what not and somehow no matter which people i was assigned to act with we always gelled and it was a lot of fun for me...

we'll see what happens in college though.

ITS lifetime member.
Matt in the Fantastics.
Vince Fontaine in grease.
farmboy in fiddler on the roof
the prince in the King and I.
Simon in the caucsain chalk circle.
winthrop in the music man.
the president in the mouse that roared.

Halfway through college I got really bored with theater and started studying business and economics. I do miss being on stage a lot though, it's such a rush. For while I have been meaning to check out a Washington Improv Theater show, they've been written up i the post a couple of times.

I made a video in high school. Romeo and Juliet. It was a funny misrepresentation of the play by Shakespeare.
