If I need to be virtual bitch slapped, please be gentle. I float in and out of the scene so once again I am playing catch up on who has been here or who is coming...
I am desperate to see Bassnectar in the DC/B-more area.
Anyone else interested in catching this? Or has this train already passed me by.....?

from all the accounts I've heard from the people I know out in cali, lorin lays it DOWN!!! I've only noticed him getting out to the east coast just recently as jamie pants booked him for one of his loft parties up in NYC. Unfortunately, as awesome as he is, nobody around here seems to know who he is....

I had wondered about this too, because there's a Bassnectar remix of Michael Franti and Spearhead's "Skin on the Drum" that's firmly in the downtempo camp.
From discogs.com, it looks like there's just one Bassnectar:
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Bassnectar
So, unless that listing is inaccurate, maybe Bassnectar has some sort of Jekyll/Hyde thing going musically.
I am trying to still sort out whether discogs.com has inaccuraetely conflated Benny Blanco and Benny Blanko into a single entity, or if it really is just one guy. Bought a Benny Blanco record in London expecting mellow instrumental hip-hop and got aggressive d'n'b; was not happy.

Some of the tracks I heard sounded on the downtempo side as well even some of that psy trance stuff.

well that is true, one look at the website looks like he'd be in to psytrance, and that kraddy mix I just posted, he co-produced the first tune.

Lorin plays / makes a nice mix of downtempo and psychedelic glitchy breaks .. maybe not the best stuff for the dancefloor, but probably the best stuff you could possibly wanna listen to if you are on psychedelics.
