Martyn - REVOLVE:R/SOUL:R, PLAY MUSIK - HOLLAND
http://myspace-973.vo.llnwd.net/00270/37/90/270400973_l.jpg
In the early Nineties, Martyn Deykers got seriously involved in music through his love for hiphop and house/techno out of Chicago & Detroit. When exposed to drum & bass in 1995, he was destined to take things further musically and he began to lay the foundations of his career as a DJ, producer and promoter. As a founding member of the Red Zone collective, Martyn brought the city of Eindhoven (Holland) a range of quality drum & bass nights, as a resident DJ alongside DJs Nymfo, Pressure & MC Jay. Since their inception in 1996 & subsequent growth into bigger venues in 1998, Red Zone events have become amongst the most influential d&b nights on the continent, and nominated for Best Night at the Dutch DNB Awards…… 3 years in a row no less.
As well as promoting, Martyn has established himself as a DJ under the alias DJ Pan. Over the years, he has played at a wide range of venues in the Netherlands as well as abroad (UK, USA, Germany, Hungary, Norway, Belgium, Luxemburg, France), not forgetting his various radio appearances such as BBC 1Xtra, Kool FM London, Studio Brussels (Belgian national radio), 3Voor12 (Dutch national radio) and his “Inside the Red Zone” shows on www.bassdrive.com
Martyn’s vision of d&b as an advanced & futureproof musical form is being realised through both his DJ & production work and is evident in his ability to utilise any outside musical influences & sounds that move him & encompass them in his productions. 2005 marks an important stage in Martyn’s career: he continues to DJ worldwide & promote his Red Zone events and his music is receiving healthy rotation by well respected d&b DJs such as Fabio, Grooverider, Digital, Flight, Storm, Calyx, Teebee, Friction, Marcus Intalex, Lee, Fierce & D-Bridge on various radio shows & at live events. Autumn 2005 sees two high profile releases dropping from Martyn: the massive nxt 2 u / deepwood which is the 1st release from DJ Flight & Paula’s brand new label play:musik, and Get Down / Black Lies on Marcus Intalex' Revolve:r imprint. It doesn’t stop there…with further releases coming on the legendary Metalheadz label and play:musik, it is impossible to ignore the impact Martyn’s sound is making on drum & bass audiences. To make life easier all round, Martyn has decided to use his real name for all aspects of his life, including his DJ and production credits, with immediate effect. So… if anyone wonders somewhere down the line what happened to his alter ego DJ Pan, you can rest assured he’s still with us & is as busy as ever under his real name: Martyn.
Currently, Martyn is working on new material which spans yet more of his widespread influences, both individually & in the form of collaborations, such as his recent collabo with Hungarian producers Tactile. The new material is both d&b oriented, as well as downtempo, and Martyn’s imaginative use of vocals in tracks is very much in evidence. His DJ work has become more frequent & far-reaching, with increasing interest being shown worldwide in recognition of his distinct style of DJing & production. Judging from the response to Martyn’s recent performances in the USA [Chicago, Dallas, Boston, Washington DC] and the UK [Swerve (London), Carbon (Brighton), Submerged (Cardiff) and Source (Oxford)], 2005 is set to be an outstanding year for Martyn!

HAK - INNERACTIVE, HORIZIONS MUSIC - CA

Hak began his career as a DJ in 1993 using his college grant money to
pay for turntables and a mixer. His hunger for Jungle took him to just
about every record store in the San Francisco Bay area looking for
anything with the futuristic break-beats that he craved. Hak soon
landed the dream job of being the Jungle buyer for one of the largest
Dance music record stores in the Bay area, Solid Grooves. From 1994 to
2001 Hak ordered the sounds of London; Jump Up, Tech-Step,
Atmospheric, and everything in between. His record collection amassed
as well as the DJ gigs.
In the summer of 2003, Hak purchased Logic Pro 6. From that point on,
he decided to put DJ'ing on the backburner. Days and nights were spent
learning Logic. Learning how to structure tracks, how to make tracks
sound like top UK artists. His sound started out as 'dubby' Jungle,
but the sounds of Atmospheric Jungle from 1994 have also influenced
Hak's music and he has found himself using lush pads, dreamy synths,
dubby bass, and running break-beats. He is currently using those
elements to build his own sound. Look out for his tunes in 2005 and
beyond!
Forthcoming Vinyl Releases:
'Low Slung' / 'Your Always On My Mind' - Inneractive Recordings
'northern lights' - horizon music
