DJ FRICTION [ Valve | Shogun Audio ] - UK **5DNB DEBUT**

At the age of 27, Brighton raised Friction is without a doubt one of the most talented DJ-Producers to make a significant impact in Drum & Bass in recent years. With more heads hearing of his skills and tracks like the massive 'Robocop' and 'Electrolux' smashing dance-floors worldwide 2003 saw Friction win Knowledge magazines 'Best Breakthrough' award. Things were rounded off with a link up to Dillinja and Lemon D's Valve Recordings and the launch of his own label 'Shogun Audio'. He is now regarded as one of the scenes front running DJ's alongside names like Andy C, Zinc, Hype and Mampi Swift and also regularly demonstrates his skills to a global audience via BBC 1Xtra on his fortnightly 'Mix Show'. Last year saw Friction hit success in the CD market with the massive 'Bingo Sessions Vol.1' CD mixed alongside DJ Zinc which actually graced the UK album charts. MAKOTO w/ DEEIZM MC [ Human Elements | GLO ] - JAPAN **5DNB DEBUT**

Makoto is currently proving himself to be one of the more diverse and promising unknown elements in Good Looking's musical repertoire. Two funk filled tracks appeared on the Earth 4 compilation in the shape of "Extensions of Life" and "Peace of Mind", with "You're Divine" appearing on Earth 5 and getting an exclusive release in Japan. On the Drum'n'Bass front the Progression Sessions series continues to feature many of his tracks. It seems that no matter what type of set Bukem plays, be it Drum'n'Bass, Down tempo or House your sure to find a Dub with Makoto's name on it. It is "with the feeling of soul and jazz in mind" that Makoto creates music. He believes in the need to maintain a human feel in Music.

Shelley aka Deeizm is a talented up and coming vocalist whose talent extends much further than simply vocalisation. After six years in the music industry, Shelley finally has her own studio and is signed exclusively to the Good Looking Organisation, MC’ing for Makoto as well as guest DJ’s at Progression Sessions. glad i stayed sober (more or less) for this one. didn't get there in time to catch greg & blanco, but makoto definitely got the party nice & warmed up for friction to come on.

once friction started - it was over. done. i have yet to hear a drum&bass DJ play that good at five (this includes andy c), and probably never will again (unless he comes back). there was no room for standing on the dancefloor, if you weren't dancing you probably caught an elbow to the jugular. such fucking sick tunes thrown down by friction!!! including a remix of jonny L's "selecta", which i'm told is by break. yes, i said it. break. double dropping "the pulse" out of nowhere, and so many other countless tricks he pulled that night. fuck.

Party on Wednesday did kick ass. Had fun listening to good quality music but I had no idea all night who was spinning. I mean, I knew who was spinning that night but didn't pay attention to who was spinning at any particular time. Oh, and edan was awesome as well. Quality tech house from a quality dj.

Oh, and just for athena, I wasn't cooking a whole ham, just some leftover ham that I had, You BIG GAY AL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The party vibes were off the hook. Seeing all the local dc promoters, dj's, producers, nutone, martyn, new faces, old faces all i can say is WOW! it's truly a great time imho for the music and city. Bobby Jae threw down a great set as always, Makoto really blew me away and i was really impressed by Deezim! For a vocalist she came across very well and i'm not usually a big fan of that style couch "tali"

But the highlight of was by far Dj Friction! Got to spend a few minutes watchin this man mix and everyone was just kinda staring in awe. To watch someone just toss records on the platter double drop and beat match like it was riding bike is a site to truly be seen! There's few dj's that are in this man league and if you missed out you better hope upfront brings him back real soon! On another note he dropped some new Calyx thing that was the jam. i think i heard Calyx play this one as well i will find out the track soon!
