hell yeah. thats a fuckin tune right there.

under "capone" i liked tudor rose. and the flip too but i cant remember the name right now.
think those came out in 99.

*edit - ok i am thinking of the shimon remix of tudor rose, with fusion on the flip. so if tudor rose doesnt count b/c someone else mixed it, then fusion.

fusion was 2003 I think, so that, i believe, will be my final answer.

the last one that really got me obsessed was probably cybotron, though I gotta admit 'feel my pain' also had me for the intro and first drop, then sadly, it goes downhill.
even if he's not quite your thing [especially nowadays] you gotta respect the mighty dillinja. Now if I could just make it over for a valve soundsystem show one of these days, and hear them as they were intended to be heard, my life will be complete.

I wish I could of gotten a hold of the unreleased version of "Silver Blade" with dialog from intro to the international version of 'Tron'. The Trace 'Live @ Bassrush Formation' from '96 is the only record of it existing probably. Sort of like the original version of Konflict's "System Bleed" with Kemal's sister's spoken word worked into the track.

Anyways, I don't remember what the last Dillinja tune was that I bought, but all the stuff I liked by him was in the '96 to '99 (?) stuff, probalby ending with "Thugs" on Test 003. :nerd:

you could say the same thing about a ton of artists though.. not liking an artist is not the same as not respecting them.

i dont own a single good looking record. theyre 'not my cup of tea.' but they've been around for ages and made vast contributions to the state of dnb today.

the two things dont have to be mutually exclusive, nah mean?

i hear what youre saying but dillinja , a bit of a different case imo. maybe im just biased becasue i dont see how people could possibly miss the sheer musical brilliance of something like silver blade, angels fell, or the like, in a genre where anything other than 2-3 note combinations of sounds that are reminicist to cyborgs fucking are not as prevalent (i like those too tho). its just timeless music really, that happens to destroy the dancefloor as well .. and is a perfect represenation of the original jungle sound. plus the guy really has done it all, and set the bar in almost all the things hes tried, old school jungle: one of the dons. hardstep: practically invented it. the modern dancefloor rinseout: practically invented in thru his sonic exploration and pushing the boundaries, etc.

I'v never been much of a Dillinja fan, but i do really dig (and own) that tune 'Bongo Rock.'

He writes some good tunes, but he re-uses those same drums over and over again. So the effect it would usually have on me is that when i first hear it, i think it sounds great. lots of energy, clever sample(s), and it's just an all over upbeat vibe. but then i hear it a few more times and i think it sounds like most or nearly all of the rest. eh..

no actually he doesnt. its the way he processes them. similar processing does not equal same samples

Yo, if you've never heard the old "Rainforest," which sounds nothing like the new version except that they both have flute samples, check it out: http://www.agentsunshine.com/tracklist_hctbap.html

Possibly the best Dilly tune, although it's certainly hard to argue against Angels Fell.

its the same reason some people think noisia and pendulum use the same drums in every track. they just have a really effective way of processing them and they like it , this technique is part of their "signature sound" if you will.

once again, here's another example for you. i'm not a particular fan of john cage's music. a good portion of it is fairly hard on the ear. i own very little of his work and dont listen to any of it regularly. does that mean i dont think he made any significant contributions to electronic music? not a chance in hell.
